It depends, but I think it should follow how the US does it when it comes to ensuring that people are paid properly because if we make people pay more, then it deters people but if things are made to be efficient, then people wouldn't mind paying more because it saves them time, but the main issue is putting that into action, so a temporary solution would be to update infrastructure by making old systems have proper network connections in the case of Japan's strategy and allowing people to spend an amount based on what's less expensive, instead of constantly raising taxes because of inflation, though I don't understand the question.

 @B3JY8KSfrom Ontario  answered…6 days6D

No. It's gonna be used for money laundering by the politicians. Deport the illegals, tighter immigration, and spend on infrastructure and it should be fixed.

 @B3G222Kfrom Ontario  answered…1wk1W

No, we should ensure that money is being used based on project progress. We can't just throw away money at a prolonged project taking place over 10 years

 @B3DJY38from Ontario  answered…2wks2W

More efficient public transportation. Faster/ cheaper options would alleviate the highway traffic congestion. Better rail options could get trucks off the roads. Highways for trucks or time restrictions (especially in the GTAA area. High speed train/ tunnel etc... We (in Canada, especially the Niagara-Toronto corridor) are desperately behind when comparing to the rest of the modern world. It's embarrassing!

 @B3CPZL7answered…2wks2W

Should the Ukraine president stops servicing of public transport however it needs with basics spending issues by Brazilian president blowout in based it cost current friendly solution is aren't ends

 @B2L44R6from British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

Yes for improving in specific areas like rural areas, or senior dense areas and making it eco friendly as well. Doesnt

 @B2KXFY8from Alberta  answered…1mo1MO

No, public transportation in Canada is only for criminals and vagrants now. It's a health risk taking it.

 @B2GG52Pfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, however, these organizations should be held to meeting and driving innovation and more advanced solutions. Public private partnerships which allow for advancement of technology which allows Canadian companies to be competitive in international markets should be the goal.

 @B2DQSLR from Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, there should be a larger focus on making it free, accessible, and environmentally friendly so more people use it

 @B2BM93Xfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes but only if it truly works to decrease time commuting and eventually returns a profit for the government so people will be taxed less.

 @B29K7YN from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

If there's room in the budget yes they should increase spending on public transit to get newer and more fuel efficient buses.

 @9VG5CQ2New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…5mos5MO

Should spend more on public transportation for people with disabilities, like services such as Handy-dart and training of taxi drivers to take passengers with mobility devices

 @9VCFGXKfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

yes, provide more buses to new areas where public transportation is unavailable. Provide more buses that go to colleges or universities.

 @9V5Y68Nfrom Alberta  answered…5mos5MO

I would like for there to be an increase in government but I do not think it is an urgent priority to focus on in terms of funding.

 @9V2B3ZYCommunistfrom Alberta  answered…6mos6MO

No, in my opinion the cost of public transportation should be included in taxes, since paying it independently is not profitable for all people.

 @B37Y4K4Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

Yes, but only if they truly improve the infrastructure by providing more public transportation options.

 @B35Q7K5answered…3wks3W

Inrease spending on public transportation and make pricing not for profit- just what's needed to allow it to pay for itself

 @B33SYZQfrom British Columbia  answered…3wks3W

Yes we need to focus more on canada wide public transportation like trains. And less on highways. Tmwe need to be more proactive instead of always trying to catch up with the current needs. Canada is so far behind when it come to effective public transportation

 @B323YJRfrom Manitoba  answered…3wks3W

Amount of funding and to which projects is something that should be considered on a case by case basis by the people who understand the needs of that particular community

 @B2ZJH9Gfrom Ontario  answered…4wks4W

yes it should be changed the pricing of public transportation to better support everyone and also make it more healthy for the enviornment

 @B2YZZ9TConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4wks4W

I think they should make public transportation affordable because not everyone can afford it all the time and they should take the money they get from citizens and put it towards any issues the transportation may have or a charity that way it is going to a good cause.

 @B2WDGPMfrom Florida  answered…4wks4W

Yes while providing incentives to have more people using public transportation and in so reducing emissions.

 @B2VJ37Nfrom Alberta  answered…1mo1MO

no but put an investment of winter tires on winter citys with transportation as well as not make the city vehicles electric as the emissions dont outlay the benefits

 @B2V98GVfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

Yes, but only if it increases safety for the riders. No point in free transportation if the dangers are at the same level with no consequences.

 @B2R667BConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

Yes, if it leads to better, faster services and can link our country together well (i.e. high speed rail)

 @B2P8Y77from Alberta  answered…1mo1MO

Taxes should be used more effective to increase public transportation. Example: reduce pricy public “art” and use funding for transit.

 @9ZZBW7Bfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

yes but for some transportation since most are already free, but the ones that aren't and are cost-effective should be lowered.

 @9ZRYN8Zfrom Alberta  answered…4mos4MO

No, but I think the government should give tax breaks and incentives to private companies investing in public transportation

 @9ZQV5PZfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

#1 Engaged Public Transportation

Yes, but the government should also do some retrospectives and preventative measures on reducing the cost per kilometre of track or new service

 @9VW5KW2Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…5mos5MO

It depends, I think densification of cities and towns would make increased public transit more feasible in Canada. Until then public transport is not a great means of transportation.

 @9VG7P4VConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, by adding more routes and hours of service. We don't live in a 9-5 society anymore and our public transportation should reflect that

 @9TQ5P3Tfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, more free and efficient public transportation must be provided to reduce carbon emissions and efficiency in day-to-day life

 @9LCJ58Xfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

depends on the distance where the traveler is going, so shorter distances cost more because you could just walk or ride a bike to your destination

 @9KW57GRfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

This situation need a deeper analysis, For example now even though the government bought one fare system transit student passes are not considered for this which is bad for students relying public transport on everyday basis. Uniform plans should be implemented

 @9KNX3BBfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, with an effort to create affordable passenger trains that run across Canada, similar to InterRail in Europe.

 @9KMF9GPfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if the province or city has a disparity in terms of the safeness and reliability of the public transport

 @9KM32WHfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and they should have more police officers and systems out in place to help people reach safety quickly enough rather than getting stabbed for no reason.

 @9KHWY2CNew Democratic from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and drastically expand environmentally friendly transportation to remote areas in canada, at an affordable rate

 @9K8HRYHfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

yes and provide BOTH free, public and environmentally friendly solutions - this should not come from tax payer dollars

 @9K3JWDFPeople’sfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Some public buses are missing in Canada they never come to yhe bus stop as shown in the google map so i think you should spend money on buses more.

 @9JV5LCX from New Brunswick  answered…1yr1Y

Keep the same funding, just be more efficient or hire people who will work better to build better roads.

 @9JT3V8QLiberalfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

They already spend enough money on public transportation and most of the income comes from the government itself in my opinion it should stay as it is.

 @9JRD5WLConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Depending on what they use the money for. If they start using it for environmentally friendly transportation then no. But if it is used to create more highways, busses running on gas and to keep it all clean then yes.

 @9J3WNSPfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but with hightened accountability and in conjunction with other infrastructure programs for achieving a long-term state, and that has to be defined.

 @9J3DSLYfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Certain cities with lots of sprawl need to be designed differently before public transport can become a viable option and therefore so it can be worth the extra funding

 @9HXJPJSChristian Heritagefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

We should build train tracks to open up the Country. Rail transport should take priority over road transportation

 @9HQ5ZCKPeople’sfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I think the opposite. No child should be needing to pay for transportation unless we're old enough to get a G1 at the moment,

 @9H6FWSCfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, where this is an environmentally friendly solution, the constructions or railway, bus stops, and street cars are crowding areas of Canada.

 @9H3YKX6from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and audit to ensure money is spent according to approved capital expansion programs and or documented operational needs

 @9GYC866Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

The government if they had extra money after upgrading infrastructure they should put it into public transport

 @9GSRV7Tfrom Prince Edward Island  answered…1yr1Y

We should take funds from some of the public transportation and put it towards à environmentally friendly one instead

 @9GNSN6Gfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

We should target public transit for communities that need it most such as expanding into rural areas

 @9GJB2HSfrom Nova Scotia  answered…1yr1Y

public transportation only works if there is adequate parking for the people who need to get there and use it...

 @9GF7LP2from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I think if they could spend money on making it more environmentally friendly they should but i also think there are more important issues that we could use that money towards.

 @9GCJ9X9from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Public transportation should be built in the form of subways. All of this investment in above ground transit, is wasteful and causes more traffic, congestion and pollution.

 @9G9MV2Tfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

yes but only if it is making the current system better. For example i would not spend more money on the LRT until they get the current problems fixed.

 @9FWMZSCfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only towards environmentally friendly solutions and prioritise transportation needs for the physically disabled to encourage physically able people to get their exercise and to save it for those who need it.

 @9FVDRPTfrom Northwest Territories  answered…1yr1Y

Public transport spending should be increased and cost as well as incentives for use of of public transport should be the responsibility of the municipality for within cities, provincial for within provinces/territories and federal between provinces/territories.

 @9FNMVTQfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

absolutely, the candian government should be spending much more on public transportation, especially on the LRT in ottawa, its not doing well right now.

 @9FMLC2Lfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9FHP9H8Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, provided the costs are put towards improvement and do not fall to the consumer

 @9FHCTXZfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if the spending goes to be more efficient and effective transportation, improving the different transport systems in cities that need it the most.

 @9FGSKLL from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and provide more free public transportation, as well as if the spending goes towards environmentally friendly solutions

 @9FGK522from Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Regardless there should not only be more free public transportation but also there should be more focus on other important issues.

 @9FGK49Kfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Environmentally friendly and affordable public transport, but focus on other things if needed.

  @Matthew-Nfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and provide more free public transportation, as well as make the spending going towards environmentally friendly solutions.

 @9FFQH2Vfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, should increase spending on developing public transportation's technology

 @9FDTWFRfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, I am satisfied with the current amount of spending and recommend more free public transportation

 @9FDLC9KConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, unless the government builds bullet trains from Windsor to Quebec City.

 @9FDHSDNfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

 @9FDBHTYfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

 @9F2MK7Gfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @B395RFRfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

Yes, and lock put private entities; TTC and GO are enough evidence that the private sector needs to stay out of public transit.

 @B392CGKfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

They need to start/ fix everything that is wrong first then add new ways for efficient transportation and travel

 @B38Z9PKfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

Spending should be adjusted as necessary per city and the investment should have significant returns.

 @9T4MVBSIndependentfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, however I think the focus should be on things like public bikes and scooters, rather than buses and trains for a healthier Canada.

 @9SBG9PTfrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

Better spending based on usage. Why are we building a route to Langley before ubc!? Transit should be run more like a business and help those who use it most

 @9RTLWCPIndependentfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but this is a municipal issue, and we should have better public transportation and city planning, as well as finding environmentally friendly solutions

 @9RMDTXGfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

No, sooner or later the price will rise again thus making it MORE difficult to pay for PUBLIC transportation.

 @9QZVT44from Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

They should not allow cities to build so many high rises when the infrastructure can’t support it (aka, Toronto)

 @9QZCYDNfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

I think they should, but the government should also start incentivizing private companies to help the transition to green energy powered vehicles instead of paying for it all by themselves

 @9QQH84Wfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

I am in between certain places have better transport than others so possibly focusing funding on long distance or less accessible locations have the funding more focused on it. And if requires funding should be added.

 @9Q6K9XZfrom Alberta  answered…8mos8MO

Yes however the public transportation provided should be free and should take environmentally friendly solutions into account.

 @9P8NRFMNew Democratic from Alberta  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, and provide more free public transportation which also has spending going towards more environmentally friendly solutions.

 @9NNLBBRfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

yes. public transportation should be free. people want cars, they should pay tolls to use all roads. Having a car is a luxury.

 @9MCJ3PYConservativefrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

It really depends because yes we can have more public transit like rentable e bikes and scooters but we already have buses and bikes so why waste the money when it could go to housing

 @9LHLKDCfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

Yes. Provide more free public transportation and spend money towards environmentally friendly solutions.

 @9LFH2B9Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

spending should be higher as distance decreases until you want to go outside the city in order to encourage private transportation

 @9G3LBVGfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

It should have some funding to provide transit for people without a car and to keep the transit working and tidy but it should be moderate spending just to keep them working Properly.

 @9G2PN68from Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and implement taxes/tolls on those who wish to drive for their convenience instead of using public transit in high traffic areas.

 @9FW2SW5from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and provide free public transport for youth and seniors, and spending should go to environment-friendly solutions

 @9FVZYQZ from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Lower the cost of public transportation services. As most single parents can't provide enough money for their children over 13
