Cumulative acts lead to larger actions that were inspired from smaller beginnings. By engaging in small acts to promote environmentalism within the country, it fosters a stronger sense of environmentalism for the long term as we begin to develop new ideas about the land on which we live when we care for it.

They are probably correct in the grand scheme of things but making an effort improves their local community

It's moronic when leftists blame corporations for emissions to excuse individual choices (Exxon and Amazon and Wal-Mart ain't emitting GHGs for **** s and giggles), and it's just as moronic when right-wingers pretend they don't have to do anything because they're such a small part of the problem (though I understand they don't generally understand the concept of a 'tragedy of the commons')

Doing something for the betterment of society is always better than doing nothing and giving up

They're probably right, because we're not the kind of people who can fix things. I would tell them to try contacting politicians or voting for a party that actually is trying to fix these things, or to participate in protests if that's their kind of thing. And also that just because them going green won't drastically change the environment, that doesn't mean it doesn't matter if they completely avoid doing anything.

This is fair as there is no ethical consumption under Capitalism, but it's also true that small progress is progress nonetheless. We can make individual actions and put pressure on society at the same time.

Many individuals doing small things to reduce their ecological footprint leads to a bigger impact to environmental conservation.

 @9KZK4KPNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

If everyone thought the opposite and actyally put in effort to make a change to our environment things would be very different, so change your view and others should do the same.

 @9KWW5BHNew Democraticfrom Newfoundland  answered…1yr1Y

i would say that thinking that way does not make a difference and trying to make a difference

 @9LDCQ7NNew Democratic from British Columbia  answered…12mos12MO

I agree at the moment as individual efforts only make a difference if it is political action not composting.

 @9L97PG8New Democratic from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I would agree, as individuals aren't contributing to environmental to the same degree as corporations

 @9L2SXDRfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Every little bit makes a difference. This is not just a cute colloquial saying, this is tried and true. Also I think there should be more pressures on people who have a bigger foot print (like those who use private jets often) to make more drastic changes. But the only way we will see resounding change is if everyone chips in a bit. And in the meantime, chipping in should be easier and cheaper.

I would tell them that every little thing can count. If your room is messy and you put away a pair of socks instead of cleaning an entire portion of it you still made the room slightly cleaner.

Everyone has a right to their own decision, I cannot sway a person's belief one way or another.

 @9LK2YSNfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

i wouldnt really care to much. their are billionaires like taylor swift who create carbon emissions that are equal to thousands of working class citizens. its the big companies and billionaires who we should really be puttine very very strict ecological restrictions on.

 @9LJYZBXfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

You can make a small difference but not as much as the government and corporations

 @9KY8QQMNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

I would agree with them and promote the idea that it is too little too late for us to change much with individual lifestyle changes. Instead, devote your time and energy to advocating against the biggest contributors to environmental catastrophe by far: corporations, the top 1%, and the politicians who enable them.

That every single person influences the environment in some way and that believing they aren’t involved is naive

 @9LGGXGTfrom Nova Scotia  answered…12mos12MO

I mean I kind of agree with that statement. how many times have we heard that and when that one person makes a difference it accounts to no difference. in fact climate change is only getting worse.

Well it’s better than what some people are doing because they are sitting on the butts and saying it while your doing it so I would say anything makes a difference
