Should there be more restrictions on the current process of purchasing a gun?

I believe many of the recent changes to gun laws have been done for exclusively political reasons and only serve to take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. They do nothing to protect Canadians from gun violence nor do they prevent criminals from acquiring firearms. These laws should be repealed and the affected gun owners compensated for the unlawful seizure of their property
