If they are a canadian citizen then no. They should be treated like any other citizen.

 @8SYC4LCfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

If they have citizenship, they should serve their sentance as a Canadian in Canada.

 @8VHJHZ5from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but after they have finished serving their sentence and its safe to return to their home countrey

 @8VTGNRDfrom Ontario  commented…3yrs3Y

Who cares if it is unsafe for them to return to their country. You don't commit crime in the country and get safe passage back. It's part of the consequence.

 @9ZZFG54from Alberta  answered…3wks3W

If the crime was intentional and threatening or causing injury or death or grievous loss of property etc.

 @9ZZ37MKConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3wks3W

Yes, regardless of if their country of origin is a country with a bad human rights history should of thought about that before committing a violent offence

 @9ZYVF3Mfrom Ontario  answered…3wks3W

Their green card will be revoked if they commit a crime, but if they are granted citizenship they should be treated like any other citizen

 @9ZY2QB6from Ontario  answered…3wks3W

if they enter the country illegally or are able to go back safely if we send them but the crime is not comparable to the judgment given like depending on the crime like drug smuggling kidnapping mass homicide etc.

 @9ZXWXP2from Ontario  answered…3wks3W

Yes, Serious crimes such as Murder and the nature of its intent, rape at any age of the victim, kidnapping, child pornography, human trafficking etc. Prisons here are great, if they came from 3rd world country where prisons are far from inhabitable, I think more justice can be serve.

 @9ZS95QKfrom Ontario  answered…4wks4W

it depends on the crime and how grave it was like if two people got caught stealing but one was stealing candy from a cornerstone while the other one was stealing money in a bank they should have different punishments

 @9ZMYJ4Pfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

If they commit a serious crime like armed robbery, arson, murder of any degree, etc, they should be deported after finished their sentences. Unless it’s life in prison, the person will be deported to their nation again.

 @9ZMK8WWfrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

no, they should face the current punishment for their crime that abides by the laws of the place of which the crime was commited.

 @9ZJYT2Bfrom Alberta  answered…1mo1MO

Very situationally dependant, especially dependant on their contribution and dedication to the betterment of their lives as well as our country.

 @9SSXMWWfrom British Columbia  answered…4mos4MO

Only if it’s safe back in their home country, and it depends on the crime, for example, theft can not be compared to something like sexual assault.

 @9RYZCDMfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, and temporarily pause relationships with their native country until their native country deals with them under their justice system

 @9QVHJ3Bfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

It depends on the crime. If it less than murder then they can stay but serve their term. If it is murder, deport them and their country should take action.

 @9QSV5BHfrom California  answered…6mos6MO

If they have entered the country illegally and it is safe for them to go back to their country, then yes. But if it is unsafe for them to be brought back, then they should serve a sentence and go through a process of rehab. If they prove themselves to have been rehabilitated, then they should be let off with a warning, and if they continue to commit serious crimes, then yes, they should be sent back.

 @9LWJY9PLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

Yes but if it is so serious then there should be a death penalty reenacted just for non-residents of Canada

 @9LW6VNFfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

Depends. If it was murder through self defence, then it could be argued that they can stay. If they’re committing crimes such as first degree murder/rape, they must go

 @9LVCFCFfrom Alberta  answered…8mos8MO

Depending on how long they have been in the country, what they did and if they entered the country illegally

 @9LM4P8Yfrom Nova Scotia  answered…8mos8MO

If they have citizenship they should be able to stay though without they should be deported after a serious crime.

 @9LH6Y49Bloc Québécoisfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

If illegal they should be sent back after serving their sentence. If legal they should serve their sentence.

 @9L4PZ2KConservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…9mos9MO

They shall be held in prison for longer but unless they have there Canadian citizen ship they will serve the canadian sentence for that crime

 @9L36WDWLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

No, but he have to go to the jail like if he killed someone, he have to go life in jail or something like that.

 @9L24SNRfrom Manitoba  answered…9mos9MO

They should be sent to prison here, If they move here they are Canadian and should be punished as such, not become someone else's problem.

 @9KYNQQ3from Newfoundland  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, but after they have completed serving their sentence and only if it's safe for them to return to their country

 @9K3F9YCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but after they have served their sentence and if they have good behaviour it can be reconsidered with community service.

 @9JZ4BJ3from Texas  answered…10mos10MO

Whether someone should be deported depends on the laws of the country and the seriousness of the crime.

 @9JYPDGGfrom British Columbia  answered…10mos10MO

No, they should only have to serve their time then if they commit repeat offense it should be their replacement for jail time

 @9JWLF6Sfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

no, if they are citizens but other than that it would have to depend on the crime committed and if it is safe for them to return to their country

 @9JWF3J2from Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

If they are citizens to the place they are at the moment than no but if they are tryig to become one and in the process than yes.

 @9JVR75Xfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

I think it fully depends on the crime. If it was a act of terrorism against that country then yes, but a serial killer shouldn't be deported only put into jail.

 @9JS8GNHfrom Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

They should be imprisoned for what they did, but if they entered the country illegally they should be deported

 @9JQ8T5Jfrom Alberta  answered…11mos11MO

No, unless they've entered illegally & it's safe for them to return to their home country, if it's not safe, then either keep them here or send them to another safe nation willing to take them in.

 @9JNM5S7from Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, and do not allow any other immigrant from that country until that immigrant has been dealt with under their home countries justice system

 @9HXV9RFLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

No if they are full citizens or permanent residents. Yes if they are not full citizens and their country is safe to return to

 @9HQHPGNLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

The government system should be able to make sure the immigrant's homeland is safe and alright to live in. They should also check if the immigrants is changed person or undergo therapy and help.

 @9HKC2TYfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

If they have committed a crime, they should be banned from the country for a certain amount of time, then once that time period is done, they can return. However if their country is not safe, the should be allowed to stay or be moved to a different country.

 @9HFM6PVfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

if they commit somthing super seirous like murder fraud or rape than yes but not if they do somthing smaller

 @9HDX33Gfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, only if they have entered the country illegally, if the country is safe to go back to and has served their sentence/punishment for the crime they committed.

 @9GB6TRPfrom Saskatchewan  answered…1yr1Y

If they are legally a Canadian citizen then no, unless they commit an act of terrorism or traitorism.

 @9FVYQK3from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but after they have finished serving their sentence or make a process to continue stay in Canada.

 @9FKMM2Tfrom Saskatchewan  answered…1yr1Y

Yes if it is a felony and they have not been here for a minimum of five years, and/or have citizenship

 @9FKGY8Bfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

They should be treated just as residents and citizens are treated after they commit a serious crime.

 @9FHKN4Dfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9FHC3JQfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

yes but only after they have finished serving their time and only if it is safe for them to return to their country.

 @9FHC3D2from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9FBTX3Tfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

No, only if they have entered the country illegally, but make becoming a citizen easier

 @9F8XJM8from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

illegal immigrants will be deported. legal immigrants legally living in the country for less then 5 years will be deported, If the legal immigrant has lived in the country for over 5 years they will serve there sentence then remain in the country like a normal citizen.

 @9F8VWSZfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

If they are citizens of Canada they should be tried as Canadians, if they are not yet they should be deported unless they won't be safe in their home country (ie. they are of an identity that will face persecution, they are personally at risk if they return, or if the punishment for their crime would be inhuman such as torture or the death penalty.)

 @9F7WWLJfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

 @9F7DNYYfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9F75LBGfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

only if entered illegally and it’s safe to return and its a very very serious crime

 @9F72Q64from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

depends on how serous the crime is, if its something like murder then yes but if its somehting small then no.

 @9F6XSHLfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Not if they are legally a citizen or it is unsafe for them to return to their country

 @9F5HY3Hfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

If they are a citizen then no. If they are a non citizen who has been deemed a danger to remain in Canada than yes, but even in that instant only so long as their country of origin is safe for them to return to.

 @9F233YSfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

If they're a citizen then no. If they have t become citizen, yes. If it's safe

 @9DZXPT6from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I think that it depends on the crime they commit. If it is a serious crime then yes deport them but if it is a minor crime and they have no record I think that you could let them be.

 @9DZBD2Qfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Depends on if they've become a Canadian citizen, then no. If they haven't and the crime is violent, then yes...as long as it's safe to return to home country

 @9DHJR72from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

If the immigrant has committed the crime, charged and convicted. Depending on the severity deported and black listed.

 @9DH5CGJConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9DDB3M2from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Depends really. Serious crimes, yes. But then again, deporting someone back to their native country could be just a death sentance for them. They could be fleeing a collapsing country/country with active warzones. Time in canadian judicial system is what I prefer for a individual that has committed a crime

 @9D4YF47Libertarianfrom Nova Scotia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, only if it's a violent crime, and they should serve their sentence in their home country, not in Canada, so that they don't cost Canadian tax payers.

 @9CM6JT8from Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Immigrants should be deported regardless of seriousness of the crime. Including their whole family.

 @9BPZBZLfrom Newfoundland  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BJ8GRJfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BFS3C7from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

If they are not legal citizens and only if they are deemed guilty beyond reasonable doubt by a Canadian jury. If the crime occurs on Canadian soil then it is a Canadian case and should be treated with the same respect any legal resident would recieve.

If they have created a very serious crime but have a legal citizenship, no. If they don't and it's safe to return then yes.
