Here are your answers compared to this voter’s answers.
Social › LGBT Adoption Rights
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Social › Gay Marriage
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Healthcare › Healthcare Funding
8>8 Personal answerRequired healthcare should be freely available to all. I believe we need to take a close look at where our healthcare dollar is being spent and an even closer look at why we are not healthier. |
Social › Gender Identity
8>8 Personal answerI thought it already was, but if not, such discrimination should not be allowed. |
the Economy › Taxes
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Education › University Tuition
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Social › Gender Workplace Diversity
8>8 Personal answerI can only answer this by saying there needs to be equal and fair hiring practices for all. |
the Economy › Minimum Wage
8>8 Personal answerYes, and the cost of living should stop spiraling up. This is devastating to those on fixed incomes, minimum wage, and trying to scrape by on disability and social assistance. So many are finding it impossible to buy healthy food and pay basic bills such as heat and hydro. This is such a cruel and demeaning way to treat people. It is little wonder that substance abuse and mental illness have seen such dramatic increases. I believe the cost of dealing with such outcomes must be more than it would cost to ensure that such conditions are prevented. |
Immigration › Deporting Criminal Immigrants
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Domestic Policy › Gun Control
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Healthcare › Healthcare Privatization
8>8 Personal answerLess, and there should be no privatization of the healthcare industry |
the Environment › Environmental Regulation
8>8 Personal answerWe are well beyond such a foolish question. |
Social › Transgender Athletes
8>8 Personal answerI have to assume they would not be at a physical disadvantageous that would create an increased risk of injury. That would be my only concern. |
Immigration › Immigration
8>8 Personal answerI don't feel I am informed enough to adequately answer. |
Immigration › Muslim Immigrant Ban
8>8 Personal answerBanning an immigrant based on their religion is wrong. We need to have an excellent screening program for terrorists regardless of where they might come from. |
Education › Student Loan Debt
8>8 Personal answerLack of income should not have to deter our bright young minds from achieving a high level of education. We need these bright minds for a better future. |
the Environment › Renewable Energy
8>8 Personal answerAgain, stop asking silly questions and start taking serious steps to ensure that our planet remains capable of supporting healthy life. |
Domestic Policy › Native Funding
8>8 Personal answerI don't feel I have the in-depth knowledge to answer this. I believe this is something that needs to be resolved between aboriginal leaders and the government. That being said, I feel horrified by our history of the treatment they suffered. I find myself wondering how much better our country could be if our ancestors had learned from them and developed a relationship beneficial to all. I don't believe it is too late to embrace this ideal as we move forward with a true reconciliation. |
Elections › Criminal Politicians
8>8 Personal answerFor me, the real question is, Is our present criminal justice system based on rehabilitation to the point where it can effectively evoke change in people. If this were the case, I would believe that all people rehabilitated should not have limits set on pursuing their chosen career path. |
Domestic Policy › Drug Policy
8>8 Personal answerDrug use and addiction are strongly correlated with trauma and mental health issues for many. I struggle with to what extent we hold the user responsible. This is further complicated by the fact that many can experiment with drugs with no long term effects, whereas for others they can be life destroying and/or a death sentence. Time has shown the so called war on drugs is not effectual. I feel the best way is to increase the emotional and mental well being of our population. I further believe this has to be an important part of the curriculum in our schools. From a legal standpoint, I highly doubt that our legal system is capable of controlling the source of these dangerous substances. Perhaps legalization is therefore a better answer. For those already suffering the devastating effects of substance abuse, we need to take responsibility as a society and do what we can to promote recovery. |
Healthcare › Safe Haven
8>8 Personal answerYes, but much more in terms of prevention and therapy are needed. This at least saves lives and gets them in a door where they might build trust and be receptive to further help. This is a devastating result of societal ills and the best prevention would be to fix the ills that led to it. |
Housing › Foreign Owned Homes
8>8 Personal answerI don't feel I am informed enough to voice an opinion on this. |
the Environment › Plastic Product Ban
8>8 Personal answerSeriously, you think this something debatable? |
Housing › Affordable Housing
8>8 Personal answerWhat happens to all the existing houses? Would it not be wiser for the government to invest in saving and restructuring these homes to provide housing for the homeless and as a way to assist people with low incomes to be able to afford housing? I don't believe there is justification for housing developments to continue to spread into farmland or natural inhabitant. These are natural resources that we can not afford to squander. In areas where houses are beyond the point where it would not be cost-efficient to repair, then they should be torn down to make room for new structures. If the question is asking if the government should subsidize building contractors, my answer is no. The subsidies should only be at the level of helping to provide affordable housing for those that truly can't. |
Crime › Parole Hearings
8>8 Personal answerYes, provided a strict psychological evaluation shows they are no longer a threat to society |
Elections › Right of Foreigners to Vote
8>8 Personal answerNo, only legal citizens should be allowed to vote |
Housing › Home Buyer Incentives
8>8 Personal answerI believe that the outrageous cost of housing needs to be brought under control. |
Crime › Defunding the Police
8>8 Personal answerI don't feel I have enough information to answer this, but do believe more social and community based programs are needed. I believe there has been improved education for police in how to deal with some of the social issues where they are called upon. I know in some areas they are pairing with other professionals on these calls. Sometimes what starts out as non-violent can turn violent. I hate to think that this would be an either/or decision. Both these services have become increasingly needed. Perhaps if the social issues that have led to this were better addressed, the need for increased services in both these areas would not be so desperately needed |
Crime › Demilitarize the Police
8>8 Personal answerIf the situation is extreme enough for such measures, I believe there should be military personnel involved. Training for working together in such situations should be provided. |
Elections › Minimum Voting Age
8>8 Personal answerI think that a test should be given to everyone that would show if they are capable of an informed vote, much like informed consent is required for surgery. I think showing that one has the ability to understand what they are doing, is much more important than their age. I believe there are many of our younger citizens that are more informed than many older citizens. |
the Economy › Government Spending
8>8 Personal answerIs there anywhere that the government can afford to cut back on public funding that would not be a detriment to the public? I think not. So what percentage of the wealth is held by what percentage of the people? |
Foreign Policy › Foreign Aid
8>8 Personal answerI believe we have a moral duty both at home and beyond our borders to help to alleviate pain and suffering. I believe it would be very anti Canadian to not do so. I am not versed in the amounts spent on this, and would hope that their are people in power that make these decisions with empathy and love. |
Science › Nuclear Energy
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Education › Postsecondary Education
8>8 Personal answerFederal |
Transportation › Public Transportation
8>8 Personal answerThe use of public transportation needs to be increased by the general public so that the use and pollution caused by private vehicles decreases. How could this be achieved in cities where this would be a viable option? Using private transportation in such circumstances is a luxury and should be taxed as such. This money could be put towards better public transportation and keep the price down. Where good public transportation is not available, increased car pooling needs to become the norm. It seems that we turn to increased government spending for everything. If luxury is demanded, than those people need to accept the costs. The number of gas guzzling trucks and SUV's on the road shocks me. |
Foreign Policy › Military Spending
8>8 Personal answerI would need to have much more in-depth knowledge than I possess to answer this. |
Foreign Policy › Bill C-51
8>8 Personal answerI lack the knowledge to answer this. |
Transportation › Green Transportation
8>8 Personal answerWe need to stop using fossil fuels and our government needs to invest in renewable energy sources. |
Transportation › Commercial Drones
8>8 Personal answerWhat are the safety issues with them concerning wildlife? |
