No. Any citizen or permanent resident who hasn't been convicted of an indictable offence or involuntarily committed should be allowed to buy, possess, and carry firearms for sport shooting, hunting, or self-defence. A national "stand your ground" law should be passed.

Only specific stuff like Assault rifles, Snipers, Shotguns and Mines should be banned. Pistols and Semi Auto carbines should be allowed for self defence and stand your ground should be allowed.

Guns for hunting should be allowed with a permit and an evaluation before getting the permit. These guns should be locked up in a gun safe at all times until you use them for hunting.

Everyone has the right to defend themselves. It is whether or not they can physically or mentally defend themselves is important. We should not bring weapons of war into our daily lives.
