Depends on the context, if they were being forced into it (I.E: Blackmailed, "brainwashed", etc) then yes

But if they show no remorse at all. Let them rot. Heck maybe bring back the death penalty and bring back the guillotine which surprisingly is actually very humane as it kills the person instantly.
