I would like to see Canada put some planning into the unemployment rate vs education that will make a difference to contributing to Canada's GDP and economic growth. If it is shown to matter, Canada can incentivize reductions on tuition for certain programs. I believe if you want to take nice to have programs like basket weaving, zoology, psychiatry, that you should pay those costs to force you to find a job when you are out of school. I also support privatization of education provided that they meet at least the minimum standards. This will help the fees paid at economic class levels.

 @B2QWDDVfrom British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

no, but they should have free universitys with lower degrees so people can still do what they want with their life but just at a lower level/pay

 @B2QW7PJfrom British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, but don't make it so everyone can afford it, only make it so that people who could afford the origional rates can keep some of the money.

Cap the proportion of budget that can be used for administration costs and the amount of maximum pay. Have tuition costs proportionate to the overall budget. Subsidize schools that attract and promote viewpoint diversity and fund/promote open debate on all issues.

 @9ZYP4W7from British Columbia  answered…5mos5MO

he best universities with the highest scrutiny to be accredited should be allowed to charge the top tuition rates.

 @9X3RP77Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

No, student loans should be completely eliminated. No more student loans for anyone. We’ll see what happens to tuition then…

 @9RPSWGHConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…9mos9MO

If it is to be done, it should be done by the provincial government in accordance with our federalist system

 @9QYHT2Wfrom British Columbia  answered…9mos9MO

If you go to post Secondary, that is a personal choice. If you choose to go to an expensive school, that's the individuals choice.

 @9MB3VWLfrom British Columbia  answered…11mos11MO

No, the government should attempt to find a way to decrease tuition rates (at least proportionally to inflation) by figuring why it increased (aside from inflation)

 @8TBDVVPfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

It would depend on size of university. Cap on limits of international students.

 @8SCKB7Wfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8RB6PRSfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I think education should be achievable by all. I also believe that those who have more than others can afford to pay more than others. How does someone with one dollar ever compete with someone who holds one million dollars.

 @8PSX27FLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, and the government should provide free education to Canadian Citizens followed by a requirement that graduates work for Cnadian Government, Non profit or Canadian owned businesses for the number of years they studied as in Australia.

 @8MSXHSTfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No. As long as there remain options for education to be subsidized for qualified individuals.

 @8KB5S2Lfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

University should be free - education is a right and a University degree is the 1990's High School Diploma.

 @8K25NPTfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

university fee for programmes like under-graduation is not as high but the tuition fee is high for master programmes like med school and law school which makes sense also. however, there are many international students who want to study in Canada, students with great potential. the fee for them should not be as high as it is now. it is more than even triple the fee for a residence or a citizen.

 @8JW7JG5from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Cut government employee wages and frivolous unnecessary spending and have government funded post secondary education. So all Canadian youth have the opportunity without incurring years of student loan debt. Strong minds and educated youth mean a stronger nation moving forward.

 @8JKC33TGreenfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but tuition for every program should be reduced by the same amount to make schooling more affordable for everyone.

 @8JFRYWMfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No but schools should offer free apprenticeships classes from grade 10 on. We put too much emphasis on education and not enough on experience and hands on training.

 @8GRFQW7from British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

The federal government should adopt the same education platform as Australia wherein your education is free up until you have worked in your chosen career for a year.

 @8DRKYZGfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

This should be based on the level of education given to the student by the University.

 @8DN9QDDNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

Restrict foreign students. Canadian students can't get into institutions because they favour high paying foreign students who then leave the country.

 @9BK2RQ6from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

I would be cautious, but I would say yes. It helps keep education affordable for the general population, but it also encourages schools to be more transparent. However, there should also be investments in research and development, as well as funding to help schools done by the provinces and federal governments, as a way to help keep them updated.

 @8KHYFYXfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

This is such a complex issue. Simply putting a cap on tuition rates would have other negative consequences - the government needs to provide support in other ways.

 @8H4NMP6from British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

University professors need to be able to mark students work without worrying about the loss of potential income from international students.

 @8FHLTC5from British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, and the government should provide free post-secondary education. Not just universities.

 @9D36K4QLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

It's a difficult situation, as it could limit school's ability to provide more services to students as well as funding for other programs and research, but it could also really help some students as well with the high cost of living. I would say a middle ground is to form a students union so that there is a least discussion.
