I am neutral about this because the batteries for electric vehicles may be good in the long run, but when they are worn out the battery is harmful for the environment

 @B494DMKfrom British Columbia  answered…3wks3W

Depends on the cost annalasis,and other factors. Electric is greet but our power grid needs many upgrades firsts, and additional transit lines are more important vs electric

 @B47YXXDfrom British Columbia  answered…3wks3W

only where it's applicable to do so. Using electricity for public transportation without adequate supporting electrical grids will only increase the price of individuals electrical bills

 @B33SYZQfrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

No, focus on improving all public transportation. Adding more and upgrading as needed. Look at adding trains connecting cities to help with our job and cost of living. And improve tourism and travel within our country

 @B2R4M5Dfrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

Ideally it would be great but I don’t the industry is at a place to support that large of change yet

 @B2Q85HWfrom British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

nuclear power could be a lot more useful, because it has more energy and its clean. the only problem people don't like about nuclear power is if something does go wrong, it goes really wrong, but if you do all the right things it should be fine.

 @9WPPMKFRhinocerosfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

It depends on the cost of having all buses electric, it would probably be better just to have some electric buses for now until we have a better way to power them.

 @9W2MG5Vfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

I believe the use of electric transit is good when it’s economically and environmentally beneficial however sometimes we need gas and diesel transit

 @9VX5GYPNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Rolling out electric buses is a good idea but any bus is gonna be pretty environmentally friendly as opposed to a car.

 @9VW5KW2Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Not all, should be implemented when to environmental impact of doing so is great enough to outweigh the cost of implementing.

 @9VK2GQJfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

buses and trains should be Hydrogen, of course, like Germany, France, Australia...come on guys. HYDROGEN

 @9VJ7N4Zfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Increase use of water ways. I also do think EV batteries are equally as harmful so do not believe they should be soley used.

 @9VDT7NFNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

No, until we figure out how to generate electricity efficiently without repercussions, then we can make that change.

 @9V9JY32from British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

Some public buses and trains should be converted as technology is developed to do so in an environmentally friendly way

 @9V47JZ7from British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but over time. Meaning that the government starts to put more electric transportation and by a certain year its should all electric

 @9TSTKVYfrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

it depends on how much it would cost to make every train or bus electric because it is very expensive to build them.

 @9RC97PLNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, but only where structurally and economically feasible. Certain low-density population and/or infrastructure areas may be better served by carbon neutral emission vehicles.

 @9NMWPJKfrom British Columbia  answered…10mos10MO

Who is going to pay for this? Mandates hurt consumers more than anyone. Either the business or the government will pass the cost down to the consumer

 @9LBZRTQfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, but we should increase the amount of transportation that runs on electric power (depending on how the electrical power is produced)

 @9JS9HBKfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

yes and no, yes because it useful to some degree. No because ur not wasting energy and it's just better.

 @9JJC4PHfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

we should build more liveable and walkable/cycleable cities so that folks do not need to rely so heavily on cars or transit. While all transit that does exist should run on renewable energy, this energy must be harnessed in a way that honours the sovereignty of Indigenous Nations and does not harm the land.

 @9HZLTF2from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Should get more people on public transport which would have less cars in use creating less pollution

 @9FMVJSRfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

They should try their best to make more trains and busses electric but I don’t think the need to make every train or bus electric

 @9FGQD5Gfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

when a more sustainable and enviromently friendly tech is available than yes

 @9FB2CDTNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

we should slowly decrease the public transportation that is gas powered and increase the amount electric transportation until all of them are electric

 @9F5VDJPfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

As long as it is financial feasible and efficient for the community it serves

 @9FQB8JRfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9C2VZVTfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

This should be decided locally based on the needs and resources of the community/city

I would say that we should move towards electrification of our public buses and trains throughout our country, but we should also make sure that there is infrastructure there to actually be able to repair/charge them. But regardless, we should be moving this way as it is a step in the right direction for not only communities, but also for the planet.

 @95J3B8Jfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93KRLRBfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

The owners of the buses and trains should decide themselves what power they run on

 @93GMKZQfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93FG53Gfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Ideally, yes. But it should also be cost-effective and easy for cities to run and operate.

 @937W5DTNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Slowly introduce more and more electric-powered transportation to not upset the fossil fuel industry and improve batteries.

 @936M5P2Liberalfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92NSVSPfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, I would say that it's important to electrify public transit. As important as public transit is, there are some routes that have less passengers than others, meaning no passengers riding the bus as some times of the day, if this was electrified, we could save the extra pollution/CO2 from going into the atmosphere.

 @92JTBL3from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9284NX3from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

As buses and trains breakdown, replace them with better more ecofriendly alternatives such as hybrids,

the sudden change would be drastically expensive and the gov cant take on any more debt, so yes there should be a change but it needs to be gradual

 @8Z3CSQ4Liberalfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

It really depends. Sky trains yes, but sometimes busses are on highways for a while and you run the risk of them losing power

no, we should focus on eliminating gas cars before worrying about public transportation

 @8YBBBWNfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, as long as the power used isn't any worse than the batteries and gas currently used.

Depending on the logistics, a combination of approaches that make the most sense for the geography and proximity of the stops.

 @8XZNFFCfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Regardless, the matter of public transportation should be left to the private sector.

 @8WWDK6Ffrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

If it's cost effective and works just as well, then yes, we should actively try and make this happen.

 @8WPWWMFfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8W44DKVfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, we should use the old buses and trains as a base for the electric ones

 @8VVC2WLfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Not a simple answer. We need to phase out our dependence on fossil fuels.

 @8VT8Z69from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y
