Yes, but it should be a low universal amount with complete transparency on how the money is spent

 @8SCNFDJGreenfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @9YJMBVHfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

yes, but they all receive the same amount, there are more restriction and transparency, and it should be reduced

 @9WYDMSDfrom British Columbia  answered…3wks3W

Yes, so long as every party receives the same amount with restrictions and transparency on how they spend that money.

 @9RQNPMRfrom Nova Scotia  answered…4mos4MO

They should all be given the same. No lobbying. No funding beyond individual donations of a maximum of $1000 per year. If they can't run on a budget then they are not going to be able to run the country

 @9RBVFQQfrom Prince Edward Island  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but only if all parties get the same amount AND there should be more restrictions and transparency on how they spend the money.

 @9QZGVSTfrom Michigan  answered…4mos4MO

Every political party should be given the same amount of money, enough to raise candidates for every riding, and all outside political donations should be prohibited. There should be public reports on how every dollar was spent by the parties.

 @9QSV5BHfrom California  answered…5mos5MO

For the most part, yes. I do believe that all official political parties should receive some money from the federal government. I think it should be an equal amount, split across all parties, and then their members can contribute their own money to funding the political party they support.

 @9HNB4HTfrom Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

No, if a party cannot sustain itself purely from its members than it has demonstrated it does not have the support of the citizens to continue existing.

 @9GPTJ2Dfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only a modest amount to equalize campaigning strategies during elections - and ban all private funding / donations.

 @9BK2RQ6from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

I would say yes, because it's a form of transparency and encouraging ethical campaigning, but also not letting mega billionaires run and donate to different parties/and influence their policy, and it also gives smaller parties a chance to grow, although there should be strings attached/laws to discourage violence, misinformation and anything that could hurt Canadian democracy, and hold people accountable.

 @9G5RCDKfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

They should have to work for it and apply for grants even as to learn to better advertise their campaign.

 @9FWW5GBfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Depends on the reasoning and support. They should all have equal opportunities to receive funding that can be increased by how the population feels.

 @9FJSRV9from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Only to provide equal campaigning opportunities, with strict oversight to ensure that the funds are used for that and nothing else. This would ideally be paired with barring donations to political parties from businesses in any form.

 @93DGL8Wfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

yes, but they have to receive the money that proportional to the amount of they spend time to work

 @939CBKTfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

only if everyone gets the same amount of money and it is used ONLY for campaign purposes

 @8VCMRKGfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Election funding should only come from government money, based on party membership. Private contributions should be prohibited.

 @8VBYPRHGreenfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if all political parties receive the same amount and there should be more restrictions and transparency on how they spend the money

 @8V3QRC3Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Political funding should be spread evenly from all donations across the board to certified parties.

 @8V3FZKGNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, as long as every party receives the same and they don’t receive private funding

 @Canadian1from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

All parties should receive the same small amount funding- and the same debate or on air time, including non popular parties that are relatively unfamiliar to the general public. All platforms NEED to be heard in order to get votes. It has been too uneven, which is why we always have the same leaders with large percentile of votes. Time to change this!

 @8TY2F6Hfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

New unknown parties should have introductions to the public, rather than always only allowing three main parties to run. We need more and better options

 @8TVBZK7from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

All political advertising should be state run and all incumbents should be non-partisan.

 @8TD3M54from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

They money should go to candidates that cannot fund it themselves and not the ones that can

 @8SJXC3VNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Candidates under the poverty line should have the option to run. The government should assist do lower income voices can be heard.

 @shaelynjfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, but funding is done by the party itself- all parties should get around the same amount (as equal as they can get) and restrictions should be set in place on what they do with the money and the people who help fund should get to know where that money is going/being used

 @8R4ZH8Bfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R4JRKKNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8PYFGKYfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

funding should mostly come from the party's members but government should adjust things if really needed.

 @8NMVTSMfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

it should be optional, however if a party receives money from the government it should be made public knowledge, and that sum of money will be given to any party that wants it.

 @8KLHHQYfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, abolish political parties and seat MPs and Senators according to their political beliefs.

Yes, they should each receive the same amount based on how many ridings they have a candidate running in. Additionally, they should not be allowed to receive any money from private donors, unions, or corporations.

 @8WTXTQ8from Saskatchewan  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if they are not allowed to raise campaign money and all receive the same amount

 @8VJZSSXfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but there should be more restrictions and transparency on how they spend the money. In addition, each party should get the same amount.

 @8VJ8ZRDfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9LCPZKNfrom Quebec  answered…8mos8MO

La logique d'être un parti politique qui ne veux pas d'argent du gouvernement.

 @9BFYB98from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I think each party should have government funding, but not be allowed to exceed that amount so that they all have the same opportunities as each other.

 @99869DGfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @995WHT5from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, so that parties don't rely on outside sources from companies that may not have the peoples ideals in mind

 @98FPFSYLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

I would say so. We should try our best to get a lot of the wealthy influence out of politics as much as possible, and get back to making decisions which can reflect the will of the majority of the people, while also having more faith in our own policymakers and those we elect to represent us.

 @97T4JZCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only if all political parties receive the same amount and there should be more restrictions and transparency on how they spend the money.

 @9397NT2from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, by directly funding parties from the government, this allows for less influence from pundits and corruption due to politicians being guaranteed their own security.

 @937LMWDfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

yes, the amount being the same per riding/per individual and no more donations to parties.

 @937H36Jfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @8YCW7RYfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @SimonSaysGoNowfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes all contributions both corporate and private to all political parties should be banned. Each party that meets party standards should be given the same amount to conduct their campaigns and run their parties. And transparency must be part of the commitment

 @8VXFCQLfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8V9NNNRNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and that should be their only funding, with restrictions and transparency on how money is spent.

 @8V6CGWXfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but everyone should know in detail where they got their money and how they spent it.

 @8QPX6WJfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Party funding should ONLY come from the federal government to ensure money is not a factor in elections.

 @8PDQ35Dfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8DC736Tfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, we should abolish political parties and require MPs, MPPs and City/Town Councilors to be non-partisan, turn them into "Political Ideology Endorsement Groups" instead.

It should be illegal for a (potential or current) politician to receive private funding of any sort, or to profit from his/her position beyond their set wage for that position.
Each (potential or current) politician should have an equal amount of taxpayer provided money provided to them for their wages.
Each (potential or current) politician should have an equal amount of taxpayer provided money with which to campaign for election.
