Here are your answers compared to this voter’s answers.
Social › Abortion
8>8 Personal answerPro-choice, and providing birth control, sex education, and more social services will help reduce the number of abortions |
Healthcare › Mental Health
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Domestic Policy › Armed Teachers
8>8 Personal answerNo, this would increase the risk of accidental shootings |
Social › LGBT Adoption Rights
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Domestic Policy › Government Surveillance
8>8 Personal answerYes, but only by court order |
Healthcare › Prescription Drugs
8>8 Personal answerYes and enact regulations to cap the price of drugs. Yes and require more transparency within the pharma system so patients can do their own research (not to say they know better than their doctors, obviously, but to increase patient to doctor trust, and so patients can make more educated decisions regarding their own health). Yes and add benefits to the universal healthcare plan that encourage overall wellness (fitness budgets, gov. provided safe injection sites, etc.) |
Social › Gay Marriage
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Healthcare › Healthcare Funding
8>8 Personal answerWealth and health may rhyme, but they should not be in the same sentence. Why should someone be treated as though their life and health are less valuable because they earn less? Ridiculous. Just give everyone good benefits and call it a day. This included prescription eyeglasses, this includes acupuncture or chiropractic after an assessment by a GP to determine need, this includes prescription drugs after an assessment by a GP, this includes dental, mental health, and ambulance costs. If people want to pay out of pocket to go to a fancier dentist - cool let them privatize. But please fund universal healthcare more. Unhealthy people cant work, unhealthy people who cant work can't pay taxes to support the economy. It's worth it. Make Canada Well Again. |
Social › Gender Identity
8>8 Personal answerYes, and the government should do more to protect minorities from discrimination |
the Economy › Taxes
8>8 Personal answerRaise taxes on high income brackets, and abolish tax loopholes. Especially for the extremely wealthy. Also implement Standard Base Income for those beneath a certain income level. |
Foreign Policy › Mandatory Military Service
8>8 Personal answerHELL NO! Some people are unfit for military service, first of all, and forced service of any kind is not okay. No teens are forced to volunteer, or do community service unless as a form of punishment. No one is forced to go to Post-Secondary. Just... don't "require" anyone to be put in any kind of job okay? Is that fine? To not force any young people to assimilate in a disciplinary structure whose aim is to promote nationalism but rather causes massive distrust in the nation that they did not choose to serve? Cool? Cool. |
Education › University Tuition
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Social › Hate Speech
8>8 Personal answerNo, and increase penalties for hate speech |
Social › Gender Workplace Diversity
8>8 Personal answerYes, and the government should do more to require diversity in the workplace |
Healthcare › Dental Coverage
8>8 Personal answerYes, preventative dental care is an important aspect of long term health |
the Economy › Minimum Wage
8>8 Personal answerMinimum wage should be based on individual cost of living, as well as inflation. This should be an evaluation based on age, number of dependents, and based on a persons ability to work. Similarly structured to how a persons tax deductibles are evaluated based on various, sometimes fluctuating, factors. As well there should be more incentives for individuals to gain more earnings and climb the "ladder" of a company, this could include subsidies for small businesses to be able to pay individuals more. Minimum wage is meant for those just entering the workforce (for example a 14 year old working at Dairy Queen for pocket money), however in our current structure minimum wage needs to be enough for a person to feed themselves, their families, and provide a place to live. This system is inadequate and needs to be re-evaluated. Obviously a person who needs to pay rent should be capable of doing so by working a reasonable amount, and a 14 year old who lives at home should not have the same income if their expenses don't match up unless they are in a position where they are supporting their family. A Standard Base Income would solve this problem if it were separate from minimum wage, but age needs to be considered here as well. If Standard Base Income only kicks in when a person turns a certain age, emancipated children or youth-in-care may fall through the cracks. Also a person who lives in an expensive area, Vancouver for instance, would have a way higher cost of living than say someone living in Winnipeg. |
Social › Euthanasia
8>8 Personal answerYes, but only after a psychological examination to show they fully understand this choice |
Healthcare › Single-Payer Healthcare
8>8 Personal answerWhat is single payer? |
Immigration › Citizenship Test
8>8 Personal answerNo, most citizens couldn’t even pass a citizenship test |
the Economy › Universal Basic Income
8>8 Personal answerYes, but this should not excuse the government from providing basic amenities to those who need them. A citizen should have the right to have a shelter, to eat, to be healthy (mentally and physically) and have a form of communication (meaning internet or a phone number to be reached at. How can a person get a job if they can't be contacted for an interview?) A "universal" system also implies that everyone in the country would receive the exact same amount without consideration of a persons financial needs. A person with dependents, who lives in a more costly city, should have a higher basic income than a person who only has to support themselves. This basic income should be the cost of living - not surviving. |
Domestic Policy › Gun Control
8>8 Personal answerYes, require strict background checks, psychological testing, and training. Also, please legalize low-risk self defense weapons (such as pepper spray!!). Seriously. Women, BIPOC folks, and LGBTQ2+ folks are scared and are being attacked and cannot adequately protect ourselves within the boundary of the law. Obviously pepper spray is nothing compared to a gun, but to a big white dude chasing us and threatening our lives it's a start for sure. |
Immigration › Deporting Criminal Immigrants
8>8 Personal answerNo |
the Economy › Corporate Tax
8>8 Personal answerKeep current rates but eliminate deductions and loopholes, as well as lowering taxes for small businesses |
the Environment › Environmental Regulation
8>8 Personal answerYes, and provide more incentives for alternative energy production |
Immigration › Immigrant Assimilation
8>8 Personal answerNo, we should embrace the diversity that immigrants add to our country |
Healthcare › Healthcare Privatization
Social › Death Penalty
8>8 Personal answerNo, too many people are innocently convicted |
the Environment › Logging
8>8 Personal answerYes, but only selective logging, no clearcutting, and a plan for regrowth |
Social › Transgender Athletes
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Social › Niqāb
8>8 Personal answerYes, we should respect all cultural traditions |
Domestic Policy › Social Media Regulation
8>8 Personal answerYes, there is too much fake news and misinformation on social media |
Crime › Private Prisons
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Immigration › Immigration
8>8 Personal answerNo, and make the process easier for refugees |
Immigration › Muslim Immigrant Ban
8>8 Personal answerNo, banning immigrants based on their religion is unconstitutional |
Healthcare › Healthcare
8>8 Personal answerProvincial, but with federal funding and regulated standards |
Domestic Policy › Net Neutrality
8>8 Personal answerNo, this would allow them to remove competition, create artificial scarcity, and increase prices |
Foreign Policy › Foreign Elections
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Social › Women in Combat
8>8 Personal answerYes, preventing women from serving in combat roles is discriminatory |
the Environment › Renewable Energy
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Universal Child Care
8>8 Personal answerChildren are our most important "asset". Let's give them the best start possible. It doesn't mean a one-size-fits-all system either... |
Domestic Policy › Native Funding
8>8 Personal answerYes, and give them land back, and give them the options for the same basic healthcare, drinking water, and other social services we provide to all citizens, as well as the option for autonomy. Work with their leaders to reduce harm and move forward in acts of reconciliation, and really listen when Indigenous folks tell you what they need. It's not hard, just shut up and listen. |
Foreign Policy › United Nations
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Crime › Drug Trafficking Penalties
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Domestic Policy › Drug Policy
8>8 Personal answerYes, and retroactively reduce sentences for those already serving time |
Healthcare › Safe Haven
8>8 Personal answerYes, drug abuse should be treated as a health issue, not a criminal issue |
Elections › Criminal Politicians
8>8 Personal answerDepends on the crime and its circumstances. |
Elections › Campaign Finance
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Environment › Keystone Pipeline
8>8 Personal answerBy "private property" do you mean reserve land? It kind of feels like you mean reserve land... |
Foreign Policy › Hong Kong Fugitive Extradition
8>8 Personal answerN/A |
Immigration › Skilled Immigrants
8>8 Personal answerkeep the same (or decrease) but increase efforts to both train our own citizens in these areas and increase the immigration process so that high-skilled immigrants can just become citizens instead of temp workers |
the Economy › Welfare Drug Testing
8>8 Personal answerNo. In addition to being a waste of time and money, this only seeks to further marginalize people with addictions. Instead, any person, whether on welfare or not, should be encouraged to seek help for their problems, and quality help needs to be available. Discriminating against people with addictions just makes the problem worse. The first steps to addressing addictions should be treating them as people, allowing them to access support networks, and addressing the issues that led them to the situation they are in. Anything less is unacceptable. |
the Environment › Plastic Product Ban
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Elections › Electoral Reform
8>8 Personal answerBoth PR and FPTP are flawed. It's weird that we vote municipally to vote federally. I want different representation in my municipality than I do Federally. For example, in my city all the candidates besides the Liberal one are complete bullshit. It's a smaller town and most of the reps are only in office because no one else wanted the job. Also, the Liberal rep was the only one who was against a major deforestation project for the sake of a new road in a part of town where there is basically no traffic so it was pretty pointless altogether. However, I wanted to vote differently on election day regarding the Federal Gov. Also, within a party system there should be more options on a Fed level. This way, within one party there could be candidates on different sides of an issue making the voting selections align closer to the values of the people. Or alternatively within a vote for a representative, there should be polling on the major topics of discussion in that election. A question could be for example, "do you want the pipeline to be built?" yes, no, only if blah blah" That way no matter who is elected the peoples voice can be heard and enforced. Also what the hell is with swing votes? that it just fucked up. Why should the Maritimes have so much pull? |
the Environment › Fracking
8>8 Personal answerNo, we should pursue more sustainable energy resources instead |
the Environment › Animal Testing
8>8 Personal answerNo |
the Economy › Pension Tax
8>8 Personal answerNot informed enough |
Domestic Policy › Commuter Rail
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Healthcare › Marijuana
8>8 Personal answerYes, and immediately release anyone serving time solely for drug offenses |
Domestic Policy › Whistleblower Protection
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Environment › Northern Gateway Pipeline
8>8 Personal answerNo, not until all the Aboriginal bands this project affects agree to it |
Crime › Parole Hearings
8>8 Personal answerYes, and we should provide more rehabilitation programs for prisoners |
the Economy › Labor Unions
8>8 Personal answerI'm not informed about this topic to make a decision. |
Elections › Right of Foreigners to Vote
8>8 Personal answerYes, anyone who pays taxes should have the right to vote |
Elections › Campaign Finance
8>8 Personal answerNo, all candidates should have an equal campaign budget. The people should be informed on what a party values, not swayed by how valuable their funding has been. |
Elections › Prime Minister Term Limits
8>8 Personal answerNo, voters should decide how long they stay in office |
Foreign Policy › Israel Boycott
8>8 Personal answerNo, this is a violation of free speech |
the Economy › Economic Stimulus
8>8 Personal answerYes, it is an investment in the overall well being of the country, and it citizens. |
Housing › Home Buyer Incentives
8>8 Personal answerYes, and the government should limit the number of homes that can be bought by a single person or corporation |
Domestic Policy › Quebec Sovereignty
8>8 Personal answerLet the citizens of Quebec vote on it |
Crime › Defunding the Police
8>8 Personal answerThe whole system needs to be reformed. So yes, kind of, but a social worker replacing a cop is basically still a cop by a different name. We need to address power structures and systemic racism in the process of the reform. I don't have an easy solution, and I haven't read one yet. Keep thinking about it. |
the Environment › Local Environmental Guidelines
8>8 Personal answerYes, and exceed the guidelines and be the world leader in environmental standards |
the Economy › Free Trade
8>8 Personal answerYes, but only if strong protections for our national resources and workers are enacted with each trade deal |
the Economy › Welfare
8>8 Personal answerThe Welfare system needs a complete reform. The current benefits do not provide enough support, nor the right kind of support. Yes, people need money to live, and a basic income would help with that, but there needs to be more support systems in place to assist those who most in need. Increase social services overall, pay for it by abolishing tax loopholes. An economy can only thrive if the people who contribute to it are alive, and well, and able to contribute. And those who unfortunately can't work because of their circumstance need more compassion from their peers, and their government officials. |
Elections › Minimum Voting Age
8>8 Personal answerYes, any citizen that pays taxes should be allowed to vote |
the Economy › Government Spending
8>8 Personal answerNo, they should instead reduce military spending, increase taxes on the wealthy, increase tax on large corporations and simplify the Income Tax Act so that it is more easily understood and enforced in an effort to control tax evasion. |
Domestic Policy › Worker Strikes
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Immigration › Temporary Foreign Workers
8>8 Personal answerNeither, current temporary foreign workers should be granted citizenship |
the Economy › Old Age Pensions
8>8 Personal answerI have very little idea about this. |
Elections › Political Party Subsidies
8>8 Personal answerYes, but there should be more restrictions and transparency on how they spend the money |
Domestic Policy › National Daycare
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Environment › Genetically Modified Foods
8>8 Personal answerYes, but require the labelling of foods that are genetically modified |
Science › Nuclear Energy
8>8 Personal answerNo, we should invest in cleaner alternatives such as wind, hydroelectric, thorium, and geothermal |
Elections › Candidate Transparency
8>8 Personal answerI don't think this is important, but they should be audited to ensure they are not embezzling or evading taxes. Besides, candidates are just figureheads in the grand scheme of things, the transparency needs to happen with electoral promises, and the senate, and the supreme court and with figures that are not elected who have veto power. |
Housing › Non-Resident Real Tax
8>8 Personal answerYes, and the tax should be at least 10% |
Domestic Policy › Flag Burning
8>8 Personal answerNo, this is a violation of free speech |
Domestic Policy › Drug Policy
8>8 Personal answerNo, and we should decriminalize all drugs and treat them as a public health issue rather than a legal issue. |
Education › Postsecondary Education
8>8 Personal answerProvincially managed but with federal standards to ensure consistency |
Transportation › Public Transportation
8>8 Personal answerYes, and provide more free public transportation |
Immigration › Dual Citizenship
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Foreign Policy › Bill C-51
8>8 Personal answerNo, the bill is too vague on the issues of scope, oversight, and accountability |
the Economy › NAFTA
8>8 Personal answerI'm not informed enough to form a full opinion |
Crime › Criminal Voting Rights
8>8 Personal answerYes, every citizen deserves the right to vote |
the Economy › Offshore Banking
8>8 Personal answerMoney that is earned offshore can be in offshore accounts. After tax is paid on Canadian earned money it can be moved offshore. There needs to be valid reports done on this to ensure no tax evasion is present. |
the Economy › Bonus Cap
8>8 Personal answerI’m unsure |
the Economy › Tech Monopolies
8>8 Personal answerNo |
the Economy › Government Pensions
8>8 Personal answerI do not know enough about the issue to have an informed opinion |
Domestic Policy › CBC Funding
8>8 Personal answerYes and make it a non-profit organization that pays interviewees and sources from marginalized communities to prevent exploitation. And have journalists confront their own biases within their body of work. You cannot be impartial - you just can't, so instead be honest and fair. |
Domestic Policy › Senate
8>8 Personal answerAbolish, the recent corruption scandals have proven that any unelected body of government is detrimental towards democracy |
Domestic Policy › Political Advertising on Social Media
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Crime › Prison Overcrowding
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Employment Insurance
8>8 Personal answerYes |
the Economy › Income Splitting

8>8 Personal answerYes |
