I feel with the current restrictions it really affects peoples culture like Hunting. Me personally I think that they should ban weapons for Criminals and people who had mental health issues as well as add a "stand your ground law" as everyone should have the right to defend their homes, families and themselves especially in high crime areas.

 @9CBTBW3from Alberta answered…11mos11MO

No, restrictions on purchasing do nothing but affect responsible gun owners, increase penalties for irresponsible use and ownership and maintain checkups on those licensed to ensure compliance.

 @8VRZQT4New Democraticfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

Limiting purchasing further is not going to reduce gun violence, if guns can still be illegally brought across the border.

 @9LNL99Nfrom Ontario answered…4wks4W

I think guns should be harder to buy in some ways such as stronger background checks, but anyone should have the right to own a gun if they have a strong background check!

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta disagreed…2wks2W

We already have strict background checks and have had for a long time. Not everyone should be able to own a gun. Only properly trained and licensed. It is a privilege, not a right

 @9LFXWK5from British Columbia answered…1mo1MO

Every person should be able to privately own any firearm of any kind for their own protection and recreation. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good duy with a gun.

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta disagreed…2wks2W

We already know this statement to be false, by looking at our southern neighbours. Training, licensing, and for certain guns registration are a must. Our gun laws work well as is, minus the latest bans and handgun freezes... that should be rolled back...

 @8RV893Yfrom Manitoba answered…3yrs3Y

do some research on the purcheser

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta commented…2wks2W

This makes no sense. Purchasers are already trained, licensed, and have background checks run on them. Have for a long time.

 @8R39XHWfrom Alberta answered…3yrs3Y

Being able to own and use a gun should be similar to the process of getting your license and being trained to drive a vehicle.

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta commented…2wks2W

Thats pretty much exactly what we currently have, except PAL requires background checks

 @8R2YKWDfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

We simply don't need handguns or assault rifles. Only allow shotguns and hunting rifles for hunting.

 @9M3F3N7from Alberta disagreed…2wks2W

Banning these various firearms do nothing to prevent crime, as legal owners of these guns have regular background checks, training, licensing already in place and are not being used in gun crimes.

 @8HWB3JJfrom Saskatchewan answered…4yrs4Y

Government should provide pass nation "stand your ground"law and restrict from public use

 @9MFRB3Lfrom Manitoba answered…2 days2D

Guns are for self-defense, people should have to go through training to get a license for one but should still be able to get one. Criminals and mentally ill people should not be able to get them.

 @9M4Y3KDfrom Ontario answered…2wks2W

guns should only be used in gun ranges or for hunting not in any type of public area or be accessible to the public you should have the proper license and documents to purchase a fire-arms

 @9M2NVQBfrom Ontario answered…2wks2W

I think no because real criminals have no problem getting illegal guns nowadays so they can kill and home invade this is why I think we should have castle laws like the US

 @8QWCKK7from British Columbia answered…3yrs3Y

 @8QWBF7Kfrom Alberta answered…3yrs3Y

Yes. background checks, psych testing, and training should be required and only certain guns should be available to the public

 @8QW8BGRfrom British Columbia answered…3yrs3Y

Yes because it can be dangerous for anyone who is in possession of a gun.

 @8QT6HVPfrom British Columbia answered…3yrs3Y

Only for criminals and the mentally ill. And there should be a national “stand your ground” law

 @8QS9XYDLiberalfrom Alberta answered…3yrs3Y

guns should be hot pink with Powerpuff girl stickers to reduce sales

 @8QRRHVGfrom Alberta answered…3yrs3Y

Use for purposes only to hunt for food otherwise keep it in the gun cabinet at all times so that they are not a harm to anyone around you.

 @8QP4D8Ffrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

No, the government should do more to stop illegal guns from coming over the border.

 @8QNNZ8Dfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

Guns should be banned for everyone except polices and professionals.

 @Gabrielv2from Alberta answered…3yrs3Y

No but, people who buy firearms should have a proper license, and be walked trough gun safety course and training before being able to purchase it.

Person must be a model citizen go through a lengthy training and certification process and be limited to 4 guns. No criminal record. Satisfactory intelligence, mentally fit and other such qualifications.

Ban handguns, unless used in shooting competitions. 5 bullet magazine capacity for all firearms, and a complete ban on fully automatic weapons. Any modifications to be upheld by prison time

 @8Q85WSSfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

No, but increase punishment for gun related crimes. Stricter laws for those with prior or current convictions as well as the mentally ill. As well as "stand you ground" laws should be inacted with very tight guidelines on how and when it's appropriate.

 @8Q8473VConservativefrom British Columbia answered…3yrs3Y

Canadian gun owners are already the most vetted in the world. Our gun laws are strictly enough No, and the government should pass a national “stand your ground” law

 @8Q7NQF9from Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

No, the current system is sufficient and the government should pass a national “stand your ground” law. The gun crime should be dealt with at the border as it is near always illegally owned firearms committing crimes.

 @8Q5X7PCConservativefrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

I believe that Canadians should have the same gun rights as Americans but we should add a mental health check when applying for a license and every four years after getting a license.

 @8Q2LK8Pfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Q2HQLDfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

Not at all. I believe banning guns is the stupidest thing ever and you should instead pay attention to the borders because that's where all the illegal weapons are coming in. Further more almost every single crime committed by a gun is from an illegal weapon, banning/punishing people followin the rules is twisted and the easy was out.

 @8PYQV8Kfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

No, this country already has strong gun control measures in place, and they could use some simplification.

 @8PYFGKYfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

 @8PXNJFMfrom Alberta answered…3yrs3Y

Guns should only be available for use at designated supervised facilities such as a gun range.

 @8PWLS2Wfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

We should keep the use of guns for hunters, police officers etc… AR-15 and some handguns should be banned from the public

 @8PVZ57Dfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

Yes because If we ease it we will become more Like the united states and have out of control gun violence

 @8PSDLFZfrom Ontario answered…3yrs3Y

I agree with a few of what's listed so I can't choose only one. Pretty much everything from "No, only for assault weapons", to "No, but increase penalties for gun-related crimes"

 @9LX2BF9from Ontario answered…2wks2W

Yes, high requirements with much more freedom afterwards. As long as everyone is trained properly and checked, you should be able to own even military level equipment if you so choose.

 @9L6ZL3TConservativefrom Saskatchewan answered…2mos2MO

If I want to buy a glock I should damn well be able to buy a glock ***** so no there shouldnt be any restrictions.
