If a person is a hard worker and can do their job like or even better than everyone else have them on board, gender shouldn't be the reason you hire someone

 @8MS74JBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, I think the most qualified should hold that position whether male, female, non-binary, etc. But I think the government should do more to encourage diversity in gender and race in the workplace.

 @8VMZSPXConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SWGJ5Kfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

yes. But they shouldn't hire people because they are women. they should hire women, because they are good at what they.

 @8SYPXJXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but when discrimination really happen in an organization, government should protect victims.

 @8DPLVSKfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

Gender doesn't matter, if the team is all men, then that's fine, and if its all women, that's fine aswell

 @B45VNJVfrom Ontario  answered…3wks3W

An effort should be made to seek out possible female candidates in the scope of the board member search.

 @B3QNMWTfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

Forcing the issue doesn't seem right to me but to say there are no women eligible for the positions seems unlikely. Women should just naturally be on boards due to experience.

 @B244VCMfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

It shouldn't be a requirement, however, the person with the most qualifications should be the one to be hired. Gender religion Creed any of that should not be taken into account ever

 @9LX8MD9from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

No, it creates a scenario where a business could be punished for unsuccessfully securing board members or challenge existing board members based on minimum requirements. The requirement should be placed on transparency for board member selection so fairness of the process can be scrutinized.

 @9K6HR9Kfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but i dont like capitalism or corporatism, if i had it my way, rich folks and all higher classes will be slaughtered off while there is no memory tracing of them, their family around them should be involved, at least deportation can be an option.

 @9HW52K8from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Women should not be permitted in the workforce at all, with the exception of combat roles or sex work.

 @9G7L7GFfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and no, If they are the best person for that position than yes absolutely, if they are not good at that position, then no

 @9G7D2DBfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

no, board members should be those most qualified and the government should not require diversity within private companies

 @9G3VTF4from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Personally, it does not matter to me who is in these board of directors, as long as they are doing there jobs with out bias, even thought that is impossible.. So, if having woman in these position makes it more far as a whole for every one than I see only positives.

 @9FFDPCRLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

If they’re qualified, yes. In a political sense, I believe workers should be seen for their skills and abilities, rather then their gender. Their gender doesn’t interfere with how skilled they are as a person.

 @9FD8NVYfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9FX7N8FNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel that each business should hire the people best suited for the position. To place a woman on the board of directors simply because of her gender and not her merit is silly.

 @8SRVSJTfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

They shouldn't be required but should get additional tax breaks for having a diverse board.

 @8N73CV9from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

They shouldn’t be required but they should have an equal chance to be put on

 @8TVTW9XPeople’sfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

If she's not crazy and way too self obsessed sure, but she really needs to know how to be calm in heated discussion. Please

 @9CLJFYRfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

People should be chosen based on their qualifications, not based on their gender. However, businesses could be encouraged to treat men and women equally.

 @9BM5965from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @96LZ6W7New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, it should be based on qualifications, but more should be done to disolve boundries for minorites and impower them in the workplace

 @96D8MBBConservativefrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

If a woman wants to be on a board of director let her. If a woman does not does not bother me.

 @965XVJLfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only for businesses where representation would be good, such as health care.

 @9566Y5Pfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

while this shouldnt be mandated their should be an effort to diversify companies as boards and high positions in companies are often made innacessable to minorities and women because higher ups will appoint people more similar to them

 @93W8ZTGfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

yes diversity is important however qualifications should also be considered

 @93MLQGTfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, the government should never require the diversity of private businesses

Equal opportunity. Not equal outcome. Equal outcome is the individual's responsibility.

 @9389F5Vfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but the women should be qualified for the position and not just given the position based on sex

 @9362PYJfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I want to say yes but I also realize that there may not be enough women in all areas of business with the experience that would put them into these positions. The government should require more diversity in the workplace. If there is truly not enough female potential for those seats, there should be a mentoring system in place to ensure there will be multiple female candidates in the near future.

 @925S7CCfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

women should not be refused jobs because they are women, but they should not get jobs just because they are women

 @8ZVGYLSfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZHGL4Bfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZC5J9Rfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and women should have access to the same resources that help men become qualified for those positions

 @8Z47MQGfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

while i’d like to say yes, that’s not exactly being equal either bc if a man of higher qualifications has to be turned down bc the company doesn’t have enough women on their staff that isn’t being very fair but everyone should be equal in jobs

 @8YYK6BWfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I can only answer this by saying there needs to be equal and fair hiring practices for all.

 @8YYH9TTfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XZYC7Yfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I would like more women on board of director positions, they are our equals after all and just saying that it goes to the most qualified isn't satisfactory given that women can be just as capable as men on average . However I'm against this because I don't want the state being in control of who is and isn't successful

 @8XZC2RVfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I'm all for diversity but this isn't the way we should do it. Having the government control who is on the board of directors could allow abuse in the future especially given how easily this government gives into cancel culture

 @8XJHNVSfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Definitely be more diverse with women in the workplace, especially women of colour

 @8XCQX2Cfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

They should only hire the most qualifies person for the job, but they should not discriminate someones qualification based on gender.

 @8W9L77Jfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

It shouldnt be a requirement, I think it should be whomever is right and best fit for the job. Hiring a female shouldn't be a mandatory choice, sometimes a male may have better experience with the job so why would you hire someone not as good? Same goes for the other way around.

 @8VKN3MJfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VJVC82from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VH8P8Jfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Their gender should not be what is the deciding factor, it should be those who deserve and are most qualified for the position.

 @8VGT9T9from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VCK54Rfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No but there should be a way to ensure that the most qualified persons are on the board as men are often given a better chance

 @8VC3CCYfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but let’s ensure all board members are there cause they are qualified, not because of there race, gender, etc…

 @8VBHT5Pfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VB4XMGfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, though I don't believe that this should be taken at a federal level since societal standards and other means of dealing with the lack of women in power are available.

 @8V772GPNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No for small businesses, yes for large businesses. It's a ridiculous requirement when the board of directors for a small business may only be two people.

 @8V6RSWCfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, this would not lead to femme liberation and it would not stop companies from selecting women that uphold the patriarchy.

 @8V5N92GNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Women should have equal opportunity to get there but the most qualified should get it

 @8V4ZZL2from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes and no. Large corporations need both sides for input but it should be the most qualified men woman etc.

 @8V2N3DXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

If a business grows large enough, the female to male ratio on the board should be proportionate to the ratio of female to males that work for the company

 @8TYY4JFfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

People should not be in a high position or on the board because of gender, sexual preference or nationality. They should be there because they're the best for the job!

 @8TX333Dfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

There should be no business or board of directors, only worker co-operatives with workplace democracy

 @8TWYKQ3from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but diversity on board of directors (gender, ethnicity, etc) is important.

 @8TW4MD4from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

There should be laws requiring ab overall gender balance regardless of majority gender

 @8TJ5LNTfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

It should not be a legal requirement, but one would hope that companies would do so because they want a varied perspective and because they know women have a lot to contribute

  @8TFVW57New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but through an incentive program, especially for all federally and provincially regulated companies, institutions and organizations, including all organizations that receive government funding or grants.

 @8T452LXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

if a woman has worked her way to being there, then she deserves to be there, there should be no required to have this or that.

 @8SLYPHZfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Private businesses should regulate themselves when it comes to personnel, but there should be further promotion by the government when it comes to including all sexes in influential positions.

Assess prejudices in larger companies, and public ones and work on correcting them. The percentage shouldn't be fully fixed. It's just a guideline.

 @8RJYVPFfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R3PCHPNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that workplaces should be more diverse as long as those individuals have the skills for that job

 @8QTW592New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I think they are supposed to treat everyone equally. We can't make it a requirement to heir women if they aren't qualified it's be the same the other way around however I would question them if they had none on their board

 @8QMNNXJfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8QHXBGNfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No. However, hiring practices should be re-evaluated as to reduce biases towards hiring against minorities.

 @8Q9MT3Ffrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Board members should be the most qualified, regardless of gender and the government should never require diversity.

 @8PYQT8Qfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

It should be encouraged with incentives; however, making it mandatory takes too much control.

 @8PS9QM5from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

It depends on the level of opportunity for men versus women, as well as the size of the corporation.

 @8PN7HVXGreenfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, however, there should not be a quota. The hiring process for board members should not take gender into account.

 @tofutofufrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Diversity, and specifically representation, is very important. At the same time, being qualified for a role is also extremely important. Diversity shouldn't be a priority over being qualified. You should not disqualify fully qualifying people from a role simply because they AREN'T women, for example- I think that in itself is discrimination. But, it's important that women and minorities that are qualified get equal opportunities and are being equally represented in the work force and that they feel as though they have a voice and value at their workplace, the the same opportunities for advancement as anyone else.

 @8KXVRNMfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y
