Fewer restrictions should be implemented to individuals who show medical records of consistent medical issues across 5 year period.

more, reform the system, those who need assistance do not receive enough to get by, but it is also abused by many. we need to find a way to make sure those who need it, get it, and those who are abusing it, do not continue to do so.

 @9SLJBJVfrom British Columbia  answered…4mos4MO

More…but increase for seniors and disabled, as well as supplements a working income (which I believe would encourage feeloaders to get a job…this decreasing the costs of what they would normally get sitting at home).

 @9JQ8T5Jfrom Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

Fewer, but ensure the payments are generous enough to help, but low enough to not discourage entry into the workforce.

 @9JBTHNJfrom Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

Make changes to the system so it is more situational, and will provide adequate help to get them off of welfare in the future.

More. Welfare should be more money/ adjusted for inflation and local col but the threshold for access should be higher, and reserved for citizens.

The welfare should be flexible depending on the needs of the individual. it shouldn't be a one size fits all

 @9F5KMPVfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Make it easier to get on welfare Don't make people jump through many hoops to get welfare.

 @9DB86MGfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I just think we need to be more careful about who gets approved for welfare

 @9D4V5MCfrom New Brunswick  answered…1yr1Y

Fewer, but work should be incentivised and generational welfare should be reduced by offering education and training to move people into working society.

Reform the system to supplement a working income so people's total income (paid work plus welfare) is above the poverty level in whichever city/town they live

 @9JWMJCZ from Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

There shouldn't be any restrictions on those living on welfare by the lawful creed of the knight code.

Leave it at current rates but provide daycare and job training for recipients. It is a temporary solution not a permanent one.

More, but increase supports for education and skill building and transitioning to the workplace.

 @8VHB8TRfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe there should be a time limit. Some people live off assistance their whole lives.

 @8TQFKJ5from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Fewer restrictions on the benefits, but only refugee or child immigrants should be able to receive welfare.

 @8TN6YP5from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8TN3ZRCfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

More, reform the system so that it supplements, rather than replaces, a working income. And make sure to provide jobs for those who are able to work. Welfare should be a supplement and aid to gaining your own income independently not an income in itself if you are able to work.

 @8T9SCRWfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Welfare should be coupled with, and conditional upon retraining or educational initiatives.

 @8T4S2VTfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

A UBI system would be a better and fairer system than welfare and would be more beneficial for the economy

 @8SJC9WGfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SHRW85from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Fewer, current benefits do not provide enough support, there needs to be a heavier emphasis on vocational training, and job hunting assistance.

 @8SH9LNKfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Welfare ought to be based on people taking steps to improve their lives (rehab, completing training or education).

 @8SF7HN3from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8Q7NQF9from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Welfare should be distributed and capped on a case by case basis and as part of receiving financial aid and programs there should be requirements to document spending and consult with resources such as financial planners and "return-to-work specialists"

 @8NWJ3SPLibertarianfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8KG75SDfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Welfare benefits ought to be dependent on completion /continued education, or vocational training programs, as well as counseling.

 @8H6HSR7from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

More with both supplementing work income and increase for elder disabled

 @8DJL63Jfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

We should have no welfare and give the people a job, and if they cant work efficiently their income is reduced to only the bare minimum until they can work efficiently.

 @8CCZXDPfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

The Welfare system needs a complete reform. The current benefits do not provide enough support, nor the right kind of support. Yes, people need money to live, and a basic income would help with that, but there needs to be more support systems in place to assist those who most in need. Increase social services overall, pay for it by abolishing tax loopholes. An economy can only thrive if the people who contribute to it are alive, and well, and able to contribute. And those who unfortunately can't work because of their circumstance need more compassion from their peers, and their government officials.

More, and only for citizens only for those who REALLY need it (Poor, elderly, disabled, etc)! it should be a crutch to help you get a boost, not to live on! And require background checks for welfare!

Keep it the same but limit time to collect and help find a job for the recipient if they are capable to work

 @8VHY7NCfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VH22SVfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Basic living should be a priority for every individual. Programs that assist those who are elderly or disabled should be provided with the tools they need to provide for these individuals.

 @8V99VJ4from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Welfare recipients, if able, should perform community services and have training for jobs.

 @8V7RPT3from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Should be determined on a case by case basis to ensure that people who actually need help get it and to reduce abuse of the system. It is more skewed to preventing fraud rather than helping.

 @8V5V9HLfrom Saskatchewan  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8V5QB95from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

If I work my entire life and pay into EI then try to claim it, I can only have it for a certain amount of time - policies should be in place that mandatory drug testing and training/courses etc to maintain welfare payments and only for a short time - it's being abused

 @8V28JMZNew Democraticfrom Nova Scotia  answered…3yrs3Y

I think people on welfare should be expected to look for work attend school, or volunteer. They shouldn't be able to just get $1000 a month for sitting at home and being an unproductive member of society

 @8TYJGN5from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

More. Welfare should be tied to vocational training and education, save for medical conditions which might prevent a person from being able to work.

  @8TXVXMLfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

It's a provincial issue. On principle, maybe there should be a limitation on the amount of years, perhaps an end to future generations and immigrants using it. Also separating Disability to the Medical System, not conflating it with welfare.

 @8TX2HNTfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

More, if recipient is able to, ensure they are actively doing what they need to do to get out of needing welfare. Tailor amount of help to the amount of work they are doing, ranging from nearly everything for necessities to very supplementary

 @9C7D8F9from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Should be there to help those who need it and can’t get by to supplement their wage not those who just sit and abuse it as well their shouldn’t be high income earners in eligible because everyone’s circumstances are different

 @9C6GS8Tfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Welfare should be abolished and replaced by a UBI instead. So that everyone gets the benefit despite making just above the poverty line.

 @9BZ2SK6from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y
