President Obama recently declared that the U.S. will accept 10,000 refugees from Syria. The U.S. has been under pressure from its Syrian allies to help out with the crisis in which 3 Million refugees have fled Syria in the past year. Those in favor of accepting refugees believe that the U.S. has a duty to join its allies in Europe and accept at least 10,000 refugees. Opponents argue that the U.S. should stay out of this crisis and accepting refugees from the Middle East leads to a risk of letting terrorists into our borders.

@8HN985N4yrs4Y
yes, accept all,then return them to Syria when safe
Canada should accept refugees from Syria if they benefit to their country in some way. Canada will not be diverse enough if all Syrians are let in.
@962LKT43yrs3Y
When Canada is able to house and support all current citizens
@95WDL7W3yrs3Y
We should focus on Canadians first before accepting more people. The middle class is suffering and many of us cannot afford to rent or let alone buy a home. Grocery, phone costs, gas, ICBC insurance rates are suffocating.
@95QRN2B3yrs3Y
no because the government is giving them houses instead of the canadians that were originally struggling.
@958MNJX3yrs3Y
Background check the refugees
@94VP9NS3yrs3Y
Yes, but only after extensive background checks and continuous monitoring for the first month, then sporadic monitoring (maybe once a month, check in on them) for 2 years.
Increase spending to help more local areas support refugees thereby helping many more people
@93VFHQZ3yrs3Y
As of now...Muslim folks should be back ground checked before entering Canada.
@93QGJ9X3yrs3Y
I believe we should keep them in their home countries. Set up safe communities for them with free education, health care, etc. Clean water and plenty of food. Teach them how to fight and leave them to fight the terrorists themselves. Help them push back Isis and reclaim their land
@93KRLRB3yrs3Y
Refugees from Syria should come into canada the same way immigrants come into canada
@9393LCW3yrs3Y
Yes, but heavy amount of background check should be involved. Not just Syrian refugees but with everyone.
@92VHL4P3yrs3Y
Yes but with better programs and support systems that don’t take away from Canadians
@92SBLVXConservative3yrs3Y
Canada must join the world in doing away with the rulers in Syria that cause the conditions that force refugees to flee. We can not solve all the worlds problems by having the entire population of such countries move here.
@92L9KW7New Democratic3yrs3Y
Yes, but we need to limit how many are coming
@923VLB33yrs3Y
Yes, but with some basic background checks and minor amounts of monitoring if they are suspected of terrorist connections
@8XMTVYD3yrs3Y
We should only bring in people that will accept Canadian values, learn the language, and agree to work.
@8W667TT4yrs4Y
I do agree with accepting families but there should be a sort of limit of accepting people from syria.
@8W65T454yrs4Y
They should be treated the same as any other immigrant.
@8W4QJ7Y4yrs4Y
They should be accepted providing that they will help build society
@8VWXDZS4yrs4Y
Yes but use careful and diligent background checking. Strict rules must apply.
@8VVYZ7K4yrs4Y
As long as canada is thorough in making sure that they know and follow the rules
@8VVRDLZ4yrs4Y
Yes but only if there are jobs available
@8VVNSYLNew Democratic4yrs4Y
yes, but only for people who were desperate to live. Provided that they will have equal rights with a temporary worker in this country.
@8VVNJZJ4yrs4Y
Yes, but not have any set amount. It should not be a set number. Add them to the pool of others seeking entry to Canada.
@8VVB4W84yrs4Y
If they can back flip yes
@8VTSVRY4yrs4Y
Yes, we should, but I feel they don't need to come into Vancouver's most expensive place to live. Why can they not go to Alberta or Saskatchewan or even up north of BC?
@8VSDKLT4yrs4Y
No refugees until Canada is healed.
@8VRC25N4yrs4Y
I think that we should except some but not all
@8VQ4YLX4yrs4Y
depends on the situations
@8VNSBGD4yrs4Y
We can't keep adding more but i understand it is the humane thing to do as well.
@8VLSBVR4yrs4Y
Feel we should put resources towards local issues such as affordability, medical and health facilities
@8VLRYJR4yrs4Y
Yes, I believe we should help others but we also need to address the housing and food crisis for people in our own country.
@8VKT5KY4yrs4Y
Follow Australia's lead for immigration.
@8VHM4PKNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Again, with support and interaction, get to know the people moving into our country.
@8VHL9LS4yrs4Y
Yes, But then with a background check to determine if they can stay.
@8VH2T4R4yrs4Y
Focusing on our struggling Canadian Families is more important.
@8VGXXML4yrs4Y
Accept families and provide adequate supports to help them adjust to life in Canada (e.g., connection to employment/educational opportunities, free English lessons)
@8VGKC244yrs4Y
I like the idea of us helping people in dire circumstances, but I HEAVILY Dislike the fact that we feel they are more provided for than people and families BORN in Canada, we should be accepting less than we do.
@8VFCQBF4yrs4Y
Yes but not too many at once. Has to evaluate each refugee’s circumstances and allow them to slowly integrate into Canada society
@8VF4KSF4yrs4Y
skilled, educated and there fore given employment in canada and not enabled to sit on welfare system
@8VCHDB24yrs4Y
No, we should help the people in our own country first.
@8VCFZPZ4yrs4Y
Yes, only educated and trades trained individuals.
@8VBY7CMConservative4yrs4Y
Accept a limited number and do extensive background checks
@8V8K7PH4yrs4Y
Good people who immigrated legally and have something to offer should be allowed
@8V7LS654yrs4Y
Helping many in the world, is humanitarian, but forgetting Canadians who were born here and ignoring us is not fair or the answer... Much discussion on this needed
@8V7KWDT4yrs4Y
Yes, but only if they are not going to be an economic drain (on public welfare programs)
@8V5QNNN4yrs4Y
@8V5LQXB4yrs4Y
Yes. But they need to abide by Canadian rules, become citizens with extensive routes. Contribute to society. Not able to collect welfare.
@8V5JTV74yrs4Y
Yes, butnonly after we have stabilized our economy and given jobs to Canadians first
@8V4M9G44yrs4Y
Don't let in terrorists and reduce the number of immigrants, in total, without skills we are lacking in
We need to help Canadians before extending help to other countries
@8V25FH94yrs4Y
Yes, but deal with Canada’s homeless as well
@8TY2YD24yrs4Y
Yes we should should accept much more than the proposed 1000 refugees but only after extensive background checks and continuous monitoring to ensure that they have no terrorist connections
@8TXVXML4yrs4Y
Only if someone/group will privately sponsor them.
@8TW2QG24yrs4Y
Only families who have gone through extensive background checks and only if there is housing and jobs available.
@8TVBPLK4yrs4Y
Yes, we should accept refugees from all countries
@8TV2JLJ4yrs4Y
We have homeless and starving Canadian citizens born and raised we should worry about first.
@8TNPS7W4yrs4Y
should really look into improving lives of Canadians first and not stick to some random number of refugees to accept just to feel good
@8TMKPJQ4yrs4Y
Only Families and Sexual minorities,screening should be done without prejudice or cruelty but accuracy is important,we shouldnt accept anybody or too many people.
@8TB77YJ4yrs4Y
Yes but there’s so many of them so less
@8T8XK5Q4yrs4Y
Yes, and accept families, and have thorough background checks on individuals coming into the country solo.
@8SQFX674yrs4Y
Yes, as long as it is safe and affordable for born Canadians
@8SPP4SJConservative4yrs4Y
yes, but we should accept fewer than 10,00
@8S2L8DJ4yrs4Y
yes, but they can only live in Toronto
@8RRHV8S4yrs4Y
No, they should be helping our veterans who served for our country but hardly get anything for their service
@8RKHWHL4yrs4Y
No, there are too many immigrants in the county already
@8QXJ2WY4yrs4Y
Only those with decent education.
@8QX373R4yrs4Y
i think we should have a certain amount of people per time period
@8QVG6XN4yrs4Y
We should accept them and help them to fight for their country by enlisting the men and willing women into the military service.
@8QQFY3G4yrs4Y
Yes but have background checks before
@8QN8KG44yrs4Y
If we just continue to let everyone into our home whenever they want to come over it is no longer a home, it becomes a drop in center. I know these people don't just want to come over such as the average house guest but that they are actually fleeing from their homes. I like that we help people but I feel that sometimes it comes at an expense we cannot afford. There is a reason for walls and boundaries. I support helping others but I do not see many of these refugees in the homeless shelters in the major cities here in western Canada. I also do not see many of them using the free food lines in major urban centers in western Canada. It makes me wonder if these refugees get more support financially from the Canadian government than the Canadian citizens who are in the most need living at or below the poverty line?
@8QMTD7X4yrs4Y
Safely house and feed non military aged refugees and train military aged refugees to obtain their country back
@8QK74GZ4yrs4Y
Yes, but if we get penalized for having them here, no.
@8QC7GPH4yrs4Y
Send the obnoxious communist Chinese back to their country as they are taking over Canada, and accept any Syrian refugees.
@8PPB8Q74yrs4Y
Only if they are able to contribute to the workforce positivly
@8PNCCBW4yrs4Y
yes be it, we make sure their not bringing in any viruses and take the necessary Medication to make sure they won't catch anything from us.
@8PMWCZC4yrs4Y
Yes, but after extensive background checks. They should also be assimilated into canadian culture somewhat
@8PLSVCT4yrs4Y
Only if they are able to contribute to the workforce
@8PFDTKFConservative4yrs4Y
I don't believe it should be completely banned, rather heavily restricted
@8P9TNPBConservative4yrs4Y
After an extensive background check, and if Canada has available space and resources to accommodate the refugees
@8P6NKHGLibertarian4yrs4Y
Yes, however, prioritize families and make sure the selected location has adequate schools with enough space.
@8P3QP584yrs4Y
Not until we can afford to take care of our own people
@8NYVRSD4yrs4Y
Yes but we need to make sure that Canadian citizens can have jobs and are supported as well
@8NWB6MX4yrs4Y
We should help stabilize their home and help them rebuild.
@8NW2DWM4yrs4Y
We should eliminate any opportunity for terrorists to enter the country and stop any government income assistance funding
@8NLLSC34yrs4Y
Yes but not so many, I feel like there just be a number set in place for how many we can take in because soon it’s going to be more then we can handle and all our resources are going to run low
@Jatzuyu4yrs4Y
Yes, but only ones with absolutely no connection to any leader or bad person from their previous country.
Yes but make sure there's a great background check so one has terrorism background.
@8L28LZL4yrs4Y
No, refugees can immigrate. If they don't provide value to our economy, they shouldn't be here.
@8KNBBB94yrs4Y
Yes, as long as they can contribute and adapt to our society
@8KLY3PN4yrs4Y
Yes if they are women and children and families who have been thoroughly investigated before entering our country.
@8KKZQKR4yrs4Y
No, we should be taking care of the people we have here already. We can not afford to put more people on social services. The only people we should accept are people that will be contributing to society, educated people or skilled labor.
@8KKWWN74yrs4Y
Yes family’s struggling but have equal privileges to Canadian citizens
@8KJLNVF4yrs4Y
Need to limit refugees, regardless of race
We should dismantle the military industrial complex that leaves the global south in a state of perpetual instability in service of western profit interests.
@8KJ2KHPConservative4yrs4Y
Yes for community sponsorship only of families fleeing persecution
@8K25NPT4yrs4Y
yes but first we need to plan out. they need to have access to jobs, homes and basic facilities. also, all this after a background check.
