Pregnancy can pose various health risks to women, and the decision to have an abortion should be a matter of personal choice, ultimately resting with the pregnant woman. Similar to the principle that no one is obliged to donate their organs to save another person's life, a pregnant woman should not be compelled to continue a pregnancy if it's not her choice. Furthermore, situations arise where a woman may genuinely desire to have children but finds herself in a precarious financial position, making it challenging to provide for the child's well-being. In such cases, the option… Read more
Abortion should be treated the same as any other medical procedure. you wouldn't criticize somebody for getting their appendix removed, because it doesn't concern you. why are people pro-life when many mothers' lives are endangered by a birth or pregnancy? In my opinion, it's an excuse to control and criticize women.
@9FPPGB22yrs2Y
This is a human right, women deserve the right to their body and we should make more options to make them feel safer.

Children born out of incest are likely to have issues which would mean more stress on the child and more stress on the mother. If a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, not allowing her the right to choose is essentially forcing her to have a child that will remind her of a very traumatic experience. Health risks are a huge concern in many pregnancies, and in some cases having a baby could be fatal for some women and if you are actually pro-life than you should value the life of someone who has actually lived.
@9FMT2NH2yrs2Y
pro choice is not just about physical safety when it come to the health of the mother. caring for a child takes alot of finacial stability, positvie mental health, access to child care services, a good living enviorment, among other things. so even if the mother and the baby would be perfectly healthy that does not mean that it is the best to have that baby.
@9GWF8MH1yr1Y
I think we forget mental health in this situation because even if something terrible hasn't led to the reason someone is pregnant there are people suffering with mental health issues that if they are forced to have a child they don't want will compromise the quality of care they give to that child.
@9GTKJ4S1yr1Y
A human being should be able to choose what they do with their body, and what their body goes through. If a women gets pregnant but is to young to support them, does not have enough money to support them, or just DOES NOT WANT TO HAVE A BABY then they should have the option to not go through with the pregnancy. Just because some people disagree with abortion does not mean that is should be illegal. It should be an option. Everyone should be able to choose how their life goes, for some that does not involve having a child, or giving birth to one. No matter what the circumstance a person should be able to make their own decisions about their body.
@9FMMXRZ2yrs2Y
I think People should have the right to pick what they want to do with their body. Its their life and its not right for us to have to make them have a baby when they are not ready or underage.
@9GXV9V31yr1Y
Not all dangers to the mother or child are clean cut answers, sometimes it is not completely physical harm that people are avoiding it is mental harm that they can cause to themselves or to the child. Teen pregnancies are increasing and plenty of those teens are not able to care for that child causing mental problems on themselves and to the child if they have them. However, this is not always the case but only the women is able to correctly identify if they are able to create a positive and healthy life for a child.
@9GGTW3J2yrs2Y
Abortion should be allowed regardless of purpose because some people can't afford to support and home a child.
@9GGTB5K2yrs2Y
i think they should have a choice either way even if it isnt in the case of any of those, if shes just not ready for a kid she is allowed to get an abortion
It is the mothers decision, ultimately it should be their choice especially if it was something like this that happened.
@9GGNRFW2yrs2Y
Everyone should be allowed to have an abortion, if people start saying that "Oh, only people who were raped (yada yada yada) can get an abortion" means that others can start claiming that women are like, pretending to be raped just to get an abortion which is an abuse of power and very icky.
@9FLJWKN2yrs2Y
Women aren't always in the right circumstances to have a child and its their bodies they should be able to choose what happens to them
@9FKPXG82yrs2Y
i say forget pro-life. im 100 percent pro-choice, and so should everyone else. no man should have any say about a woman's body.
@9FRKYNN2yrs2Y
If you accidentally get pregnant, you should have the choice to reverse it. Like if one night you want to then realize what you did, then you should be able to change that.
Absolutely agree with the latter point, but we can’t forget that many women who are seeking an abortion are doing so because they are financially and socially disadvantaged. It can be more harmful to bring a baby into a situation where they are not properly cared for, fed, clothed etc.
@9GHHWBX2yrs2Y
You shouldn't shame someone for getting an abortion no matter the circumstances, it's their body. What if they aren't financially ready for a child?
@B52KP452 days2D
If the mother knows she can’t provide a good life for the baby then she should be able to have a choice. No one should be forced to go through labour and make a life long commitment if they know they can’t support the baby. I also don’t think men should be making laws about womens bodies. Men birth control should become more normalized.

A 14 year old girl looses her virginity to a 14 year old boy. now their parents ,if they have parents, are stuck staying home to raise this child so their kid can finish school. This is a best case scenario for two young people and not likely chances are the young couple will try and fail to raise a child and finish school trapped at dead end jobs without a high school degree barely making enough to put food on the table and exhausting there support system if they have a support system and most likely separating and the child grows up poor in a broken home without anyway to pay tuition for secondary school (which needs to be regulated)just downhill from there
@B4YF36R5 days5D
No matter how a child is conceived, a woman should be able to decide what she wants to do. Especially if they are not in a position to support a child or it puts either at health risks.
@B4X2FGDNew Democratic6 days6D
I believe abortions should be allowed but it shouldn't just be the woman's choice (in some cases). If there is NO risk to the mothers life and the father wants the child then there should be a judicial process** for him. Almost like the adoption process. That being said it should 100% be the woman's choice in the case of rape and it should be required in the case of incest.
@B4SXKQ91wk1W
Any pregnant could be a danger to the child or mother. There are so many complications in pregnant and child birth, whether physical or psychological. Pregnant women also face an increase in domestic violence. An unwanted child, or a child that a mother is not ready to raise will face hardship in their upbringing, mental health, and living circumstances. It’s not fair to bring a child into the world if the parents feels as though they are not in a place where they can sustainable and ethically provide for that child. @B45VWTZNew Democratic1mo1MO
At that point then just let people make the decisions for themselves. Don’t force anything onto others.
@B44Y3CY1mo1MO
It’s still not the pro lifers body: there are financial, personal, and familial reasons that someone may choose an abortion.
@B3X8TYM2mos2MO
Pro-life is a biggoted blanket statement and suffocating generalized viewpoint, as it removes the individual and vulnerable experience of each person who may become, or has become pregnant. It should not be a regulated topic. It is a health and wellness issue that should be entrusted by each person in the patients chair.
@B3VH6Y62mos2MO
If a women gets raped or is in danger and gets pregnant accidentally, they should have a choice to abort it or not. No female should have to go through something they aren't prepared for.
@B3RVLY32mos2MO
Under this exception, one dismisses the multitude of unwanted teen pregnancies. Before age 25, although a mother may feel ready, or fit for birth, a number of mental problems threaten the pregnant developing mind, and the fetus. The stress of growing up too fast can lead to anxiety, depression, which could be inherited.
Disagree it is the woman’s choice because if they aren’t ready it would only hurt the child in the future
@B3225742mos2MO
This requires legislators to be able to properly identify, charge, convict, or otherwise ensure that people using this medical service are "eligible" and opens up opportunities for those officials to allow or reject the medical service based on personal bias, for institutions to delay the medical service, and cannot ensure that individuals in danger are properly serviced because - for lack of better terms - this introduces too much red tape. Instead, it needs to be entirely available and in fringe cases where people abuse the medical service, they should be investigated instead.
@B2PMF8C3mos3MO
If you allow it for all of these why not allow it for anyone who chooses, why would you want to force someone to have a baby they aren’t ready for or don’t want
some women just don't want children and we aren't living in the 30's anymore, women have lives of their own and wanting to live them shouldn't be criminalised especially since contraception doesn't work 100 percent of the time.
@B2K98V33mos3MO
This option is better than full pro-life, however you cannot stop people from having sexual relations. It happens, teenagers do it and sometimes they are not fully educated. You cannot stop them, it happens and will continue happening. On average, women start menstruating around 12 years old, however it can be as early as 8. With the inability to stop teenagers from having sexual relations, and some not fully educated, there is many pregnancies in young teens. Sure this is an issue of “irresponsibility”, however there is nothing that can be done besides pushing sexual education towards young children, which many are also opposed of. No child or teen will be 100% responsible, that is simply how the world works.
@B29YYNK4mos4MO
I would agree with most of this argument except for the part where even if the mother wanted this baby, but the quality of life for the child would be awful. They could take a genetic test and it could show that the baby likely wouldn’t live past a week old, some mothers wouldn’t have the strength to go through that, and sometimes abortion is an easier solution to avoid extra heartache.
@9ZJ9NQ26mos6MO
would you really want a child raising a child? would you want that kid to grow up in poverty? most people dont adopt, would you adopt that kid?
@9ZF7PQX6mos6MO
our foster system needs to be improved and reformed. and there needs to be actual support and resources for mothers who face financial difficulties.
@9M3SVQ212mos12MO
That would be a choice. In the case of would you keep the child if you were sexually assaulted ... it would be a choice. So welcome to the Pro-Choice team? Who gets to dictate the impact the significance of one choice over the other and thus full pro-choice would be the best option.
@9LX8JZW1yr1Y
Do you not have to consider abortion to be the murder of an innocent, to be Pro-Life? Does the fetus resulting from rape bear guilt for being conceived, and deserves then 'to be murdered'? To say "I'm Pro-Life, but..." is immediately inconsistent, hypocritical even, with the foundational logic behind being Pro-Life.
Why is it fair that only under life threatening circumstances someone is allowed to get an abortion.
@9LV36HX1yr1Y
So make it illegal unless they relive their traumas. I think people would rather not especially not to a stranger
If you would allow a child to be aborted in these cases, why does the mothers wishes and desires become anything less than the reasons provided? Even if she is in a happy situation and doesn't want a child she should be allowed to do what she wants with her body as long as she isn't harming anyone.
@9KX4Q9H1yr1Y
if you have to argue about rape, incest, or danger to a mother or child over the fate of a cluster of cells, you're going to hell, my dude.
Ultimately, the decision of what a women should be able to do with their own body should be left up to them. If someone is not ready to have a child, then they should not have to.
@9JT82G71yr1Y
People still make mistakes, maybe they were irresponsible but that doesn’t mean they should still be taken away the right to do something of their choice to their body. The case isn’t always that they were irresponsible, there’s been many cases where these happen by accident which means that having a child wasn’t what they wanted. Even if it wasn’t rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child, its still the mothers body and it should still be here choice if she wants to keep the child or not.
@9HXH3FW1yr1Y
The women is a victim and she should not be stuck with a child she may not want nor be able to take care of in some situations.
@B4W5XLV7 days7D
Abortion should be nothing more than a medical procedure, cherry picking which situations women should or shouldn’t be able to choose for themselves only further perpetuates harmful double standards.
@B4TBVQN1wk1W
These cases are not always provable in the court of law - and women should ultimately have all control over their body
@B4T89XR1wk1W
These are all excellent reasons to have an abortion but there are so many other things we see where children are brought into the world and suffer examples such as:
A mother who is a drug addict who has a baby who is now also a drug addict
Parents who are not in a financial position to care for a child and the child ends up going from abusive foster home to abusive foster home or ends up homeless with the parents.
Children that are born with severe disabilities who have low quality of life and carry heavy financial expenses for the parents due to medical expenses and sure we don't pay for medical procedures and visits directly but we have to pay for 24/7 care, diapers, Machines, hospitals beds for home care, wheelchairs, etc.
@B3XK6SJ2mos2MO
Why do you only value a women’s choice when she has been raped or worse? Why does she need to suffer in order for you to respect her choice in becoming a mother or not? If under some circumstances it’s okay to abort, but not others, that turns into “he said, she said”. Your subjective opinion about what is right and wrong should not derail someone’s life, and undergoing an unwanted pregnancy would certainly derail someone’s life.
@B3FRC822mos2MO
if someone were to get SA'd by a 'friend' or even family member- they should not have to give birth to that baby and be reminded every day of the horrible thing that happened to them. it also occurs in family very often- and giving birth to a baby that was conceived unwillingly by a family member is incest and the baby would have many issues.
as well as if the mother struggles with mental health issue she may not even be able to properly care for a baby or maybe she is too young to give it a proper good life.
@B3FFFVR2mos2MO
It individual case is different, there is factors in people’s lives that we aren’t aware of. The mother could be in abusive situation, the family could be in a tough financial situation. Adoption and foster care can be far worse than just simply terminating the pregnancy before the fetus is even viable.
@9HBNNW21yr1Y
people should have the choice. Starting a family is difficult thing that not everyone can handle mentally and financially.
@9H6CZY41yr1Y
I agree to a certain extent but i still believe it should be someone’s choice because it’s their life and their body
@9GPJVB91yr1Y
It is not a woman's burden to support another person, with the risk of great bodily harm to herself, without her consent. Ever. She is free to withdraw that consent at any time.
This position recognizes at least in theory that a woman should have to consent to being pregnant, but it implies that just because a woman becomes pregnant that is somehow "consent."
No! People can have sex just for enjoyment, we live in a free society. The insinuation that having sex automatically means you want to get pregnant is sexist and rooted in a backwards ideology that women only exist to bear children. Women should have total control over their bodies.
@9FTHTQF2yrs2Y
I am Pro-Choice, but only until 5 weeks, after 5 weeks once the fetus develops a heart, i am pro-life. However if it is rape, incest, or a danger to people involved, then i would allow it past that 5 week mark.
@9FS3CRK2yrs2Y
If a woman's pregnancy is dangerous to her and she will die unless the baby is aborted, are you going to let an already living, breathing, loved human die instead of a fetus that nobody has ever met?
@B524BV92 days2D
An accidental or unplanned pregnancy should not stop a woman from her dreams, such as a spot in medical school or literally changing the course of her whole life.
@B35LXTJ2mos2MO
the fact that someone would have to prove rape, incest, danger etc could be detrimental to their mental health or safety. The feeling of shame or guilt around having an abortion shouldn’t be weighed down with further potential shame of how the pregnancy happened.

@9FMQTKSNew Democratic2yrs2Y
I think that no matter how it happens, it should always be the womans choice. Its her body and other people shouldnt decide what to do with it.
"Danger to mother or child" is too hard to define. It should be the woman's choice what happens to her body.
@9FL5MPF2yrs2Y
I feel that we should have the choice to do abortion because it is something that happens to our body and we have the right to choose what we do with our bodies.
@9FJKDG92yrs2Y
Women should have a right to choose what their body goes through, pregnancy is traumatic even when wanted. Also, there is enough pain/trauma associated with being raped or incest, so why would you want to force a reminder onto the woman of what happened to her? Even if she were to give up the child for adoption, there will still be stretch marks and 9 months of her life reminding her. Regarding danger to the mother/child, why would someone bring a child into a situation where their life is at risk? That is unfair. Project the child. They deserve to be raised in a safe and loving environment, by the choice of their parents. If that isn’t possible, then abortion is completely a valid option
@9FPS27B2yrs2Y
I think this would be better than to complete say no to abortions. Yes, it's a life but it depends on the situation of the mother and the child and how they can support the child's upbringing.

The best counterargument to the pro-life with exceptions for rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child position is that it inconsistently applies the pro-life belief that a fetus is a person with a right to life. If abortion is considered murder, as many pro-life advocates argue, then why should it be allowed in certain cases? The circumstances of conception—whether through rape or incest—do not change the biological status of the fetus, yet these exceptions acknowledge that forcing someone to carry a pregnancy in these cases is cruel and unjust. If bodily autonomy matters… Read more

@B25VVRC 4mos4MO
40% of people chose to do abortion because of their financial struggles. 20% of people said they weren't physically and mentally able to handle a child. There are many factors that go on that can impact one's life. The public isn't one to decide how to solve those factors.
@9MKCM4B 12mos12MO
A compelling argument against the pro-life stance that permits exceptions for situations including rape, incest, or risk to the mother or child is that it contradicts the fundamental ideas of reproductive rights and bodily autonomy. These exclusions limit women's choices and autonomy even as they recognize the seriousness of some situations. Without hindrance or condemnation, every woman ought to be able to make decisions about her own body and reproductive health. Furthermore, making exceptions leads to a precipice where a woman's decision to seek an abortion is deemed worthy depending on the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy or the perceived danger, so sustaining discrimination and stigma. Thus, upholding a pro-choice position guarantees that every woman has equal access to safe and authorized abortion.
@B4HC9ZT 3wks3W
Abortion should be available to all women, no matter the age or situation but they should enforce the education of safe sex so pregnancies that are consensual don't need to get abortions.
