Yes, but they should stop whining and just work. The work will give them self satisfaction and possible reward. You're the one who needed a job, be grateful.

 @B35PD2Qfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

yes. Also if the government has to pass legislation putting workers back to work a separate "essential service" category should be added to the current "essential services".

 @B2H2BPLfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes. The working class holds its power in labour. Though, unions were designed to combat the profit motive - such motive doesn’t exist in the public sector. It’s a tricky issue. I don’t disagree with the idea of replacing striking workers in low skilled jobs even in the private sector, the power of labour doesn’t not come through legislation, it comes from labour, skill and the value thereof. Everyone has the right to strike, everyone should earn a fair, living wage. At the same time, services need to be rendered and labour needs to be provide value. This is where privatization comes in, government regulates, pays but should not own a dump truck. It’s hard to hold people accountable when the buck stops with no one in the chain of, I mean to say, no one has their money on the line.

 @9QZCYDNfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, but only for non-essential services. In addition, there needs to be more requirements to strike because people are striking over the tiniest things.

 @9QQF694from Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

it depends, which sector are we discussing - those who are considered to be essentials - for example, doctors, nurses etc. if they go on strike - that puts too much as risk. While they have protect their work rights and environment - the government should have a policy that may take care of them so they do not consider going on strike

no government should have a union we should have a group of people that hold them accountable and fire them without pension when rules and laws are broken

Yes, but only for non-essential services. Also, the services that are considered essential and non-essential need to be better defined so the system is not exploited.

 @GizemNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, people should fullfill their needs about their work area, wage and rights

Yes, Government workers should be allowed to strike but must be peaceful and cause no harm to objects or people.

 @8QMCDSXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Are they protected by union agreements? If so, then it is a right. It depends on the issues...if it is to bring awareness and justice to wrong doing, then yes. If it is for wage increases then no, they already make substantially excellent wages. Greed serves no one!

 @8PNRMDNfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, make them essential workers so that the contract will be decided by an independent arbitrator.

 @8PBZMK8from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but essential services should be striking on a rotating basis and strikes should not be permitted during school year. Also, if a university strikes, students should get a pro-rated refund

 @8PB7P2Xfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if it's about that which has been empirically, and inductively or deductively assessed reasonably, accounting for all relevant factors and does not contradict itself, and caters to most people's needs and desires.

 @8P9CY8Qfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if the government branch permits it, and it is not deemed an essential service.

 @8P4P98Sfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, anyone should be allowed to strike if they feel bad about something they don't agree with.

 @8P3F3JTfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Everyone in the government gets replaced by someone who is happy to do it for less, many goverment jobs phased out as no longer needed due to ubi , online automated services that replace service centers, goverment offices no longer needed, counsellors no longer needed as citizens can vote on all issues via an online vote/survey, goverment simply fullfills the wishes of the people

Hours should be limited for essential workers if they are striking but it depends on the reason. For instance if it is due to a health and safety issue all of them should be able to strike, but if it is due to things such as a pay increase limited hours and restrictions on overtime seem more appropriate.

 @98HT6QDfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, like any other unionized worker. Military should also have a union. The are considered essential but they can strike in different ways like not following dress regulations or only operational objectives support only any other work can be refused.

No. Government workers already get so much more than most and many don't work as hard as "regular" people.

 @8PYXCGLfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TCG9Q4from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only for non-essential services; government workers like soldiers should have another way of expressing displeasure that does not place the country in danger

 @8DC736Tfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, I'd go further as to say we should allow them to strike and any type of workers should be allowed to strike. But I do support Labour Courts, but not to stop them, but as a "Labour Oversight Board" Which I believe anyone 18 years of age or older should be required to serve on at least for 4 years, renewability unlimited, as soon as you turn 18 you'd be mandated to register for a position based off of courses taken in High School and taking in post-secondary, if you are in post-secondary.
