In 2010 the Conservative government introduced a crime bill which would kill the so-called faint hope clause that allows some people serving life sentences to apply for parole after 15 years (instead of the usual 25 common for first-degree murder and other life sentence convictions). Opponents of the crime bill argue that extended prison sentences are cruel and will cost the government tens of millions of dollars per year.Proponents argue that 15 years is too short of a prison term for people serving life sentences.

The person should have 30 years not 15
@968LM583yrs3Y
yes, depending on the situation
@968J6P93yrs3Y
Depends on the context, if they were being forced into it (I.E: Blackmailed, "brainwashed", etc) then yes. But if they show no remorse at all. Let them rot. Heck maybe bring back the death penalty and bring back the guillotine which surprisingly is actually very humane as it kills the person instantly.
@9392TXQ3yrs3Y
depending on how it happened
@937WKVRRhinoceros3yrs3Y
Depends if they have truly changed from their past life
@8YHJT7B3yrs3Y
depending on the prisoner while in their sentence.
yes they should be eligible but more than 15 years later
No, unless the murderer was acting as self defense in an abusive home or situation and can prove the police didn't provide help for their safety when asked.

I suggest case by case, but mainly focus on the rehabilitation, cleanliness and family structure for prisoners (punish prisoners with less family time, reward prisoners with much more family time.)
@8T9J27K4yrs4Y
No they deserve more time
@8T9HJCTNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No, have them serve 25 years before applying for parole.
@9BZVZSP2yrs2Y
It depends on the reason for murder
@96G3ZZL3yrs3Y
Only if the way they did it wasn't heinous and if they showed they were no longer a threat to society and if it was justifiable.
@937DWJL3yrs3Y
if the judge thinks they may have change in jail.
@8ZJZ8QB3yrs3Y
Yes, if they are provided with rehabilitation programs and pass a psychological evaluation showing they are no longer a threat to society
@8XV3CRX3yrs3Y
If they earned the life sentence for something they did and has been proven guilty, then they should be in the for life.
@8XSJNLD3yrs3Y
yes if the years were maybe 20-25
@8YZ86G63yrs3Y
