I believe that there should more privatized healthcare to reduce overcrowding in the hospitals and allow for faster medical attention. However, there should be more government funding going to public healthcare in order to ensure that everyone is able to access some form of healthcare. Our medical system is in shambles and needs to be fixed.

 @B4MYVZQfrom British Columbia  answered…4 days4D

There should be more of both public and private infrastructures and private services should be regulated to some extent to avoid fees getting out of control.

 @B4LFDDBfrom British Columbia  answered…6 days6D

Private clinics should be permitted but receive no government funding. Additionally, we need to allow more nurse practitioners to offer the same services as family GPs, produce more doctors (or promote immigration of Dr.s from other countries), but we need to reign in the salaries of doctors. There is no reason a GP should make 3 to 500k per year after receiving a taxpayer subsidized education. GP salaries and Nurse practitioner salaries could be 180k to 225k for providing family practice services and that would be a fair wage for services offered. If domestically produced Dr.s leave the country they can pay back the government for the subsidized education they received.

Make it easier to get into med school or nurse practitioner to have more practitioners. Privatizing isn’t going to do anything - it’s a lack of practitioners.

 @B4GKN26from British Columbia  answered…2wks2W

More private clinics for people willing to pay and some of that cost is added to the public system to fund people that cannot afford to pay for quicker service

 @B4FKL3Lfrom British Columbia  answered…2wks2W

any one who does not believe we already have a two tiered system is wrong. We already have private health care , you can arrange to jump the que if you are on a Workers Compensation Claim for example. You can choose to get varicous veins done at hospital under General anesthetic and a hospital stay, or pay the same surgeon to do it under local in his clinic.

 @B49S5T9Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…3wks3W

I think that providing more privatization with in the health care field would reduce wait times, that said I believe in universal health care, and think that Canada could do a better job of mixing the two sectors. That being said the reality is we currently have a doctors shortage so we need to increase the amount of medical schools.

 @B45X6NHfrom British Columbia  answered…3wks3W

Current funding model is lots of money with poor efficiency and outcomes. We need a hard look at how healthcare dollars are spent.

 @B3YMXQ2New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

The current system should be adjusted to reduce wait times without resorting to overt privatization.

 @B3VMZZGConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

more, we need to start granting more doctors access into canada, because too many people are going without doctors.

 @B3TRVKYfrom British Columbia  answered…1mo1MO

people should have access to private healthcare at their own expense for faster service, but there should also be subsidies for lower-income families who may not be able to afford this to ensure that everyone gets the care they need.

 @9WR8G39from British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Children should not be making choices for themselves when it comes to health, other than vacanations in highschool. Which they should tell you the side effects, and what it does to your body, no lies.

 @9WB4QYYfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

There should be more and better available heath resources in terms of our benefits coverage and government should be able to assist those who really need it.

 @9W6VQ89Liberalfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

If the privatization will help then increase it but after spending time in the states its also not the answer

 @9VVJGFWConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

Hard question. Profiting off of health care seems wrong, which would be the goal of private practice. However, this may increase competition and overall reduce end user cost.

 @9V9C6KBfrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

There should be more but with a caveat that there will be still enough funding and good quality care for those who rely on the current system.

 @9V79684from British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

Less, and provide more funding towards mental health and other dire medical needs that aren't covered under MSP

 @9SLJBJVfrom British Columbia  answered…8mos8MO

Less privatization…and implement standardization across every health authority and fix the division of labour (staffing and hours).

 @9SL8SK7from British Columbia  answered…8mos8MO

More privatized options, but also increase funding for the medical system by budget cutting pharmaceuticals and paying professionals fairly

 @9PS5L9Yfrom British Columbia  answered…10mos10MO

there are opportunities to fund private institutions, specifically when it comes to Imaging. there is no reason why a private firm can't set up and MRI clinic and then bill the government a certain amount. people should be allowed to pay more for these type of services if they want

 @B2VNVNWfrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

Increase urgent care clinic spaces and nurse led clinics specific to specialty (addictions, mental health, wound care, diabetes, maternity, rehab) and pay clinic doctors a wage instead of them billing for services.

 @B2C6CJZfrom British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

We should have more privatization but still hold a large public health system that can work with the private system

 @9VG7P4VConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

More into Life saving and less into personal alterations. Example, Epi pens should be covered but medical assisted transitioning should be a personal cost much like a plastic surgeries.

 @9VFXSQPfrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

I am satisfied with the current system, but please add more hospitals and doctors to avoid wait times

 @9T42CXPfrom British Columbia  answered…7mos7MO

More and less, private business could share resources and funding with hospitals. You shouldn't be able to spend a lot of money using a hospital, so maybe if it is a not so serious injury requiring less resources should be little to no money and more serious injuries would cost more because of the equipment used but it should be over 5-10 thousand dollars

 @9SSVCL2New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…8mos8MO

We need better access to doctors and 2nd opinions. If privatized care provides people with more immediate options, it should be a choice.

 @9K64YTNfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

We should be adding both so that people that want to pay for it can get it but the people who can’t pay for it still get healthcare and what they need to live

 @9K5GBGCfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

For every paying patient taken by a private clinic, they should be taking one off the public list at their cost.

 @9JY8ZT7from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

It depends on the location and support of certain hospitals as well as individual income circumstances

 @9JL9XYZConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I think a cool idea is to combine all medical institutions into one big company that would be a branch of government so the hospitals don’t have to pay tax lowering fees and tax burden. And then any company that over priced their medical services or drugs can be forced to lower prices or be outright confiscated then forcefully lower the price to lower fees then send out the company on the stock market so that something like that can’t happen to the company again. Just an idea I came up with.

 @9GPXW9Vfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I am in favor of a two party health care system. I believe those wishing access to public healthcare should be able to receive it, and the same for those looking for privatized healthcare.

Dual system, private for those that want to pay and public for those that cannot

 @9FDGX7Jfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9F84JWNfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

More but keep the health care system we already have just add privatization of some hospitals so they have some friendly competition like in Denmark and Sweden. Also make publicly funded hospitals more effective in their spending or you can put that funding in making nursing and doctor programs at school less expensive so more people get into health care.

 @9FN3JWB from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

The government should make 70 percents of health care public but with fast services and 30 percent private with less money

 @9F46RB4from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9CNLPYNfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but the federal government needs to make clear guidelines about all aspects and enforce the guidelines.

less but public healthcare systems should be improved (i.e more doctors, better services)

 @95T45XJfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95QSRCCfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

There should be an equal amount of privatization of hospital and healthcare services in relation to public healthcare services so that people who want higher-quality healthcare services can choose.

 @958MNJXfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94CPRD6from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94C42JLfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Privatization often means that people who need the services the most get them at a much more expensive cost, with reduced services than if government was to take care of it. But, we should also continue partnering with the private sector through research/patents to make progress for as many people as possible.

 @939G877from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZDKWTXfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Have a basic public system. Also have privatization with no government regulations to keep costs cheaper

 @8YWMBC6from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XPQKWPfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Not every health care should be covered. Factors of assumed risk(sports) or blatant stupidity (drinking and driving) should weigh into a percentage of cost imposed on the patient.

 @8WWDGT7from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

Less: Free health care is essential because a lot of people can't afford to pay the amount of money that is needed. Basically what Canada is doing.

 @8W8THCXfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

The current system is good a some things, but needs to be better managed. Too much money wasted on nurses benefits. Ie holidays/wages/sick leave, is a lot higher than other industries.

 @8W667TTfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

If you have the money to be able to pay for faster health care services at a privatized hospital, then you should be able to.

 @8W65M27from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

More, there could be more privatization to give people with the means, more choice. However, it should not influence the current system and make health care inaccessible to everyone.

 @8VWXDZSfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

More -this might help to offer options for quicker turnaround in health care system and keep patients on track with surgery other health related services, however, not at expense of those who cannot afford private health care.

 @8VWVVQ6from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VWQDQQfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

The current system is inefficient and unsustainable. Privatization should be limited to only improving quality of care for all if it can reduce the cost for related equivalencies. Demand on the system and it's inability to internally generate inputs create constant constraints. From education, to manufacturing and design, to operations, the process needs better performance management.

 @8VVC2WLfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I am ok with a private system to compliment the public system provided we ensure the public system is effective and efficient.

 @8VRYVYPfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VRTYGRfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VNYD9DConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Both systems should exist. There should be some private hospitals created beside government ones. Without losing the quality of the government ones.

 @8VLMRKLfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

There should be a continued commitment to providing a healthcare system that everyone has access to. But there needs to be an emphasis on quality of care, long wait times for care cannot continue to be the norm.

 @8VLKD3Zfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

We need a mixture system,
Both private and social.

For surgerys its all covered by the people through taxes.

For minor visits we pay a small fee (unless its an emergancy)

We have far too many good doctors leave for the USA for a bigger pay cheque, we need to keep them here.

This should also help reduce wait times

 @8VKC8BKfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VJH7P5from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

There is NO reason why we can’t have both systems. If people want to spend their hard earned money on private health care it should be their right and it opens up the social healthcare for those who cannot afford otherwise.

 @8VHTPRZfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Subsidize naturopathic and holistic/preventative care and other paramedical services. Make them accessible and affordable to more people so less reliant on pharmaceuticals

 @8VHM4PKNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Free health care should be a given, waiting hours to be seen by a doctor is where the problem is. We need more doctors, more initiative for people to want to be in the health care system.

 @8VFMF8Jfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

All essential healthcare should be under the public system. IF, after all tax dollars are spent there is bandwidth for healthcare workers to take on additional work outside of the public system, for example operating room time that is not needed for public healthcare, then Canadians should be able to pay for a service taking them out of the queue for publicly funded healthcare.

 @8V99PQMfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V8D44RNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

We should allow for a two tiered system in which peole can opt to pay for private care if they are unable to get sufficient access to care or get stuck on lengthy waitlists and need to see specialists.

 @8V86669from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V8275Mfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

More oversight of allocation of assets, there is a lot of waste in the system so that assets are not being used efficiently or effectively.

We Need more facilities but many seniors require subsidization... Gov. Only has a few beds that are subsidized inmost facilities, a d they are not Nxious to build Mor places... Why couldn't a small deduction be collected per cheque towards better places for future of seniors - you take taxes and take our money earned for cpp and oas, BUT there is still no place affordable to live independently that is reasonable, in size, quality, safety, affordability and availability as seniors on gov.
