Here are your answers compared to this voter’s answers.
Healthcare › COVID Mask Mandate
t>t Personal answerYes |
Social › Abortion
t>t Personal answerPro-choice |
Domestic Policy › Armed Teachers
t>t Personal answerNo |
Healthcare › Mental Health
t>t Personal answerYes |
Social › LGBT Adoption Rights
t>t Personal answerYes |
Domestic Policy › Government Surveillance
t>t Personal answerFor most cases, no, this is a violation of one's personal right to privacy. It reminds me of the way the police will use anything you say against you, which makes staying silent and hiring a lawyer immediate so crucial when defending yourself in the justice system. I believe violating the privacy of the people is a slipper slope to tyranny. People need to be protected and have the freedom to their personal, private lives. They have a right to defend themselves also. The exception would be for extreme cases when it's determined a serious threat exist and this is absolutely necessary to protect the country and people- in which case, a court order should be required and the person involved should already have a criminal history/involvement in a serious crime. |
Healthcare › Prescription Drugs
t>t Personal answerYes |
Social › Gay Marriage
t>t Personal answerYes |
Healthcare › Healthcare Funding
t>t Personal answerYes |
Social › Gender Identity
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Taxes
t>t Personal answerYes |
Foreign Policy › Mandatory Military Service
t>t Personal answerNo |
Social › Hate Speech
t>t Personal answerNo |
Education › University Tuition
t>t Personal answerYes, and the government should provide free university education |
Social › Gender Workplace Diversity
t>t Personal answerDiversity, and specifically representation, is very important. At the same time, being qualified for a role is also extremely important. Diversity shouldn't be a priority over being qualified. You should not disqualify fully qualifying people from a role simply because they AREN'T women, for example- I think that in itself is discrimination. But, it's important that women and minorities that are qualified get equal opportunities and are being equally represented in the work force and that they feel as though they have a voice and value at their workplace, the the same opportunities for advancement as anyone else. |
Healthcare › Dental Coverage
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Minimum Wage
t>t Personal answerThe minimum wage should be appropriate for a set standard of living and should be adjusted according to inflation. |
Social › Euthanasia
t>t Personal answerYes, but only after a psychological examination to show they fully understand this choice |
Immigration › Citizenship Test
t>t Personal answerThey should be educated/informed during the immigration process so that they will have an understanding of the country, including its culture and government. This should be displayed as fairly simple (things an average Canadian citizen would know themselves) and USEFUL information that the person may use to better adjust to life in Canada, knowing what to expect and being better prepared to live here. Effort should be made by the gov't/immigration services to educate people, and their understanding should be evaluated after they are given this course/information. It's important to stick to important and useful information, and to have fair, realistic goals that match the understanding of the average Canadian citizen. |
Healthcare › Single-Payer Healthcare
t>t Personal answerI can not make an educated decision on this subject. |
Immigration › Deporting Criminal Immigrants
t>t Personal answerNo, only if they have entered the country illegally |
the Economy › Universal Basic Income
t>t Personal answerYes, everyone should receive an income to cover basic necessities including food and housing under a certain income bracket, for example the wealthy should not receive as much assistance as lower income |
Immigration › Immigrant Assimilation
t>t Personal answerNo, but they should be encouraged and incentivized to learn at least one of Canada's national languages (English or French). |
Domestic Policy › Gun Control
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Corporate Tax
t>t Personal answerIncrease for large multinational corporations but lower for small businesses |
Healthcare › Healthcare Privatization
t>t Personal answerLess, and there should be no privatization of the healthcare industry |
the Environment › Environmental Regulation
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Environment › Logging
t>t Personal answerNo, preservation of our forests outweighs the economic benefits |
Social › Death Penalty
t>t Personal answerNo |
Social › Transgender Athletes
t>t Personal answerThere is a reason for separating men and women in athletic competitions, because of the differing physical capabilities. I believe it's unfair to allow a transgender woman to compete with biological women when a clear advantage is observed. I believe there should be some method of testing or some sort of procedures in place to determine whether the transgender athlete has an unfair advantage over their peers. At the same time, I really don't think transgendered persons should be banned altogether from athletic competitions- this is discriminatory and invalidating. This is a very tough topic to talk about, however, because I have a lot of trouble finding reliable data on this topic, thus my understanding of hormone therapy and other aspects like the age of starting this therapy and its effects on the body is very weak. I do believe a lot of factors go into determining how people experience transition and the "final" results, and I believe that is something that should be considered when forming a more informed opinion on this topic. |
Social › Niqāb
t>t Personal answerYes |
Immigration › Immigration
t>t Personal answerNeutral. We should improve the vetting procedures to ensure we are letting in safe people, but also make it far easier for skilled immigrants to get easy access into Canada. |
Crime › Private Prisons
t>t Personal answerNo |
Healthcare › Healthcare
t>t Personal answerFederal |
Immigration › Muslim Immigrant Ban
t>t Personal answerNo, but a more intense screening should be given out to immigrants from high risk countries |
Domestic Policy › Social Media Regulation
t>t Personal answerNo, users of social media are free to share what they please, but anyone who is, advertises themselves as, or comes across to a reasonable person as a news organization should have a legal obligation to tell the truth. Additionally, where the truth is not known, it should be illegal for such organizations to make things up, but rather these organizations should have to wait before making more informed judgements. This would diminish the capability of users to share fake news as the fake news would not exist, as opposed to simply not be shared. |
Domestic Policy › Net Neutrality
t>t Personal answerNo, treat all traffic equally and continue the openness of the internet |
Social › Women in Combat
t>t Personal answerYes, otherwise it would be discrimination. However, sexual assault is a real issue that needs to be given attention. |
Foreign Policy › Foreign Elections
t>t Personal answerI haven't done research on this topic. |
the Economy › Universal Child Care
t>t Personal answerYes but only for low and middle income families making less than $200 000 per household. Also encourage stay-at-home-parenting |
the Environment › Renewable Energy
t>t Personal answerI am uneducated on this issue |
Domestic Policy › Native Funding
t>t Personal answerYes |
Foreign Policy › United Nations
t>t Personal answerYes, but work to reform the structure of the UN to better reflect changes in the geopolitical climate |
Crime › Drug Trafficking Penalties
t>t Personal answerNo, I do not believe in the death penalty |
Domestic Policy › Drug Policy
t>t Personal answerYes |
Elections › Criminal Politicians
t>t Personal answerNo |
Healthcare › Safe Haven
t>t Personal answerYes, drug abuse should be treated as a health issue, not a criminal issue |
Elections › Campaign Finance
t>t Personal answerYes, politicians should not be bought by wealthy donors |
the Environment › Keystone Pipeline
t>t Personal answerNo, do not build the pipeline and shut down all oil production in the tar sands |
the Economy › Welfare Drug Testing
t>t Personal answerNo. In addition to being a waste of time and money, this only seeks to further marginalize people with addictions. Instead, any person, whether on welfare or not, should be encouraged to seek help for their problems, and quality help needs to be available. Discriminating against people with addictions just makes the problem worse. The first steps to addressing addictions should be treating them as people, allowing them to access support networks, and addressing the issues that led them to the situation they are in. Anything less is unacceptable. |
Immigration › Skilled Immigrants
t>t Personal answerTemporary foreign workers should be paid the same wage as Canadians so companies only bring them in if they can't find workers here. |
Elections › Electoral Reform
t>t Personal answerI'm not educated enough about this topic |
the Environment › Fracking
t>t Personal answerNo, we should pursue more sustainable energy resources instead |
the Environment › Animal Testing
t>t Personal answerYes, for absolutely necessary medical research, but their lives and sacrifice should be held with the upmost respect. Never should animals be used for cosmetics and superficial endeavours. Research should be done to find better alternatives and lessen the need for the use of live animals. |
the Environment › Plastic Product Ban
t>t Personal answerSingle use plastics should be banned and re-usable alternatives should be found as opposed to using “biodegradable plastics” that only biodegrade under certain very specific conditions. |
Healthcare › Marijuana
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Environment › Northern Gateway Pipeline
t>t Personal answerNo, no pipelines should be created at all, especially not one's which infringe on the traditional or current lands of Indigenous Peoples. |
Domestic Policy › Whistleblower Protection
t>t Personal answerYes, definitely. Transparency needs to be prioritized and businesses and officials (etc.) need to be held responsible for their actions. Whistleblowers deserve protection, not prosecution. Finding information through illegal means is still done with the benefit and intention of bringing to light harmful and illegal activities of often times powerful people and businesses, so I do not think one should ever be punished when trying to achieve transparency. |
Crime › Parole Hearings
t>t Personal answerCase by case basis only |
Elections › Right of Foreigners to Vote
t>t Personal answerYes, anyone who pays taxes should have the right to vote |
Elections › Campaign Finance
t>t Personal answerYes, but the donations should be publicly disclosed |
Elections › Prime Minister Term Limits
t>t Personal answerNo, voters should decide how long they stay in office |
the Economy › Labor Unions
t>t Personal answerI'm not informed about this topic to make a decision. |
the Economy › Economic Stimulus
t>t Personal answerYes, the government should intervene to boost a recovery |
Foreign Policy › Israel Boycott
t>t Personal answerNo, this is a violation of free speech |
Housing › Home Buyer Incentives
t>t Personal answeryes but only if they are first time home buyers, $120k total household income, if the home is the primary living residence of the home buyer, and if the home buyer is either a Canadian citizen/ a foreign student who is currently employed and 'with roots' in Canada/ or on some sort of visa. basically limit foreign money laundering and help lower income working people get a head |
the Economy › Free Trade
t>t Personal answerYes, but only with nations that adhere to strict human rights policies |
the Environment › Local Environmental Guidelines
t>t Personal answerYes, and exceed the guidelines and be the world leader in environmental standards |
Crime › Defunding the Police
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Welfare
t>t Personal answerMore, but increase benefits for the elderly and disabled |
Elections › Minimum Voting Age
t>t Personal answerYes, any citizen that pays taxes should be allowed to vote |
the Economy › Government Spending
t>t Personal answerNo, they should instead reduce military spending, increase taxes on the wealthy, increase tax on large corporations and simplify the Income Tax Act so that it is more easily understood and enforced in an effort to control tax evasion. |
Immigration › Temporary Foreign Workers
t>t Personal answerTemporary foreign workers should only be used for industries with a shortage of Canadian workers. However, these industries should gain promotion within the country to encourage more Canadian citizens to get involved in these industries. As always, when temporary foreign workers are brought in to work, they deserve the same wage and rights, and conditions while they're working as a Canadian citizen would receive. Their work and time needs to be valued. |
Domestic Policy › Worker Strikes
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Old Age Pensions
t>t Personal answerIf the job requires the use of body like construction site workers the pension age should be reduce |
Elections › Political Party Subsidies
t>t Personal answerNo, except to campaign, and all parties get the same amount to do so and are not allowed to spend anything over that |
Domestic Policy › National Daycare
t>t Personal answerDon’t know what this is |
Domestic Policy › Energy Sector
t>t Personal answerNationalize, with emphasis on renewability |
the Environment › Genetically Modified Foods
t>t Personal answerYes, but needs more research into the effect of genetically engineered crops. Also, prevent giant corportions like Monsanto from taking advantage of their patents. |
Elections › Candidate Transparency
t>t Personal answerThe public shouldn't have to know the finances of an individual, but I would feel concerned if politicians did evade their taxes. Politicians should be audited and face charges if they did evade their taxes. However, they shouldn't be forced to reveal their tax information in front of the entire country. |
Housing › Non-Resident Real Tax
t>t Personal answerYes but higher than 1% |
Science › Nuclear Energy
t>t Personal answerNo, we should invest in cleaner alternatives such as wind, hydroelectric, thorium, and geothermal |
Foreign Policy › Foreign Aid
t>t Personal answerIncrease, but only for countries that have no human rights violations |
Education › Postsecondary Education
t>t Personal answerProvincially managed but with federal standards to ensure consistency |
Domestic Policy › Flag Burning
t>t Personal answerNo, this is a violation of free speech |
Transportation › Public Transportation
t>t Personal answerYes, but only if the spending goes towards environmentally friendly solutions |
Immigration › Dual Citizenship
t>t Personal answerYes |
Foreign Policy › Military Spending
t>t Personal answerDecrease |
Foreign Policy › Bill C-51
t>t Personal answerDon't have all the facts to make an informed decision. |
Crime › Criminal Voting Rights
t>t Personal answerYes, every citizen deserves the right to vote |
Healthcare › World Health Organization
t>t Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Offshore Banking
t>t Personal answerNo, too many wealthy citizens are abusing loopholes in offshore banking laws to evade taxes |
the Economy › Bonus Cap
t>t Personal answerI’m unsure |
the Economy › Government Pensions
t>t Personal answerYes, but for all workers, excepting executives and politicians, not just government workers |
the Economy › Tech Monopolies
t>t Personal answerYes |
Domestic Policy › CBC Funding
t>t Personal answerEstablish and fund an unbiased media with the highest reporting standards, and with strict penalties for not adhering to non partisan reporting and releasing false information. |
Crime › Prison Overcrowding
t>t Personal answerno but My opinion stands somewhere between yes, with community service, and no with increased education and skill building. I believe this would provide a better system of genuine "rehabilition". Prison, as an institutional structure, is not rehabilitation. It's just prison. |
Domestic Policy › Political Advertising on Social Media
t>t Personal answerNo. I believe it's important that we encourage citizens to think about and have an interest in politics. Political advertising shouldn't be banned because it's something that starts political discussion and it can be a way to get people involved in political conversation. However, more needs to be done to empower citizens to be educated and informed on politics. Whenever there ARE political ads, there absolutely needs to be transparency from who/which part or group is paying for/sponsoring these ads. Dishonesty/fake claims also need to be better controlled. People need to be aware of political bias and fake content when they are online (or anywhere). |
Domestic Policy › Senate
t>t Personal answerI don't have enough knowledge of the subject. |
the Economy › Bitcoin
t>t Personal answerI am not informed enough to answer this question. |
the Economy › Pension Premiums
t>t Personal answerI cannot make an educated decision about this right now |
Immigration › Sanctuary Cities
t>t Personal answerI am not informed enough to have an opinion on this topic. |
Education › Charter Schools
t>t Personal answerNo, we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages instead |
the Environment › Corporate Subsidies
t>t Personal answerUnsure if they should. |
Domestic Policy › Long Form Census
t>t Personal answerI cannot make an educated decision about this right now |
Domestic Policy › Copyright
t>t Personal answerI don't believe that pirating for an individual's personal use should have any serious legal consequences. However, claiming the work as one's own, profiting from the work of someone else, or the vast distribution of a work you don't have the rights to should have consequences. Artists/content owners should be allowed to place locks on their content at their discretion, while also having realistic expectations of what it means to release their work digitally. The best efforts should be made to support the work of artists and to prevent the theft/other people profiting from the use of the work and illegal redistribution of their work. |
Domestic Policy › CSA Funding
t>t Personal answerI cannot make an educated decision about this right now |
Transportation › Commercial Drones
t>t Personal answerI'm sorry I am completely uneducated in this area and do not think an answer from me would hold any value until I learned more. |
