Maybe, but only if the standard of journalism is unbiased, nonpartisan, fact based and all opinion pieces are removed. CBC has not been living up to these standards.

 @9YNBMP4from Alberta  answered…4wks4W

No, and eliminate funding and sell off all assets. The government should not be in the business of creating or influencing culture.

 @9F47LDMfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9F3YN58from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

NO CBC is so incredibly biased in some topics its after spreading misinformation about the aquaculture industry. If people are going to be informed they should have access to unbiased reporting of events.

 @9F2XS9Mfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

The government should decrease the funding, because a lot of what we see on the news is either fake, dramatized, or straight up a lie.

 @9XJDXXWfrom Nova Scotia  answered…1mo1MO

Yes if it allows for better Journalism that doesn't seek to Gardner ad revenue and not scared to step on peoples toes.

 @9VRBTLCfrom Manitoba  answered…2mos2MO

No, a true democracy should not have state funded media. The CBC should become fully privatized or be shutdown.

 @9RGCB9Pfrom Alberta  answered…4mos4MO

I believe it should be a general Canadian funding agreement and not associated with any singular party and backed by fact checking

 @9RBZZMBfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but their journalistic practises and programming mandates need to be reformed along with a change in leadership

 @9QW7TQZfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, but tie the news to independent Bipartisan fact checkers to make sure its not being used to make propaganda.

 @9MKYHZ7from Alberta  answered…7mos7MO

No, but reform the CBC to be a government entity that is non-biased and provides basic factual independently verified news to all Canadians

 @9LV366XConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

Defund the CBC and remake into a model that maintains Canadian culture and provides accurate not partisan information.

 @9KG9KSMfrom Montana  answered…9mos9MO

Decrease funding and put the extra money towards something like child care and dental care. We don't need to give the CBC so much money.

 @9K58RGLfrom Yukon Territory  answered…10mos10MO

No, and decrease funding for highly political issues or poor reporting. Too much bias has become apparent in the CBC.

 @9JQ8T5Jfrom Alberta  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but also enact a US-Style Fairness Doctrine to ensure equal & fair coverage on all news networks.

 @9HR4D2Vfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

The CBC should be made independent and if not than the tax payer should have more influence over the institution than the government.

 @9HB9MBDfrom Nova Scotia  answered…1yr1Y

The government should prioritize funding for other sections such as education, healthcare or social services.

 @9GYSNHDfrom Nova Scotia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, only if it is reformed from its current state. If it cannot be made into a federal entity, then it should be privatized and sold.

 @9GNXXXTfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, the CBC is an integral part of our society, and encourages good programming of what's happening in our backyard.

 @9FQ2ZJYfrom Yukon Territory  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if the standard of journalism is unbiased, nonpartisan, fact based and all opinion pieces are removed.

 @9FJ79K9from Quebec  answered…1yr1Y

The CBC is no longer a good news source. Nearly everything on there is boring fluff. Important issues are sidetracked or completely ignored.

 @9F6VHWJfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9F5KMPVfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Increase funding to public broadcasting. Invest in bi partisan public broadcasting so every Canadian has access to quality news. Every area should be required to have a public broadcasting station that works on radio and on TV. Every Canadian should be able to access the news and it should be non political and funded by the government.

  @Joshua-Thoreson from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I think government funding to CBC should be redirected and have less government control over the press.

 @9FCZK2Lfrom Nova Scotia  answered…1yr1Y

No, it has shown to be the largest spreader of disinformation in Canada. I would support abolishing the CBC and starting a new news company that will have to present both sides of an argument equally

 @8TWDTHBConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Only if it is reformed from it's current state. If it cannot be made into a federated entity that better serves parts of Canada other than Toronto, it should be privatized and sold.

 @9C44Q36from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, all parties should increase funding to any media outlet that deems suitable for the party in order to gain an advantage. Although the cbc is bias toward the liberal party, its no different than other media outlets that are bias towards the ucp and other parties.

 @9BNM3KKfrom Colorado  answered…2yrs2Y

No, the CBC currently has political biases that should be addressed first

 @96QP3KDfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

CBC is a corporate propoganda machine, this question is irrelelevent because they would never get rid of it

 @96KSTFXConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @96FFN4Wfrom New Brunswick  answered…2yrs2Y

I am satisfied with the current funding and should continue unbiased reporting

Audit the CBC and ensure they are going to privide fair and balanced news coverage, not opinions, not the anchors' personal politics. Establish Media Fairness laws.

 @GinGyfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92S6KXHfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Funding of the CBC should be transferred to the provinces to ensure unbiased media coverage.

 @92PQBJWfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

More funding to create Canadian content based on Canadian culture. Canadians are starting to become fanatical Americans that thinks our human rights are based on the American Constitution and not the Magna Carta!

 @92KMXGLfrom Saskatchewan  answered…3yrs3Y

Use a tv license fee like the UK model, to keep government and media seperate

 @9285VQ6New Democraticfrom Newfoundland  answered…3yrs3Y

No, if the government were to fund a wide-spread news source, the pubic's best interest may be compromised. That is not to say, however, that information should not be free and easily accessible.

 @8ZX3GXZConservativefrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, and significantly reform the institution to be politically unbiased and relevant

 @8ZTSR7Dfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

The CBC ties our country together. It should be less tied to the government of the day for budgets and board members.

 @8ZSJL5Bfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Regardless, defund, audit and prosecute the CBC for lying to the public and telling fake stories and ensure they only report facts and not biased journalism for one side or another and then restore funding only after they hire new journalists that will only report real news, not fake news.

 @8ZMNT3Sfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Z9SMSSfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I think finding should remain the same, and a third party needs to review the entire organization for any biases. This is our national broadcaster…they don’t get to show biases between political parties. Their reporting should be neutral, and leave the social justice stuff to the other, private news agencies. I’m sorry but the national news site should not be allowed to have a view on any legislation. Sadly, CBC seems to always favour the left (even extreme left), and denounces the right

 @8Z7DWC9from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Only after an audit and assurance that broadcasters will be non-partisan and will only report the facts should the government increase funding

 @8XXXYKSfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XCDZYTfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only after an audit and if they agree to have fairness and non-biased news.

 @8W4BGQ5New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

No and eliminate funding! The CBC is a corrupt liberal mouthpiece for which Justin Trudeau expels his lies out to the Canadian people! Disgusting!

 @8VVH466from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VTCRZCfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VT249Yfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, however it ought to be entirely non-partisan and report what the public needs to hear, not what government wants the public to hear.

 @8VSS6S5from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VKN3MJfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Depends. Will the CBC continue to be a mouthpiece for the existing government, or return to its independent programming?

 @8VJ3D9Dfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Independent and unbiased journalism is essential. Corporate media is too biased and doesn't give us a full picture of what's happening in the world. I'd like to see more funding for this type of journalism in the CBC, and not more funding for the executives.

 @8VH2TZWConservativefrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

All sources of media should self-funded by their performance. This include social media. Donations, government funding or anything the like should not be legal. Propaganda and corruption at all levels of media sources is terrible for the overall well being of a nation

 @8V99D27from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

This is a tough questions to answer due to limited transparency within the CBC, and the subsequent inability for the public to form an educated opinion.

 @8V95QN2from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only after auditing and insurance that they will not exhibit any political beliefs and only report the facts, not opinion.

 @8V6H3PXConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8V5L8N2People’sfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

No because we all know already that CBC and all broadcasting in Canada is full or propaganda and no truthful reporting is actually done

 @Kerrnelfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Funding should be contingent on quantity and quality of Canadian-based programming; maybe increase the budget funding that programming.

 @Steeviemacfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and funding should be diverted to a non-partisan public broadcasting service, supplemented with viewer and corporate donations.

No, broadcasting stations will have a bias if they are government funded
