i think it is both. in order to uphold a tradition there has to be everyones participation to make it possible

 @9HD4NRNfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

This should be left to individuals. The government should not be allowed to tell us what traditional values we feel we need to preserve.

 @9HP9J48 from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

It should be left to the individuals, because if the government chooses what values you have, they aren't actually your values, they are the governments

 @9HM9N66from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I believe that the government should preserve traditional values because it is important for people to know their history and to continue them so future persons can experience and study it too

 @9HGG7QCfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

The government should again be secular, but also it should work to protect national identity and culture, without pushing this to extreme right wing nationalism.

I believe a government should be involved in their nations values and traditions but it should be mainly left up to the individuals. The citizens of that country.

 @9HRW2K6from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Values change over time in accordance to the times. History shows that most values as a nation will change with economy and technology. Traditional values are only traditional if they serve a long standing purpose.

 @9HPX5S9from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Traditions are for individuals and groups of individuals, like religion it should be separate from government.

 @9HN899Vfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Museums and Galleries should be federally subsidized and free, and mandated to preserve the nation's cultural history.

 @9HN5ZG3New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I think it's up to the people to protect their traditional views rather than the government as the government handles matters and laws that affect both liberal and conservative views and one side shouldn't get most of the attention.

 @9HQ2HYZfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

A person who wants to keep up with a nation's traditional values should preserve the values themself.

When considering "Right-Wing Populism," the pivotal question arises: is it the government's responsibility to uphold a nation's traditional values, or should this role be left to individuals?

 @9HDYNFKfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

government should not interfere with any of our personal lives. Govern the country at a high level, the rest is up to us

 @9HDSKP6from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I think when the government begins to present "traditional values", it nears on a state run society.

 @9SZKVH5Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

It should be left to individuals. There is a certain merit or level of preservation, again as long as it does not lead to discrimination of minorities then it’s partly fine. However, preservation of nations traditional values is alright but each individual has their own preferences and unique understanding or views. However, on a national, provincial and federal level we must follow charter of rights and freedoms also to ensure safety and respect for everyone’s choices in areas of education; health care and economy.

 @9QQDD87from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

let people do what they want (not illegal) why are you so invested in peoples personal lives

 @9QQBMRTfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

I think it's a responsibility for the government to preserve a nation's traditional values

 @9QFM9P7 from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Leave it to individuals. Canadians are actually smart enough enough to make up their own minds believe it or not.

 @9HSPDSYfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I think that should be left to individuals but it also shouldn't be the responsibility of the government to push the opposite agenda.

 @9LMRPJBfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I think it is everyone's responsibility at the end of the day. There is only so much us individuals can do and sometimes we will need our government to back us up and help us out with our traditions.

 @9KQNB3Kfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Governments should be responsible to preserve the nations traditional values but individuals also must uphold that

 @9K6C82DLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9LM9QV9from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Shouldn't be everyone's duty to preserve a nation's traditional values regardless of political leaning?

 @9LKHV3Tfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I think it should be left to the individual as I think people should have the freedom to do what they want

 @9K72Z2Wfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9K6M454from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Left to individuals, governments can care for all they want but it's still just reactionary beliefs in the end, either way, it all depends or it just mixes.

 @9HPLKNGfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I think the government must find a middle ground or community assimilation of new people to Canada. Just as they did to many of our families generations ago. It didn't result in the loss of our heritage but gave us the respect and wanting to be whatever someone describes as "Canadian".

 @9HDWGHZfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9HD9MZVfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I believe that the government should in essence preserve the overall values that make up its constitution. However, there should be a certain balance as nations across the globe are becoming more opened and inclusive of different cultures and values that should also be respected.
