Yes but not huge rail lines. They're fast and convenient, but very expensive, and we have a deficit.

 @B49LL2ZLiberalfrom Alberta  answered…3wks3W

NO. This would absolutely increase the homeless population, not just in alberta, but the whole country itself, people use public transportation everyday.

 @B2KXFY8from Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

No, public transportation in Canada is only for criminals and vagrants now. It's a health risk taking it.

 @B2DQSLR from Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, there should be a larger focus on making it free, accessible, and environmentally friendly so more people use it

 @9V5Y68Nfrom Alberta  answered…7mos7MO

I would like for there to be an increase in government but I do not think it is an urgent priority to focus on in terms of funding.

 @9V2B3ZYCommunistfrom Alberta  answered…7mos7MO

No, in my opinion the cost of public transportation should be included in taxes, since paying it independently is not profitable for all people.

 @B2YZZ9TConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

I think they should make public transportation affordable because not everyone can afford it all the time and they should take the money they get from citizens and put it towards any issues the transportation may have or a charity that way it is going to a good cause.

 @B2VJ37Nfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

no but put an investment of winter tires on winter citys with transportation as well as not make the city vehicles electric as the emissions dont outlay the benefits

 @B2P8Y77from Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

Taxes should be used more effective to increase public transportation. Example: reduce pricy public “art” and use funding for transit.

 @9ZRYN8Zfrom Alberta  answered…5mos5MO

No, but I think the government should give tax breaks and incentives to private companies investing in public transportation

 @9KNX3BBfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, with an effort to create affordable passenger trains that run across Canada, similar to InterRail in Europe.

 @9KMF9GPfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if the province or city has a disparity in terms of the safeness and reliability of the public transport

 @9KM32WHfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and they should have more police officers and systems out in place to help people reach safety quickly enough rather than getting stabbed for no reason.

 @9K8HRYHfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

yes and provide BOTH free, public and environmentally friendly solutions - this should not come from tax payer dollars

 @9JT3V8QLiberalfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

They already spend enough money on public transportation and most of the income comes from the government itself in my opinion it should stay as it is.

 @9J3DSLYfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Certain cities with lots of sprawl need to be designed differently before public transport can become a viable option and therefore so it can be worth the extra funding

 @9FGK522from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Regardless there should not only be more free public transportation but also there should be more focus on other important issues.

 @9FGK49Kfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Environmentally friendly and affordable public transport, but focus on other things if needed.

 @9FDHSDNfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9FDBHTYfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9Q6K9XZfrom Alberta  answered…10mos10MO

Yes however the public transportation provided should be free and should take environmentally friendly solutions into account.

 @9P8NRFMNew Democratic from Alberta  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, and provide more free public transportation which also has spending going towards more environmentally friendly solutions.

 @9G2PN68from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, and implement taxes/tolls on those who wish to drive for their convenience instead of using public transit in high traffic areas.

 @9D7X3DVfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes and start changing urban planning to be less reliant on cars and more on trains. This would make living expenses cheaper and strengthen local infrastructure.

 @9BKH2QQfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only if this meant less expensive bus fair and more affordable bus passes for youth and adults.

 @96GN9N6from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

No need to increase government spending but make transportation cheaper or free.

 @957Y89Sfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @956CYVHfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but use the money thats going to foreign countries instead of adding more money or taking away from other funded things.

 @933LMPXfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @928SH73from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Make public transportation free and more accessible to people with disabilities, at least for long distances.

 @8ZHV85NConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZFVK9Gfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

no they should spend all their money on a new way of printing money so we can have one dollar bills in Canada to throw at strippers rather than coins

 @8Z46Y9Tfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

We need to maintain current infrastructure and set a program for ongoing maintenance before building new!

 @8W35X98from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

I don't use public transportation so I don't have an opinion on the matter

 @8VS8X53from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Provide subsidies for mentally and physically disabled Canadian citizens.

 @8VR79MXfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but depending on the city, some require major additional support, some not as much. But a well functioning and efficient public transportation system can significantly reduce the reliance on fossil fuel car usage in cities.

 @8VQYRBHfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

They should but as the population is increasing, otherwise yes but they shouldn't spend that much.

 @8VMDS2TGreenfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Pay for how much damage you riding this method of transportation does to the earth

 @8VM98C3from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VLX9PDfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VJNWNBfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only to allow for expansion of infrastructure, not to provide free access

 @8VJGX54from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VJBN4Wfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VHRZ7Vfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but it should be used to make public transport safer for passengers

 @8VH4XW8from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, however in ways where the money is not spent irrationally on Consultants and Politicians

 @8VFK4TLfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, funding should be per capita, where no public transportation is available, these funds could be redirected to crumbling infrastructure.

 @8V9TGW8from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Municipalities should worry about this on their own with provincial assistance if needed

 @8V6RLGMfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, but only if the current spending is efficient and is not enough for the future population

 @8V5C6H2from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V52ZTLfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, growing up I had to pay 5 bucks minimum to get a ride from friends or their older siblings. Still cheaper than cabs but I think we could reduce the spending limit.

 @8TZVBWQfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TZ33FZNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, we need to make transportation in our remote areas more accessible and dependable.

 @8TYFKX8from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Re-invest in rail transport using electrified trains especially for linking smaller cities to large hub airports. Airport security and low-price airlines has made flying uncomfortable and environmentally sustainable. New rail technologies are just as fast between land-based cities.

 @8TXRRVJfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, as cities like Calgary continue to grow, transit needs to grow with it. The LRT system should be upgraded into a Metro like Toronto and Montréal.

 @8TD69HWNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but current spending should go towards more environmentally friendly solutions

 @8T9RJZTfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8T22TK4from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SDXWRRfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, But with a transionary balance that ensures not only the satisfaction of the need for public transportation, but that also assures stability between transportation, enviromental, and economic effects. Assuring that the solutions to these, and the economic measures in order to ensure the transition, are purely beneficial; and not just the transition or transformation of a problematic situation to another in a different or same aspect of society

Make a functional public transit system but keep the fees because my city does not have a system that is very usable

 @8PTB22Nfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

The government should put more money into modernizing current systems but not rip off the citizens by increasing fares to retrieve their spending.

 @8PJF3QFfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if those funds go to making more buses available and creating more effective bus routes. We don't want any buses that come every 30 minutes.

 @8PHLLKQfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if the funding goes towards having more accessible bus routes and more often and consistent pick up times. Not any once every 30 minute garbage.

 @8PFW692Rhinocerosfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, there should be public transportation in cities at least every half hour, and public transportation between towns several times each day.

 @8NXXMVHfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but the bus drivers should be screened better. Background checks are very important. If they go electric they would save money on fuel costs.

 @8HWQNFJfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

 @9D2W7FGfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9CXQ8MZfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Not unless it's for protection from criminals on said public transportation. No one I know use it because it's so unsafe!

 @9C4N53Jfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

No, we have a good system right now. Taking inspiration from asian cultures is where we should look towards

 @9BRFK3Jfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

 @95N68GPfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

spend more on making the area walkable and bike-able. less car centric design.

 @8ZYPVGNfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y
