I feel with the current restrictions it really affects peoples culture like Hunting. Me personally I think that they should ban weapons for Criminals and people who had mental health issues as well as add a "stand your ground law" as everyone should have the right to defend their homes, families and themselves especially in high crime areas.

 @9LNL99Nfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

I think guns should be harder to buy in some ways such as stronger background checks, but anyone should have the right to own a gun if they have a strong background check!

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta  disagreed…7mos7MO

We already have strict background checks and have had for a long time. Not everyone should be able to own a gun. Only properly trained and licensed. It is a privilege, not a right

 @8VRZQT4New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Limiting purchasing further is not going to reduce gun violence, if guns can still be illegally brought across the border.

 @9LFXWK5from British Columbia  answered…8mos8MO

Every person should be able to privately own any firearm of any kind for their own protection and recreation. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good duy with a gun.

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta  disagreed…7mos7MO

We already know this statement to be false, by looking at our southern neighbours. Training, licensing, and for certain guns registration are a must. Our gun laws work well as is, minus the latest bans and handgun freezes... that should be rolled back...

 @9CBTBW3from Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

No, restrictions on purchasing do nothing but affect responsible gun owners, increase penalties for irresponsible use and ownership and maintain checkups on those licensed to ensure compliance.

 @9L6ZL3TConservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…8mos8MO

If I want to buy a glock I should damn well be able to buy a glock ***** so no there shouldnt be any restrictions.

 @9KY8775from Alberta  answered…8mos8MO

No. Legal gun owners should face no penalties while we should be controlling of the flow of guns through the Canadian-American border.

 @8R2YKWDfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

We simply don't need handguns or assault rifles. Only allow shotguns and hunting rifles for hunting.

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta  disagreed…7mos7MO

Banning these various firearms do nothing to prevent crime, as legal owners of these guns have regular background checks, training, licensing already in place and are not being used in gun crimes.

 @9ZKHTN2from Saskatchewan  answered…7 days7D

NO! the goverment shouldn’t need to know how meny or what kind of guns you have there should be lisonsing to be abel to by a hunting riffel and semie Otto and more for atomatic and pistols

 @9YKKLG5from Manitoba  answered…2wks2W

Keep the current process, but refine classes for gun licencing to be specific to the type of firearm being licenced. This would ensure proper screening, safety protocol, and education are passed for every kind of gun being licenced.

 @9YBBS3Wfrom Alberta  answered…2wks2W

No there should be less gun restrictions because it only punishes responsible gun owners the only restrictions should be no guns whatsoever for the mentally ill and criminals and there should be an increase penalties for gun-related crimes.

 @nt2421from Ontario  answered…4wks4W

Hunting rifles rarely are used to kill people so I am neutral on that. However handguns are involved in most murders in Canada so there should be very very strict background checks or an outright ban.

 @9W9SXGVfrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

No assault weapons No, only for criminals and the mentally ill increase penalties for gun-related crimes Yhe government should pass a national “stand your ground” law on your owned property.

 @9VWC5NZConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

No, and they need to reduce the amount of restrictions on guns. The way gun laws are going are penalizing hunters/farmers more then criminals.

 @9VW72QGfrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

Crack down on illegal firearms and allow concealed or open carry for permitted users with stand your ground law

 @9VVXF25from British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

Just restrict criminals and mentally ill people or people living with either from getting guns. Strict background checks too

 @9VJLT3Zfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

No, and there should be a repeal on owning handguns, and only people with criminal records should be barred from usual gun ownership.

 @9VF6ZNQConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

Family history check, mental health and substance use check and a necessity to go through an emotional intelligence coirse

 @9V9R5P2Conservativefrom Quebec  answered…2mos2MO

I don’t think we should be as restricted when it comes to people purchasing weapons. Because since we have had strict regulations, we have seen a spike in crime rates with weapons. Some people take advantage of the current system where they think they are stronger due to them having illegal guns. I think we should get illegal guns off the street and legalize guns because that way, when people use guns in a harmful way, they could be punished accordingly.

 @9V7M3PQfrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

Restrictions should be based on the kind of weapon, the history of the person who wants to buy it, and the intended use

 @9V798RXfrom Northwest Territories  answered…2mos2MO

For the USA Yes, increase penalties for gun-related crimes, and require strict background checks, psychological testing, and training.

 @9V5LQH8Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

Yes although I believe more work should be put into preventing unregistered firearms from being smuggled across our border

 @9V32ZCRfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

I think It should be made easier for the well minded and people who are checked to be properly using it, but never for anyone with a small flaw in the background checks or mental testing.

 @9TZ3TNGfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

I feel we just need to be more cautious on who we are allowing to enter our buildings and the gun should be contained in your home or car and you must have a license for it

 @9TYP75Wfrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

No, they are taking guns away from the wrong people. The people that create harm with gun use illegal imported guns anyway.

 @9TYMGRVIndependentfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

I think there should be a backround check for any criminal activities or anything that involves the person doing something bad with a gun, and a psychological test should be instigated.

 @9TT5LZ5from Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

no but only proper guns should be sold to the right people with a licsence and a safe place for the gun

 @9TQD73XConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

No only for thosae who are mentally ill and violent criminals, there should also be a stand your ground law

 @9TMRHV8Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

gun use and purchase does not need to be strictly forbidden but it might be a good idea to add more restrictions or background checks when selling one. Guns and self defense weapons are still an essential in your home but should have more restrictions

 @9TLF4ZNfrom New Brunswick  answered…2mos2MO

There should be mental health tests, safety test(liscence) and insurance on every single gun, at least 2x a year

 @9THJ79Mfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

there should have to be a test you take 1 week prior to purchasing a gun that studies your mental stability, they should also run background searches.

 @9TG78F7Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, require strict background checkz, psychological testing, and training but, thr government should pass a national "stand your ground" law.

 @9T9Y95Zfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

no but the governament should make it more difficult for criminals the mentally ill and immigrants to aquire firearms and they should increase the penalty for gun crimes along with implementing a stand your ground law

 @9T98NNNConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

The individual must pass a mental health analysis. They should be a certain age as well, and younger individuals cannot

 @9T7P6SDfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

No, But the government should increase background checks and the fines or penalties for intentional gun related crime. Canada should focus on stopping illegal gun purchasing and enforce border checks for some illegal firearms that may get in that way. We should not be punishing hunters and other legal gun users for gun related crimes comitted by other people.

 @9T42CXPfrom British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

IF you were to buy a gun you would need to be required to take training lessons to ensure you are a worthy firarm owner and guns should be banned for convinced criminals of serious crime and unstable people

 @9T3T4F7from Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

There should be relaxed gun laws on carrying rights, however the restrictions on acquiring a hand gun, and banning assault weapons should stay the same.

 @9SSPZP4from British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

No. There are regulations in place. People who have guns and are responsible follow the rules. If a criminal wants a gun they’ll find one or make one. We have strict laws. And that is okay the ones who should have guns will follow the law. The ones who shouldn’t have them will unfortunately find them illegally

 @9RPPNG7from Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

No, but there ought to be stricter requirements for the storing of firearms. Further, penalties ought to be introduced to prevent people who've lost of had firearms stolen from acquiring replacements.

 @9RDS9RZfrom British Columbia  answered…4mos4MO

There should be a stand your ground law in your own home but not necessarily in public. Those convicted of crimes, the mentally ill and those who have shown they are not responsible with their firearms should lose their right to gun ownership. Assault weapons should only be obtainable if it is reasonably believed that Canada may be invaded by another nation.

 @9RCTFJ2New Democraticfrom Manitoba  answered…4mos4MO

No, however a separate organization from RCMP that can review the policy in consultation with relevant interest

 @9RCBSYBfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

This was supposed to be a Canadian quiz. Why are the references about US incidents? I believe that our gun purchasing laws are sufficient. It is the illegal purchasing that needs to be policed better. Stopping illegal weapons entering the country would be a better starting point.

 @9RBGJNJfrom British Columbia  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, handguns should be banned, only hunting-oriented guns should be allowed, and only for those holding hunting licenses.

 @9QZVT44from Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

I think background checks and psychological testing is great, but I think gun related crimes should have a much greater penalty.
Immediate deportation if a gun related crime is committed by an immigrant, heavier jail time for citizens, and much heavier jail time if that gun isn’t registered. The penalty for using a gun on someone should be something to be feared.

 @9QQVM6Kfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, I think all guns should be banned for the public, except for the jobs that require it, such as police officers and military professional, because honestly, guns have only caused more bad than it has ever caused good, and that is especially clear in places such as the US, where it is very legalized.

 @9PWN4M9from Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Increase screening process for responsible owners. Fund safety and training courses. And make gun related crimes a lot more serious

 @9PNY4HWPeople’sfrom Alberta  answered…5mos5MO

No, but yes if with added restrictions concealed and open carry are discussed, and stand your ground laws are passed.

 @9NMWPJKfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

The current process is already fairly rigid and quite effective. I don’t agree with spending more tax dollars to focus on law abiding citizens. Do something about the border and gang activity. Put the tax dollar focus where it could actually make a difference rather than being used as a tool to make a politician look good to citizens who are uneducated on guns and gun law.

 @9N66KW5from Manitoba  answered…6mos6MO

The requirements to purchase a firearm are fine as is. Maybe lifting the restrictions on firearms would be a good idea

 @9N227WHfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

No, but only for criminals, the mentally ill, for assault weapons. Also, increase the penalties for gun-related crimes (no matter the age).

 @9MKYKGXfrom Alberta  answered…6mos6MO

No, only for convicted criminals and the mentally ill. Also increase penalties for gun-related crimes, and the government should pass a national "stand your ground" law. The PAL system should be abolished and concealed carry of handguns should be legalized.

 @9MKYHZ7from Alberta  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, but gun laws in Canada should be reformed so that having a gun at home for self defense is allowed

 @9MGKJW2Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

Expand self defence law and allow the carrying of weapons for personal safety but ban concealed carry and introduce strict background check and psych test law.

 @9MFRB3Lfrom Manitoba  answered…6mos6MO

Guns are for self-defense, people should have to go through training to get a license for one but should still be able to get one. Criminals and mentally ill people should not be able to get them.

 @9M4Y3KDfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

guns should only be used in gun ranges or for hunting not in any type of public area or be accessible to the public you should have the proper license and documents to purchase a fire-arms

 @9M2NVQBfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

I think no because real criminals have no problem getting illegal guns nowadays so they can kill and home invade this is why I think we should have castle laws like the US

 @9F6YRJ8from Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

 @8Y8RTJCfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VK33KSfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

I don’t believe that people who want to kill will get a gun legally anyways. Why spend money on something government can’t control. Gun stores already do follow the law.

 @8VHG65Bfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VGQQ2Mfrom Manitoba  answered…3yrs3Y

No, instead the government should focus their effort on eliminating the illegal gun trade.

 @8PFDTKFConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that restrictions on guns should be far lower and we should lift several gun bans

 @8MS74JBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, only allow guns for hunting, but make the background checks more strict.

 @8DJXV7Rfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Canada should unban all weapons, you should only need an ID to purchase firearm, and we should allow self defence both inside and outside the home.

 @9LX2BF9from Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, high requirements with much more freedom afterwards. As long as everyone is trained properly and checked, you should be able to own even military level equipment if you so choose.

 @9L2SXDRfrom Alberta  answered…8mos8MO

This should be tailored to what time of gun-related violence we see in the country, and maybe that should be by province. More individual crimes? Crack down on gun licencing checks. More organized crime? Go harder on punishment or funding special police organizations to cut off group crime lines of trade. I do not, however, think that we should scale back our current gun laws at all. They just need a tweak when and where necessary.

 @9KNX3BBfrom Alberta  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, we should require background checks, training, and psych tests, but we should allow any non-automatic firearms to be legal for those who pass the checks

 @9KM3HYPConservativefrom Alberta  answered…9mos9MO

Restrict who can buy a gun, but dont ban them, also the gun show loophole was never a thing in canada.

 @9KKT7PVfrom British Columbia  answered…9mos9MO

in Canada for the time being I think we have a good middle ground i wouldn't be apposed to more but i dont thank it will really do much

 @9K6M454from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Guns should be free to use, but private selling can become an issue, and background checks can really help on a person.

 @9K5QKX8from British Columbia  answered…9mos9MO

no infact they shoud allow more guns to be purchased in canada including handgunsas well as looser restrictions on these firearms

 @9JT265Bfrom Alberta  answered…10mos10MO

no, only for the criminals & mentally ill, increase penalties for gun - related crimes, & add a "stand your ground" law

 @9JS2P7Lfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

Yes while making sure loopholes are closed while taking heavy measures like strict background checks, psychological testing, and training.

 @9JN3LGRConservativefrom Alberta  answered…10mos10MO

No, people should be able to buy and own any gun they wish unless they are a criminal or are mentally ill

 @9JJJ7GSfrom Newfoundland  answered…10mos10MO

Yes. for the cities. The towns that are far away from cities can purchase guns provided registery and criminal check . Once passed, they can own guns for protection reasons

 @9JC6BKVfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

There should be a divide on gun policy between cities and counties. It makes sense to own a gun where there are natural wildlife hazards that could endanger yourself or your property, however in cities gun ownership is almost exclusively a hazard to yourself and your neighbours.

 @9JBXLXSfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

There should be mandatory mental health testing. Hell I am even for disabled people like Autistic people, it’s actually ideal to own one because we get taken advantage of or often forced to do things we don’t want, or don’t listen to us when visibly distressed like when we are having meltdowns. Things like yelling scares us. Plus we hate being touched. Even women should own one too, because they are also vulnerable.

 @9HXL8D5from Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

People should not be allowed to buy military grade weapons or anything more powerful then what you would need to kill a big buck. There should also be more restrictions on criminals gaining weapons.

 @9HV5QFWfrom British Columbia  answered…11mos11MO

No. Any citizen or permanent resident who hasn't been convicted of an indictable offence or involuntarily committed should be allowed to buy, possess, and carry firearms for sport shooting, hunting, or self-defence. A national "stand your ground" law should be passed.

 @9HT9NSYConservativefrom Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

No, more resources should be allocated to federal, provincial, county, and city law enforcement to enforce the already existing laws, and Canada should implement some variation of Castle Doctrine

 @9HGG7VGfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

POV: we add the purge once a day and then like guns are very popular for the economy and stuff and then like no more anything bad like over pricing stuff

 @9HCP7QVfrom Alberta  answered…12mos12MO

No. Obtaining, possessing, and using firearms should be made easier. Criminals don’t care about the law, these restrictions only affect law abiding citizens. We should have the right to own firearms as well as castle laws.

 @9H8BM7Bfrom Alberta  answered…12mos12MO

No, but semi-automatic rifles should be mostly banned, unless chambered in .22LR, handguns should be allowed for self defence

 @9H7G7FJfrom Alberta  answered…12mos12MO

No, but increase penalties for gun-related crimes No, but increase penalties for gun-related crimes

 @9H6DVYBNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

There should be a deeper background check and other test as well making sure the owner is aware and responsible of a firearm.

 @9H2962Jfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, I believe that it should be less strict, and home owners who pass the restrictions can legally buy a gun for home defence.

 @9GYC866Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

no there should not be more restrictions but there should be a test back round check and yearly check ins on gun owners

 @9GVMYT3from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, legal gun owner are already subject to daily RCMP Background check and they are subjected to unwarranted searches and other penalties.

 @9GVKBFKfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, anyone with a criminal history can not own or be in the possession of a gun and no one may own or posses a military weapon

 @9GRZW9Kfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Guns should not be banned from the public, but potential customers should be put through more testing and background checks.
