In 2022, among the 113 homicides where information about the firearms was known, only 58 firearms were initially obtained legally. Among these 58 firearms, the accused was the legal owner in only 44% (24 cases) of the incidents. This is directly from stats-Can. Gun control only impacts the legal owners of firearms. I would argue that the 'dollars spent per lives saved ratio' would be higher with deterence programs, police budgets, and border security.
