The Liberals' inaugural budget contains a $29.4-billion deficit for 2016 which is 10.2% of government spending. Proponents of spending argue that it is a great time for the government is going to borrow money, since interest rates are at 50 year lows. Opponents argue that the spending could get out of control and the debt could easily reach $100 billion a year by 2020.

Yes, We shouldn’t be adding to debt to make certain groups happy. No matter race, creed, or religion. We are all the same. Therefore, money should go to services that everyone uses. Every type of person drives, so things like pothole maintenance, which is for everyone should have priority over a social service for a singular group.

Politicians should have their salaries and benefits dramatically cut. Down to no more than $80k a year until our economy is providing for all citizens.
Reduce government salaries and government spending on unnecessary things, reduce number of government officials and agencies

Keep growth in spending to less than 2percent and eliminate waste within all departments. Eliminate out of date programs and freeze hiring for 2 years. Limit pay increases to 2.5 percent annually.

Public funding should be geared towards evidence based policy. I endorse pruning wasteful spending and spending where evidence is lacking or contrary. I do believe reducing national debt is important.
@8L47BR24yrs4Y
for sure not because we are the ones paying all of the money that the goverment gets
@8CM9FY3Conservative5yrs5Y
Somewhat yes, there are way too many outs for free compensation. But the multinational corporations definitely need there tax loopholes revoked and must pay a higher tax.
@98WRY442yrs2Y
No but increase taxes on the wealthy and large multinational corporations, and focus on ending tax evasion as well.
@9D5HV3N2yrs2Y
Yes, and the federal govt should go back to pre-1974 policy of borroing all its operating funds from The Bank of Canada at low rates of simple interest, instead of the post-1974 (to current) practice of borrowing all its operating funds form private banks at compounded interest.
Ninety percent of our current national debt is the result of interest charged on interest, and less than ten percent of that borrowed money was used to operate the nation.
Stop borrowing form private banks and the debt will take care of itself.
