In the first 4 months of 2015 Transport Canada issued 1,600 permits for commercial drones. In contrast, the U.S.’s Federal Aviation Administration issued only 69. Over 110 companies in Canada now provide commercial drone services, which are regularly used by the movie and television industry, oil and gas companies, forestry companies and farmers.

Not for delivery of fast food to lazy people. But for research in places that are hard to reach and for safety in search and rescue situations on ski hills and in wilderness areas and the like, drones could be a real good option.
@9WYDMSD6mos6MO
Only if it does not stand in the way of people securing employment as delivery people, ideally automation and human workers should benefit eachother and a business to lower prices and increase wages while not causing unemployment, instead those extra profits can be used to hire more people to increase efficiency and productivity even more.
@9VGR4J96mos6MO
Drones should be allowed in use purely for things like agriculture and If i see a drone flying a qr code its crashing.
@9SSPZP48mos8MO
Drones should be able to be used as long as it isn’t for criminal or terrorist stuff or invading people’s privacy.
@9NMWPJK10mos10MO
I’m torn. Drones could impact public safety and take away jobs. But they could potentially lower costs to consumers (aka us regular people)
Yes... but could be a complete nightmare regarding traffic controlling. Absolutely no flying over private property unless the owner has requested it presence. Absolutely NO side scanning or spying on adjacent property.
@9HXRHLD1yr1Y
Yes, but we should have strict privacy regulations/security. Eg. No videoing/strict passwords for data about adresses & personal information.
@9FQ4GWH2yrs2Y
Yes, only if it does not interfere with existing infrastructure
@9FMQV7P2yrs2Y
Yes, as long as it is safely monitored with a punishment involved for anyone who uses this illegally
@9FKQZWZ2yrs2Y
It really depends on what kind of use it's used for.
@9FHCTXZ2yrs2Y
Yes, it should but only if the government ensures the permits go to responsible and learned pilots who know safety procedures and risks handling drones.
@9FHCKZF2yrs2Y
Yes and no it would depend on the circumstances
@9FFQH2V2yrs2Y
Depends on what commercial
@9FB6JX82yrs2Y
Yes, as long as it follows proper guidelines
@9F76Q8G2yrs2Y
Yes, add regulations for noise, interference with civilians etc.
@9CQ8CWT2yrs2Y
Yes but not at the expense of jobs creation or wages
@96JFK3F3yrs3Y
Depends what is meant by commercial purposes
@96BH6BNNew Democratic3yrs3Y
Yes, in limited situations
@96B43NF3yrs3Y
Only for certain reasons
@96934R53yrs3Y
Yes but not for delivery services
With permission and maybe a fee
@963W6K93yrs3Y
Yes, but with high priority on the safety of people and wildlife in the event of a malfunction.
@95R2FCY3yrs3Y
The government should allow drones for commercial purposes but not for certain uses
@95PFDDS3yrs3Y
Only with the permission or contract with the government
@95K5YQG3yrs3Y
No. Many of these jobs help keep people afloat, and companies shouldn't be allowed to just replace huge amounts of jobs with automation. Yes, it might be faster and more efficient for the company, but it could leave thousands out of a job..
@95CFWSQ3yrs3Y
There are some conditions for drone use, but limited and regulated heavily for the public good.
@958M2GP3yrs3Y
i dont think that matters
@958H2GH3yrs3Y
yes but there should be a license you need to get before you are allowed access
Yes, In regulated circumstances.
@9548BF83yrs3Y
@94VP9NS3yrs3Y
Yes, but in only prescribed areas deemed safe to do so.
@9468DD23yrs3Y
No, due to the possible negative consequences with wildlife.
@942J6D5New Democratic3yrs3Y
Yes but not on private property
@924HKTH3yrs3Y
@8ZM4Q6D3yrs3Y
To an extent, but people need job positions and drones could make people lose important jobs.
@8Z82ZM23yrs3Y
Regulated use of drone, address issues of privacy and national security.
@8Z4ZDM83yrs3Y
@8YZY8PS3yrs3Y
Yes, but ONLY if the drones DO NOT spy on people
Maybe to certain things, but not all. So many people will use their jobs if so.
@8YZRFFL3yrs3Y
Only in some circumstances to allow for pedestrian drone use for photographers.
@8YY974W3yrs3Y
Yes, but should get permission first
@8YXLXKC3yrs3Y
As long as it does not invade privacy, it is good.
Not over private property unless for hired work
@8YCSC7R3yrs3Y
Depends what the drowns are used for specifically
Only for very specific situations that do not infringe on privacy.
@8Y5NP7X3yrs3Y
Depends much on what the purpose is actually.
@8XBJ3YGNew Democratic3yrs3Y
which type of commercial is this🤔
@8X6PMZD3yrs3Y
@8WPWWMF3yrs3Y
i think to use one you have to get a permit and you have to have it with you when flying it
@8WGNW974yrs4Y
Somewhat, but it should be used for other things as well.
@8W56MJS4yrs4Y
Only for situations where it is absolutely necessary
@8W5274K4yrs4Y
Depends of the situation because this could potentially get really dangerous.
Licences should be more regulated
@8W44DKV4yrs4Y
Yes, however they should avoid being too close to private properties.
@8VX2X274yrs4Y
Yes, but there should be boundaries in place
@8VVV4B94yrs4Y
With licensing and enforcement
@8VVKKVJ4yrs4Y
EH. I Don't really care, what they do in the world anymore.
@8VTXN694yrs4Y
Most research is needed, but personal drones should be able to be used with a license.
@8VTSW2H4yrs4Y
Depends on the nature of the use
@8VSY8KF4yrs4Y
yes but with restrictions/regulations
@8VSQLKY4yrs4Y
Define commercial purpose
@8VSPSZJ4yrs4Y
In certain industries where it makes the most feasible and fiscally responsibile sense
as long as its respectful of peoples privacy and park regulations
@8VSDKLT4yrs4Y
What kind of commercial services?
@8VRZR594yrs4Y
Only in non public places (outdoors far from people’s privacy)
@8VRQRMP4yrs4Y
@8VRCRDF4yrs4Y
Yes, with privacy limitation
@8VRC67T4yrs4Y
Yes provided they fufill a application of what the intended use is, and they are given restrictions to abide by regarding flying height, noise, timing allowed in airspace etc to prevent disturbance to citizens
@8VR4X934yrs4Y
No that would take jobs away from people who need them
@8VQ37K54yrs4Y
Depends on the use/circumstance. This question is too open-ended that, for 90% of people, this question is a waste of time.
@8VN6NN54yrs4Y
As long as drone use doesn’t compromise public privacy, the government should not be able to prevent drone usage.
@8VN56M64yrs4Y
Not saying that they already do. But for the sake of argument, If they really want to, why would anyone vote going to make a difference.
@8VMCVSC4yrs4Y
Yes if heavily monitored
@8VM6Y744yrs4Y
only if there is a noticeable benefit or reduction in costs.
@8VLTY7Q4yrs4Y
Not enough information on pros/cons of the topic are available
@8VLRWGM4yrs4Y
yes but only in respect of the privacy of the public
@8VLGTNN4yrs4Y
Needs to be monitored by an independent company
@8VLG64N4yrs4Y
Only if it can be regulated to ensure there is no abuse of individual's privacy.
@8VL5Z864yrs4Y
I don't really care about this
@8VKZWMG4yrs4Y
Maybe for some things like tornado sightings or something like that.
@8VJQ7MJ4yrs4Y
Yes providing no breaches of personal privacy and some laws put in place to control use
@8VJ7DM54yrs4Y
Depends on the type of commercialism
@8VHSMJQ4yrs4Y
I’d have to know more about how they’d be used…. I am concerned about privacy as well as the impact on wildlife
@8VHN2NCRhinoceros4yrs4Y
Depends on the purpose of using the drone
@8VHKZZ54yrs4Y
depends on situation...whether appropriate in situation eg forest fire fighting
@8VGM3S44yrs4Y
If the drones are being used to deliver medicine and/or goods to remote communities that are otherwise difficult to reach, why aren't we doing that already. If companies plan on using drones in higher population areas, no as they might interfere with pre-existing air traffic, crash in the middle of a major road or any other number of things. So I believe that until we can develop better drones and drone friendly infrastrcuture (designated routes, landing points, etc.) it is best to only use drones in rural or hard to reach areas.
@8VG8PJHNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Permit the use with a permit
@8VFNH6P4yrs4Y
Yes, but they should be licences and monitored
@8VFMVXJ4yrs4Y
All drones should be licences and monitored for abuse
@8VFBJXW4yrs4Y
Yes, but only if there are very clear regulations and policies in place
Yes key word is commercial not law enforcement
@8VCNMXY4yrs4Y
It depends on the degree of uses. Example: are they being used to spy on or destroy competitors in their fields.
