The fringe cases are an extreme minority yet take up most of the discourse. The reality is that we don't know when conscious life begins (scientifically) and most pro-choicers simply don't want to be held accountable for their actions.

 @9G2C5BCfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Pro-choicers are actually taking responsibility for their actions, many parents/pregnant individuals are unable to raise and care for a child. People choose to have an abortion because they know they will only make the child suffer if it is born without the resources it needs to live a proper lifestyle.

 @9G48LL3from Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think that, your body, your choice. No one should be able to tell you what you can or can’t do to your body. Everyone women should have the right to live their lives to how they feel most suitable. No one should get a say on someone else’s body.

 @9G362CLfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

technically we do know when “life” begins in the womb, but at the same time having an abortion is the better alternative for some people, for example say a very young woman got raped and couldn’t handle a child none the less be able to provide for the child you rather them have the child and let it suffer a miserable life because there “parent” was not able to get an abortion or the right ti there body? there are very many factors that go into this debate.

 @9G29NZQfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

You should be permitted to have an abortion no matter the situation, as long as it is in the time period where the baby is not yet formed.

 @9GJTG3QLiberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Abortion should be treated the same as any other medical procedure. you wouldn't criticize somebody for getting their appendix removed, because it doesn't concern you. why are people pro-life when many mothers' lives are endangered by a birth or pregnancy? In my opinion, it's an excuse to control and criticize women.

 @9GRM8JGNew Democratic from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Children born out of incest are likely to have issues which would mean more stress on the child and more stress on the mother. If a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, not allowing her the right to choose is essentially forcing her to have a child that will remind her of a very traumatic experience. Health risks are a huge concern in many pregnancies, and in some cases having a baby could be fatal for some women and if you are actually pro-life than you should value the life of someone who has actually lived.

 @9GTKJ4Sfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

A human being should be able to choose what they do with their body, and what their body goes through. If a women gets pregnant but is to young to support them, does not have enough money to support them, or just DOES NOT WANT TO HAVE A BABY then they should have the option to not go through with the pregnancy. Just because some people disagree with abortion does not mean that is should be illegal. It should be an option. Everyone should be able to choose how their life goes, for some that does not involve having a child, or giving birth to one. No matter what the circumstance a person should be able to make their own decisions about their body.

 @9GXV9V3from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Not all dangers to the mother or child are clean cut answers, sometimes it is not completely physical harm that people are avoiding it is mental harm that they can cause to themselves or to the child. Teen pregnancies are increasing and plenty of those teens are not able to care for that child causing mental problems on themselves and to the child if they have them. However, this is not always the case but only the women is able to correctly identify if they are able to create a positive and healthy life for a child.

 @9GGTW3Jfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Abortion should be allowed regardless of purpose because some people can't afford to support and home a child.

 @9GGTB5Kfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

i think they should have a choice either way even if it isnt in the case of any of those, if shes just not ready for a kid she is allowed to get an abortion

 @9GGTHHDPeople’sfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

It is the mothers decision, ultimately it should be their choice especially if it was something like this that happened.

 @9GGNRFWfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Everyone should be allowed to have an abortion, if people start saying that "Oh, only people who were raped (yada yada yada) can get an abortion" means that others can start claiming that women are like, pretending to be raped just to get an abortion which is an abuse of power and very icky.

 @9FRKYNNfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If you accidentally get pregnant, you should have the choice to reverse it. Like if one night you want to then realize what you did, then you should be able to change that.

 @9GH43N7Liberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Absolutely agree with the latter point, but we can’t forget that many women who are seeking an abortion are doing so because they are financially and socially disadvantaged. It can be more harmful to bring a baby into a situation where they are not properly cared for, fed, clothed etc.

 @B45VWTZNew Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…4wks4W

At that point then just let people make the decisions for themselves. Don’t force anything onto others.

 @B33Y7D9Liberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

Disagree it is the woman’s choice because if they aren’t ready it would only hurt the child in the future

 @B322574from Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

This requires legislators to be able to properly identify, charge, convict, or otherwise ensure that people using this medical service are "eligible" and opens up opportunities for those officials to allow or reject the medical service based on personal bias, for institutions to delay the medical service, and cannot ensure that individuals in danger are properly serviced because - for lack of better terms - this introduces too much red tape. Instead, it needs to be entirely available and in fringe cases where people abuse the medical service, they should be investigated instead.

 @B2L6JKJfrom Ontario  agreed…3mos3MO

In cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child, I believe that you should have a choice on what you want to do. I dont feel it is right for a women who is raped to be forced to birth the child if she does not choose to keep it

 @9ZJ9NQ2from Ontario  disagreed…5mos5MO

would you really want a child raising a child? would you want that kid to grow up in poverty? most people dont adopt, would you adopt that kid?

 @9LX8JZWfrom Ontario  disagreed…12mos12MO

Do you not have to consider abortion to be the murder of an innocent, to be Pro-Life? Does the fetus resulting from rape bear guilt for being conceived, and deserves then 'to be murdered'? To say "I'm Pro-Life, but..." is immediately inconsistent, hypocritical even, with the foundational logic behind being Pro-Life.

 @9LVT74SLiberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…12mos12MO

Why is it fair that only under life threatening circumstances someone is allowed to get an abortion.

 @9KB8TVNLiberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Ultimately, the decision of what a women should be able to do with their own body should be left up to them. If someone is not ready to have a child, then they should not have to.

 @9JT82G7from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

People still make mistakes, maybe they were irresponsible but that doesn’t mean they should still be taken away the right to do something of their choice to their body. The case isn’t always that they were irresponsible, there’s been many cases where these happen by accident which means that having a child wasn’t what they wanted. Even if it wasn’t rape, incest, or danger to the mother or child, its still the mothers body and it should still be here choice if she wants to keep the child or not.

 @9HXH3FWfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

The women is a victim and she should not be stuck with a child she may not want nor be able to take care of in some situations.

 @B3XK6SJfrom Ontario  disagreed…1mo1MO

Why do you only value a women’s choice when she has been raped or worse? Why does she need to suffer in order for you to respect her choice in becoming a mother or not? If under some circumstances it’s okay to abort, but not others, that turns into “he said, she said”. Your subjective opinion about what is right and wrong should not derail someone’s life, and undergoing an unwanted pregnancy would certainly derail someone’s life.

 @B3FFFVRfrom Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

It individual case is different, there is factors in people’s lives that we aren’t aware of. The mother could be in abusive situation, the family could be in a tough financial situation. Adoption and foster care can be far worse than just simply terminating the pregnancy before the fetus is even viable.

 @B37B2FV from Ontario  agreed…2mos2MO

The life of babies is important, but in the situation of rape, incest and danger to the mother or child, abortion should be an option. In rape, how could the mother ever love that child and take care of it? But, she also needs to consider that this child could grow to become someone she loves. In incest, genetic defects could occur, causing the child to suffer from various issues. Incest by choice is a grave mistake, the parents should consider taking responsibility for their actions as well. When the mother or child is in danger, both parties (mother and father) should make a decision together.

 @9HBNNW2from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

people should have the choice. Starting a family is difficult thing that not everyone can handle mentally and financially.

 @9H6CZY4from Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

I agree to a certain extent but i still believe it should be someone’s choice because it’s their life and their body

 @9FTHTQFfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I am Pro-Choice, but only until 5 weeks, after 5 weeks once the fetus develops a heart, i am pro-life. However if it is rape, incest, or a danger to people involved, then i would allow it past that 5 week mark.

 @B35LXTJfrom Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

the fact that someone would have to prove rape, incest, danger etc could be detrimental to their mental health or safety. The feeling of shame or guilt around having an abortion shouldn’t be weighed down with further potential shame of how the pregnancy happened.

 @9FNMKKPfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think that a woman should still have a right to abortion as if she isn’t in a financial situation to be able to provide the baby with a proper life than it is only endangering the baby.

 @9FSWL2Tfrom Ontario  agreed…2yrs2Y

if it isnt the mothers fault or they simply cant take care of that child at all, i think an abortion can be prescribed to them.

 @9FPS27Bfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

I think this would be better than to complete say no to abortions. Yes, it's a life but it depends on the situation of the mother and the child and how they can support the child's upbringing.

 @B3MN52G from Ontario  disagreed…1mo1MO

Bodily autonomy should apply to all pregnancies. Having to prove that you've been through a traumatic event just to receive an abortion is traumatic within itself.

 @B25VVRC from Ontario  disagreed…4mos4MO

40% of people chose to do abortion because of their financial struggles. 20% of people said they weren't physically and mentally able to handle a child. There are many factors that go on that can impact one's life. The public isn't one to decide how to solve those factors.

 @9MKCM4B from Ontario  disagreed…11mos11MO

A compelling argument against the pro-life stance that permits exceptions for situations including rape, incest, or risk to the mother or child is that it contradicts the fundamental ideas of reproductive rights and bodily autonomy. These exclusions limit women's choices and autonomy even as they recognize the seriousness of some situations. Without hindrance or condemnation, every woman ought to be able to make decisions about her own body and reproductive health. Furthermore, making exceptions leads to a precipice where a woman's decision to seek an abortion is deemed worthy depending on the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy or the perceived danger, so sustaining discrimination and stigma. Thus, upholding a pro-choice position guarantees that every woman has equal access to safe and authorized abortion.

 @9H4MYKBfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

if its allowed for that it should be allowed for any other reason, there could be many reasons why a women wants a abortion.

 @9GRC5BMPeople’sfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

accidents happen and everyone makes them. If every time you make a mistake you are forced to not fix it and live the rest of your life with it that would not make you feel very good.

 @9GQ9V7Tfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

You cannot force another person to allow another person to use thier body to stay alive. How would you like it if I was dieing and they forced you to give me a kidney because they were out of them because we'd both be alive after and that's all that matters?

 @9GNFLKKfrom Ontario  agreed…1yr1Y

A child can always be a blessing in someone's life, I believe that instead we should be fighting for the government to fund more money towards financial help for single mothers, low income families, and teen pregnancies.
As well as increase the prison sentencing for rape or incest.

 @9GN2LRQfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

It neither respects the autonomy of a woman's body nor values the life of a fetus. Essentially, it is a statement without principles.

 @9GGP6DGfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

In a country that makes it impossible to have a child whilst also being finacially stable it is perposterous to expect someone to have a child when it can derail their entire life
