@4Y8XQ854yrs4Y
Should be a 10 dollar flat fee for all hospital visits
@3QWVVTB4yrs4Y
More, and doctors should not be penalized or stripped of their licences for looking at alternative therapies for patients
@9HXZTXM1yr1Y
There can be both private and public however the public healthcare system needs to change therefore need for more funding
@B4F6KS22wks2W
Reform current broken system and have access to both options while allocating better funding to the public healthcare system
@B4DVMCW2wks2W
Should be balanced out basic coverage is great for the basics. Though people should have the option to private care if they so choose.
@B4D89GW2wks2W
Less, and the Doctor lobby groups need to be more accepting of international training recognition and an expansion of nurse practitioners
@B4B4XQX3wks3W
Private healthcare is not healthcare. A profit motive is impossible to reconcile with helping anyone.
@B46ZX933wks3W
Allow privatization for people who want to pay for faster service. Freeing up time for everyone else in the public system
@B469KFL3wks3W
Less. Improve current healthcare and improve admission criteria for Canadian born citizens to attend medical school. (i.e., less foreign students in our medical schools).
@B3YNZSVConservative1mo1MO
Dont restrict private healthcare service and dont punish healthcare workers for working in private health care, Eliminate waste of tax dollars and cut funding where possible (only where funding is being wasted). Then lower taxes.
@B3JVWRC1mo1MO
There should be no privatization of the healthcare industry, everyone should be able to get the best healthcare possible no matter what. Heathcare should have much more funding that it does now.
@B3H825K2mos2MO
I think healthcare should be free and available to the public. That being said I still wouldn't want hospitals being overcrowded and having super long wait times to be treated.
@B3GB2Y82mos2MO
There should be better interoperability and collaboration between private and public health services
@B3G9GWQ2mos2MO
A mix of private for those who want/can have it and keep free Healthcare for those who can't afford private
@B3G3R7S2mos2MO
Natural medicine professionals are considered private and a huge part of health and wellness. Government should recognize the need for these professionals in our current healthcare system.
@B3FXRJT2mos2MO
I think there should be an option, that if you can afford it you can choose to use private healthcare providers... but this should not effect the funding going into public healthcare, and rates of pay should be similar for all employees wither they work private or public.
@B3FQZNN2mos2MO
People should be able to get services faster if they are willing to pay for it. But not at the expense of free health care services.
@B3BPVDW2mos2MO
We should have access to both and be able to have the choice if we want to/ are able to spend money for private healthcare
@B3BHMYQ2mos2MO
Combination of private and non-private hospitals and health care. Doctors, nurses and other health care professionals have to do a certain number of hours/days in government funded hospitals/healthcare facilities
@B2TTY5S2mos2MO
More, government should fund the bare minimum. People should be able to purchase better services and care.
@B2TQD2KConservative2mos2MO
I would say move towards more because of the losers that abuse the system and are constantly at the hosptial for drugs issues or even use them for a ride.
@B2JM8JB3mos3MO
Give people the opportunity for both if they can afford it without decreasing funding for public health for those who need it
@B2JHGGF3mos3MO
Add more government funding for those less fortunate and give those with money the opportunity to be seen faster if they want
The way it is right now is good, but we need more people working in health care, and if people wanna go to private health care they can
@9YXKBJF5mos5MO
We want free health care. But i’m tired of doctors pushing me out the door to get the next patient. Also tired of every doctor thinking everyone wants drugs. We want to not be broken and need to be told how to fix our selves
@9YDSY4H5mos5MO
Provide more government funding and introduce incentive's to Canadians to encourage more to become health care professionals. More specifically, we need more doctors.
@9XCL7LD6mos6MO
Even though a free healthcare system is great, it is far to overcrowded now and doesn't work. It's like the government is just wasting all of the money somehow. There should be less privatization of these services, however more money should be spent on new hospitals that accept cash in exchange for faster service.
@9WPFJ7W6mos6MO
No Private Healthcare. We need well funded healthcare, and incentives to train Canadian healthcare professionals, such as 10-year Contract Refunded tuition for Dr. of Med. if the Healthcare worker practises in Canada for 10 years after licensing. No privatization.
@9VWD32S6mos6MO
Like in some successful European countries, we need to enhance the quality of care in the public system, while allowing additional private health care options
I don't really care about the privacy state of the healthcare system, as long as everyone gets treatment and there us no gatekeeping or anything preventing certain medicines from being accessed.
@9TWK4RLConservative7mos7MO
I feel that there should be government funding, but the option to have privatized healthcare as well.
@9T9T4BJ7mos7MO
More, but with an expectation for private healthcare workers to give some time back to the public system
@9RXB7NG8mos8MO
Two-tier system, with free public and optional private insurance for citizens and permanent residents. Recent immigrants must have mandatory health insurance unless they cannot afford it or require it to be subsidized
@9QS5ZBQ9mos9MO
I think this a tricky question because if we give healthcare workers a private funded job that pays them more, all health care workers will want to go private. This can cause issues of the less educated or worse workers providing for the general public who can't pay for private healthcare.
@9QQFWWG10mos10MO
I believe that there should be a good mix of both public and private methods in the healthcare industry.
@9P6ZSRS10mos10MO
Ideally less, but that can only happen if the government does a MUCH better job running hospitals efficiently. ie less bureaucracy
@9MV3T7BNew Democratic11mos11MO
There are pros and cons to privatization of hospital and healthcare services. While it allows for efficiency and innovation through privatization and improves quality of care, it is difficult to implement cost control and public accountability. I believe there should be a balance by having regulated private participation or public-private partnerships.
More privatization, but not at the expense of the public healthcare system, which should receive greater funding.
@9F5FC8S 2yrs2Y
A combination of private and subsidized needs to exist in order to support both positive outcomes and true accessibility.
@9F2MK7G2yrs2Y
@9DHRMNZ2yrs2Y
I think that people who are dying/in a rush to access medical/healthcare should have the option to receive privatized healthcare services, but not for privatization should be the norm.
@9D533P72yrs2Y
More, but the government should continue to invest in public healthcare, so that privatization can reduce the current load on the system
@8F2KYGZ5yrs5Y
Yes, implement a two-tier system to reduce wait times and increase quality
@B2VWCWJ2mos2MO
Yes, however, I feel that privatization has its benefits but would hurt the public sector and there would require capping the amount for service.
@B2RY5RP2mos2MO
Government should fund public health care and reduce private healthcare. Bring more incentives to young people to become doctors
@B2R667BConservative2mos2MO
Give us the option for private healthcare, keep public healthcare around and add incentives to work in the public sector.
@B2GG52P3mos3MO
We should increase privatization to complement the public system by adding new revenue streams in excess capacity of our current public funded systems.
@B2DCL7H3mos3MO
Less. The system is a mess right now and there are not enough doctors. New medical students need to be incentiviced with grants and tax breaks to start their own public clinics.
Until there is not a shortage, and the majority of Canadians actually HAVE a doctor, privatization goes against the very fundamentals of being a Canadian and helping our actual, literal neighbours.
@B2BQTV63mos3MO
We should have universal health care but everyone should be able to use it. Right now there are to many people who cant access health care through a family doctor.
@9ZCXDZS5mos5MO
More, and increase scope of practice for practitioners in private sector (naturopathic doctors, physiotherapists osteopaths, etc.) More options like MedCan
@9VRK5736mos6MO
Allow for both private and public health services. Have full public funding for top of the line medical equipment availability in public hospitals.
@9T6MWLTConservative7mos7MO
There should always be a a privatized sector in health care, privatized sector will bring out new tech, new medicine. However it should never replace general health care system there is a lot of people in US struggling between different types of health care system.
More spending if effective. Some privatization similar to the Netherlands or Japan. Not an American model. Just make it work without being unaffordable.
@9R2RSCD9mos9MO
Hybrid - Privatize with regulations such as salary caps and drug charge limits, keep public healthcare as an open option
more however that is for severe and complicated cases where it allows a patient who doesn't get attention fast enough to be treated however, the price should not be ridiculously high and should be out to the common public as well. If we can fix the issue of our healthcare system being short staffed and we have more resources, I dont think there is any need more private healthcare. There should be a system in place where the government can compensate specific people so the people who have a hard time paying for it can pay for it.
@9ML8M3H11mos11MO
I think private health care should be available to those who wish to pay, but people who can't afford to pay, should still have access to quality healthcare
@9LP9JDH12mos12MO
Both, if there are people that can afford it, this is allow people who aren't able to afford it to wait less as well.
@9LMT648Conservative12mos12MO
The system should reflect Quebec's decision in Chaoulli v Quebec where patients should have the right to seek timely care and use private insurance if their lives depend on it - otherwise the public system should prevail
@luca.a21 1yr1Y
There should be a balance between the two, allowing people who can afford private healthcare the option. Pay should fluctuate so doctors do not flood to private healthcare
@9L6B6WF1yr1Y
Less just break up patents allow for open all drugs to be open patents and provide free information on legal natural alternatives, and crowd funded 3d printed drugs
@9L4FXRZ1yr1Y
There should be an even distribution so people get both benefits and more people can recieve medical treatment
@9KW57GR1yr1Y
There should be a balance, if the government is able to hold a control over the expenses in private hospitals privatization is good as Canada is going through crisis like lack of hospital staffs and long wait periods.
@9K8VF8D1yr1Y
Both answers have pros and cons, more would hopefully mean higher quality healthcare, but less makes it more accessible.
@9K6HR9K1yr1Y
We shouldn't live in a capitalist or corporatist society, but to be fair, healthcare should be free and relied on the local economy of our society.
I think that there should be options for both because the public healthcare system can be very time-consuming
@9JC6BKV1yr1Y
The system is fundamentally flawed; the issue isn't with the privatization, it's with the educational, training, licensing, infrastructure, insurance and overall systemic bloat present in the entire industry, stemming back to it's source: the US. The best we can do is probably to create a nationalized database and reduce the inter-systemic friction between different offices and start trending overall health and taxing services that result in increased health costs accordingly, and offer subsidies to citizens who are active and take care of themselves.
@9JBXLXS1yr1Y
There should be a two tier system. One for those who can’t afford it who can get it free, and those who can afford it can pay. It would reduce wait times by half.
@9HX3NHZ1yr1Y
There should simultaneously be an increase in government subsidies and support for life saving and preventative treatment, while incentivizing doctor's to stay with private opportunities.
I think that there should be both options. There was some circumstances that makes the patient more comfortable.
@9HPNZ8L1yr1Y
I think there is space for privatization in certain areas of healthcare but external auditors are needed to ensure that hospitals are not taking advantage and these audited reports should be available to the general public
@9HN5DCR1yr1Y
We should have a split system and enforce that a certain number of years must be spent in the public sector before going into the private sector.
@9HHC8RDConservative1yr1Y
If we lowered taxes by 50% and people got to keep their money, I would say privatize it. But if the government is going to continue to keep the high tax rates AND make us pay for healthcare out of pocket, then no.
@9HCSTN21yr1Y
Less, and introduce capitation fees as well as transparency of pricing for perscription and hospital bills.
@9H4B72J1yr1Y
They should focus on making it faster. It’s already free but what’s the use of it being free if it takes 6 months for one appointment.
@9GPVK6G1yr1Y
More privatization but ensure it is standardized that way those who can pay can get off wait lists to serve those who can't pay quicker
@9GL3GM81yr1Y
Government should have strong health care for all but if you want to seek a different doctor go for it
@9GGS5K51yr1Y
depends on if they are a close family member, and the patient should be asked who they don't want knowing about them.
@9GF7LP21yr1Y
I like what they are doing right now but I do think they should take patients more seriously and get them they help they think they need.
@9G8ZNRK1yr1Y
for me it's an intermediate posture for example it's important to have privatization so the people who have success can go and check their self with a private doctor but then if it gets more and more the majority of doctors are going to choose to work at private and that would be a huge problem in the public services and not all the people can allow to a private doctor.
@9FPTTWP2yrs2Y
I think it depends on how comfortable you are in a hospital setting, Also how sick or hurt you are, and if you risk giving/someone a disease with a compormized immume system
Privitization of healthcare could potentially cut down on wait times for healthcare but it should remain affordable. Privitazation of healthcare should not be able to get such egregious prices as the United States where a single ambulance ride could finacially cripple a family.
@9FKQQC92yrs2Y
I think it should be 50-50
@9FHGJSD2yrs2Y
Add more subsidies for low income people to purchase private insurance.
more but it should not affect the ones that are can not afford it
@9FG8P6G2yrs2Y
Depends on how serious the health issue is.
@9FFJC452yrs2Y
Privatization should only be increased for healthcare that is not necessary like cosmetic plastic surgery.
@9F9RHJW2yrs2Y
Create a good balence between privatized and public health care to reduce load on public health care.
More privatization for those willing to indulge, while still maintaining and supporting the public system
@9F2MK7G2yrs2Y
Only less bureaucracy and red tape
@B399BKDConservative2mos2MO
Provide more diverse options for government funded Healthcare or lower taxes and privatize completely
I think there should be private for people who can afford it but still government funding for those who can (like private and public education)
@B36KDNW2mos2MO
More, but it needs to also help find the public sector. And all private doctors should have to work on the public side as well
@B364M342mos2MO
More privatization, as long as the cost isn't too high but reasonable, quality care must not be compromised (oversight by the government).
There should be an option for private healthcare but keep free healthcare
@9BWTSBT2yrs2Y
Less and increase accountability for efficient use of tax revenue to the health care industry (other countries are giving better health care and cost less per citizen).
@9BJHZHT2yrs2Y
Healthcare workers should be paid more
