Everyone should be able to carry a gun for personal protection (provided they can pass the RPAL course)

No this is Canada not America. You want to ensure safety in schools educate people that American culture is not Canadian culture. Educate people to stop emulating American rappers/celebrities. Do whatever necessary so that it's parents that raise their children not American media.

HELL NO you’ll just have more accidents. Hire professionals and again, school bu school case by case. But NEVER the teachers carrying, no way.

 @9VWM59X from Pennsylvania  answered…2mos2MO

No, this would increase the risk of accidental shootings

#3 Engaged Armed Teachers

HELL NO I strongly believe that owning a firearm is a human right but never in any circumstance should there be a gun in a school. also,this would increase the risk of accidental shootings.

 @9L587JBfrom Quebec  answered…9mos9MO

No, this would increase the risk of an accidental shooting but the school should hire trained security guards instead

 @9JLF2GLfrom British Columbia  answered…11mos11MO

have volunteer teacher's that take a extensive training course and the firearm to only be a pistol and it has to always be stored in a safe box in the teachers desk.

 @9F5KMPVfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

No. Teachers should not be allowed to carry guns at school. It would lead to accidental shootings schools need trained security guards and students need quality access to mental health care to help prevent school shootings.

 @9F3YN58from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, maybe security outside could have a fire arm but there is no place for a gun in a classroom full of children.

 @98L33P9Rhinoceros from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, this would increase the risk of accidental shootings

School shootings are not this bad in Canada that it requires teachers to carry around guns. As a student myself, I would not feel safe. Even if you conceal it, students will always find a way to get it.

 @93QFPPZfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Only if the teacher(s) have training and the firearm is unknown/locked away from the children/teenagers.

 @93HTZPVanswered…3yrs3Y

Having a cop in school to interact with the students, but also trained and armed. This will help the students have a better relation with cops.

 @92YHQCV from California  answered…3yrs3Y

No, because this would increase the risk of accidental shootings, so we should hire professionally trained security guards instead

 @92Z8JX9 from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92XHZPP from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, but it should not be publicly known to anyone but the school board and police as well as should have to do mandatory monthly training and should only be volunteered for

 @92NVQ27 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

NO, teachers should not be allowed to carry guns at school because teachers come to school to teach to educate the students not to carry violence around the campus.

 @8Q2SVY7from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Bring back police in schools as protection and outreach for students as polls showed most were in favour of this practice

 @9QZCYDNfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

No, this would probably increase risks of accidental shooting. If there's a risk to the school then hire actual professional security officers.

 @9QFNQQCfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, if the teacher was aware and knew how to use the weapon, there would have to be a special course. It is for the better safety for the children and people in the building.

 @9MMYRQ7from Alberta  answered…7mos7MO

It depends on who the teacher is. What is there background. If they have a bad background absolutely not. But if there a good teacher with a good background maybe. Because if a teacher can not control there anger or frustration with a student who knows what could happen.

 @9LM4FNMConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…8mos8MO

yes but in order to have a gun in school it hase to be locked away in a safe place and they need proper training with a gun.

 @9GZ8BL3New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, any firearms not for hunting should be outlawed in Canada. If there are no guns, there is much less need for a gun.

 @9G2TX5NConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, Only if the entire population is also allowed withstanding current licensing, training, testing and continuous vetting.

 @9FQY4MYfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but the guns should be in a lock box hidden in a cupboard in the classroom only the teacher can access with a key. Therefore 2 locks (a lock and a code) to access the gun. Never openly carried. Always locked until there is an emergency like a lockdown.

 @9FBCTZKfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, but teachers in possible high-risk rooms should be allowed to have tasers after doing a very strict personality and safety test

 @93RMFD7 from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

 @3SXNRFFanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, provided that they are properly trained, but I would prefer that schools hire professionally trained on-site security guards instead.

 @96L4W7Xfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, there should continue to be strict gun laws to prevent the need to have weapons in school in the first place.

No, but schools should require at least one police officer or security guard to be armed on site during school hours.

 @93RH9D8New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

depends on where the school is and they should have a licence and mental tests done to see if they are capeable of carrying a gun

 @93RQRMVfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I think at least responsible staff member of security guard should have a gun kept in a safe location on the premises.

 @9CQJF7Lfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, with extensive training and frequent mental health-checks with the school councillors.

 @9C8YBHHfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

No, as teachers are meant to teach and guns aren't going to help with that. If armed protection is required, then hire professional security guards

 @92FWGTBfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Ban all guns for public use, no one should have a gun, including teachers.

 @8XZYC7Yfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XKT3BGfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, While teachers should be allowed to carry guns at school, professionally trained security guards would be the best choice

 @8X8B6QXfrom Manitoba  answered…3yrs3Y

No, schools should be protecting teachers and creating an environment where everyone feels safe

 @8W4BGQ5New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

No! Are you kidding me?!?!? How is this even a question?!?!? No guns at all should be allowed in Canada!

 @8VTCRZCfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, that wouldn’t make anything better. Instead we should tighten our gun laws and give teachers extra crisis training AND give our students more support ie mental health

 @8VT728Gfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes and only if it's in a area that requires it. They need to be required to state that they have a gun. The school has the final say if it's allowed

 @8VBPPWXfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Absolutely NOT. Teachers are in a high stress job and are not screened for mental health issues. Guns in the hands of teachers will 💯 lead to school shootings on the part of teachers

 @8V9TGW8from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8V8LQD4New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

It is teachers jobs to teach and educate our children. They don’t even get paid enough for that. Why would we put more responsibility on them.

 @8TXCC9Yfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8TW5GVCfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, teach teachers how to use a weapon, but also increase funding to protect classrooms and give teachers the tools to secure their classrooms.

 @8TVQYLPfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, funding should go toward counsellors/addressing the root of school violence, not arming teachers.

 @8TTKY8Lfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I think teachers and any citizen should have the right to be armed if they wish, but only after passing rigourus firearm training and CRCs

  @LeftAnglicanNew Democraticfrom Manitoba  answered…3yrs3Y

Absolutely not. All this would do is create a culture of fear in schools and society

 @8TJ222Sfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, spend money to increase the safety and well-being at schools instead

 @8T452LXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

There should be no weapons in schools, a lot of religions groups carry them as "ceremonial" but a weapon is a weapon.

 @8T2D59Hfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no but all schools in criminal area's should have at least one guard who's armed and can contact police at any time from any where.

no because if there was a threat from a student i dont think the teacher would be capable of firing the gun and if it was an outside threat and they did fire the gun it might leave them mentally unfit to teach kids

 @8R26JKWfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, require at least 4 staff and security guard and 2 of-age students to be armed.

 @8QWQK3Wfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, schools should require at least one teacher or security guard to be armed and trained in secret

 @8QTX67Rfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Some schools will only be able to hire trained professionals if the government provides proper funding. Teachers should have some sort or defense mechanism, but does it need to be a gun? Higher security would be more beneficial if teachers are uncomfortable and if the government is willing to fund it because some schools can't afford it. This issue should be less of a public issue and more discussed within the education community. A parent shouldn't make a teacher have a gun if they are uncomfortable with it.
