The working class holds its power in labour. Though, unions were designed to combat the profit motive - such motive doesn’t exist in the public sector. It’s a tricky issue. I don’t disagree with the idea of replacing striking workers in low skilled jobs even in the private sector, the power of labour doesn’t not come through legislation, it comes from labour, skill and the value thereof. Everyone has the right to strike, everyone should earn a fair, living wage. At the same time, services need to be rendered and labour needs to be provide value. This is where privatization comes in, government regulates, pays but should not own a dump truck. It’s hard to hold people accountable when the buck stops with no one in the chain of, I mean to say, no one has their money on the line.
