I feel with the current restrictions it really affects peoples culture like Hunting. Me personally I think that they should ban weapons for Criminals and people who had mental health issues as well as add a "stand your ground law" as everyone should have the right to defend their homes, families and themselves especially in high crime areas.

 @9L6ZL3TConservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…1yr1Y

If I want to buy a glock I should damn well be able to buy a glock ***** so no there shouldnt be any restrictions.

 @9VWC5NZConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

No, and they need to reduce the amount of restrictions on guns. The way gun laws are going are penalizing hunters/farmers more then criminals.

 @9V9R5P2Conservativefrom Quebec  answered…7mos7MO

I don’t think we should be as restricted when it comes to people purchasing weapons. Because since we have had strict regulations, we have seen a spike in crime rates with weapons. Some people take advantage of the current system where they think they are stronger due to them having illegal guns. I think we should get illegal guns off the street and legalize guns because that way, when people use guns in a harmful way, they could be punished accordingly.

 @9TQD73XConservativefrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

No only for thosae who are mentally ill and violent criminals, there should also be a stand your ground law

 @9TMRHV8Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…7mos7MO

gun use and purchase does not need to be strictly forbidden but it might be a good idea to add more restrictions or background checks when selling one. Guns and self defense weapons are still an essential in your home but should have more restrictions

 @9TG78F7Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, require strict background checkz, psychological testing, and training but, thr government should pass a national "stand your ground" law.

 @9MFRB3Lfrom Manitoba  answered…11mos11MO

Guns are for self-defense, people should have to go through training to get a license for one but should still be able to get one. Criminals and mentally ill people should not be able to get them.

 @8PFDTKFConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that restrictions on guns should be far lower and we should lift several gun bans

 @9VF6ZNQConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Family history check, mental health and substance use check and a necessity to go through an emotional intelligence coirse

 @9V5LQH8Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

Yes although I believe more work should be put into preventing unregistered firearms from being smuggled across our border

 @9T98NNNConservativefrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

The individual must pass a mental health analysis. They should be a certain age as well, and younger individuals cannot

 @9KM3HYPConservativefrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Restrict who can buy a gun, but dont ban them, also the gun show loophole was never a thing in canada.

 @9JN3LGRConservativefrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

No, people should be able to buy and own any gun they wish unless they are a criminal or are mentally ill

 @9HT9NSYConservativefrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

No, more resources should be allocated to federal, provincial, county, and city law enforcement to enforce the already existing laws, and Canada should implement some variation of Castle Doctrine

 @9GYC866Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

no there should not be more restrictions but there should be a test back round check and yearly check ins on gun owners

 @9GGZDY6from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

no, but there should be more for violent or sexual criminals and the mentally ill but there should also be a national stand your ground law

 @9G6BWXGConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

no, but guns should be aloud in public places loaded with ammo unless they are at a gun range, and ther should be high tickets if they break this law

 @9FRK4RNConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No but the government should create more safety and background check programs as well as mental health checks

 @9FKMM2Tfrom Saskatchewan  answered…2yrs2Y

Any violent felons should not be allowed to purchase a gun, and all who purchase a gun should need to present a firearm safety license at the time of purchase

 @9FHB5XKfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

if you are legal age to buy one and have no criminal chargers under a certain level then let them a buy a gun.

 @9FGBYPBfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9F7WQT3Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BMDJJNConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No because there's already enough lessons to own a firearm and the only legal gun types are shotguns and rifles

 @96CX5Z3Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

They should keep the buying the gun at the same level but lower the gun shooting wise

 @964QPWVConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @952J6K5from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes and no. Require strict background checks, psychological testing, and safety training. Don't ban semi-auto guns or pistols.

 @8Z6SRCHfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe many of the recent changes to gun laws have been done for exclusively political reasons and only serve to take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. They do nothing to protect Canadians from gun violence nor do they prevent criminals from acquiring firearms. These laws should be repealed and the affected gun owners compensated for the unlawful seizure of their property

 @8YVYX83Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8WQV464Conservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…3yrs3Y

only add more for the people who have a criminal record with a gun violation

 @8WCVWGPConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if you have not commited any violent crimes ao any terrist or have any terrist connections

 @8VV622DConservativefrom New Brunswick  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VNJ8B8from Saskatchewan  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but yes for assault weapons such as AK's, AR's, etc. but not for rifles, and shotguns that are for hunting. The government should pass a "stand your ground" law, and have a self defense course on if the fact that somebody comes into your home, you know where exactly to shoot them, and have an ambulance called at either free of charge, or they pay for it. Make it harder for the felons, and mentally ill. And also increase the penalties for gun related crimes

 @8VM6NRBfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

lose restrictions on all weapons and bring in strong penalties for gun-related crimes and heavy restrictions for the mentally ill and criminals.

 @Gabrielv2from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No but, people who buy firearms should have a proper license, and be walked trough gun safety course and training before being able to purchase it.

 @8QCHD32Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Person must be a model citizen go through a lengthy training and certification process and be limited to 4 guns. No criminal record. Satisfactory intelligence, mentally fit and other such qualifications.

 @8Q85WSSfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but increase punishment for gun related crimes. Stricter laws for those with prior or current convictions as well as the mentally ill. As well as "stand you ground" laws should be inacted with very tight guidelines on how and when it's appropriate.

 @8Q8473VConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Canadian gun owners are already the most vetted in the world. Our gun laws are strictly enough No, and the government should pass a national “stand your ground” law

 @8Q5X7PCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that Canadians should have the same gun rights as Americans but we should add a mental health check when applying for a license and every four years after getting a license.

 @8PLG2LLConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but deny selling guns or any weapons to criminals, mentally ill people, as well as increase background checks and increase penalties for gun-related crimes.

 @8PL79BCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No increase in the ease that someone can get a gun but there must be training and different tiers of firearm ownership with training for each tier and types of weapons. Any anti-material canon above 20mm's should be held on your property with approved security or be put in a public armoury managed by active and reserve military members.

 @8PJZX4BConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8PHYQTXConservativefrom Newfoundland  answered…4yrs4Y

no we should be able to have a gun if you take a gun safety course if you want a gun for hunting or your own protection you should have one

 @8NW4G8WConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No but increase penalties fir hun related crimes and enact “stand your ground” law

 @8JMPSQPfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, allow open carry. But add a stricter background check and a good mental health check. And increase penalties for gun related crimes

 @8HVT5FTConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

The system in place works perfect. The government needs to turn their focus to illigally imported guns, not law abiding Gun owners.

 @8CM9FY3Conservativefrom Manitoba  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but increase penalties for gun related crimes, make it absolutely not for mentally ill or criminals.

 @8CKHG4Wfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

 @9CLLRNSfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, I think it should be mandatory for everyone who buys a gun to go through training so that they don't injure themselves or others.

 @9CBVH5CConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

No, keep the same system as it works fine, for the people who have committed any kind of violent crimes they are not allowed and the mentally unstable or people with cases of depression should also not be allowed to own guns.

 @9C7VHL9Conservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…2yrs2Y

Currently, in Canada, the restrictions are going too far. Since we only get like a 5 round clip, if you ever get chased by a boar, which can soak up bullets, you're dead. I think that the restrictions should be a bit lower, at least for hunting and there should be a criminal check before you can own guns, but I think that they need to be substantially lowered for hunters.

 @9C67CW5Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BH5HGYConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @99VVCCYConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

There should be a stand your ground law, Increased penalties for gun related crime and no guns for the mentally ill or convicted felons.

 @9926JWTConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

We already have a very strict and rigorous system. However it could always be more strict and safe. I do not agree with banning guns of most types, but the acquisition of a firearms license and firearm could always be better.

 @98GB9LXfrom Prince Edward Island  answered…2yrs2Y

 @98FLZJ7Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

The wrong people will always gets guns undergound. The people that follow the rules are the ones that get penalized.

 @97T4JZCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only for criminals and the mentally ill and require strict background checks, psychological testing, and training, and go after illegal smuggling of guns and illegal border crossings.

 @975C74DConservativefrom Nova Scotia  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but increase penalties for gun-related crimes and there but assault weapons should be more restricted. And some background checks.

 @96SP7TZConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

No there should not be more restrictions on the purchasing of firearms there should be less restrictions.

 @8SSH4FFConservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…4yrs4Y

no just have a background check. If something comes up then you should place more restrictions but not everyone should have to go through them

 @8SHNCN4Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No only for criminals and mentally ill but make it easier for most people to buy a gun

 @8SFWP6SConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I think people should have a gun licence for each category and ban all high capacity magazines to the public use and kept at gun ranges. Coming from a gun enthusiast all guns shouldn’t be banned but law enforcement should do more background on the person that may purchase the gun.

 @8PWBNJ2Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No only for criminals n mentally ill, death penalty, pass a stand your ground law

 @8PRN9D5from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Do better background checks and ban assault weapons from terrorists, foreigners, convicted criminals, and the mentally ill. Also from being allowed to be purchased but you should be able to buy a gun for hunting and self defense.

 @8VK97RMfrom Saskatchewan  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VDD89Xfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, gun laws in Canada are heavily flawed and unjust as they do not serve to protect Canadians but are a scapegoat to fool the public/voters. Unhelpful and/or useless laws passed on baseless claims and arguments should be repealed for a government to stay honest with the people it governs.

 @8V544GGConservativefrom Northwest Territories  answered…4yrs4Y

Indigenous/Aboriginal peoples should not have to have their fire arms registered & they should be able to possess a firearm without a license. We should be able to buy guns and ammunition without a PAL.

 @8V52L73Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No. Government should focus on illegal and smuggled firearms. Not punish legal gun owners.

 @8SGSL7YConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SCGLMCConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

The government will never be able to get rid of firearms from criminals. Not everyone who owns a firearm uses it for bad use.

 @8RVZKT3Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Every person who is in the process of purchasing a firearm should be trained and have multiple background checks done. The penalties for crimes committed with firearms should be raised. and the laws on crimes committed with firearms should have changes made.

 @8RJB7QRConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no, the laws in place before the ban was fine. making it more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain guns is the same as just saying we sound make harder for young teens to get a g1 because of drunk drivers making it hard for car lovers and everyday people driver to and from work. i get people are sacred because they don't understand guns taking them and banning them doesn't stop criminals and wouldn't you want the same weapons as them or the police but only with lower capacity then both cops and criminals a government that doesn't want you to have guns but they have guns is a red flag
