i think it is both. in order to uphold a tradition there has to be everyones participation to make it possible
@9HPFPHSNew Democratic11mos11MO
Governments and citizens must work together with an emphasis on citizen inclusion
Maintaining a country's historic values requires striking a balance between the role of the government and personal freedom. Governments support social cohesiveness, national identity, and cultural heritage preservation. They ought to respect society progress and individual liberties, nevertheless. A dynamic and inclusive society may be achieved through a cooperative approach that respects tradition while recognizing social variety and individual liberties.
@9HD4NRN12mos12MO
This should be left to individuals. The government should not be allowed to tell us what traditional values we feel we need to preserve.
@9HJST5F12mos12MO
Personal values like faith are a choice of the individual, and legal values are the responsibility of the government.
@9HP9J48 11mos11MO
It should be left to the individuals, because if the government chooses what values you have, they aren't actually your values, they are the governments
@9HM9N6611mos11MO
I believe that the government should preserve traditional values because it is important for people to know their history and to continue them so future persons can experience and study it too
@9HHJ2CH12mos12MO
Individuals. If people are not harming others, then let people live as they please. Simply put. No one is ever going to fully agree with the other persons life.
@9HGG7QC12mos12MO
The government should again be secular, but also it should work to protect national identity and culture, without pushing this to extreme right wing nationalism.
@9HM8XMH11mos11MO
I believe a government should be involved in their nations values and traditions but it should be mainly left up to the individuals. The citizens of that country.
@9HRW2K611mos11MO
Values change over time in accordance to the times. History shows that most values as a nation will change with economy and technology. Traditional values are only traditional if they serve a long standing purpose.
@9HRCL3N11mos11MO
I certainly believe that Citizens have a direct role to play with preserving a Nation’s values, and that the Government must work with them to ensure that.
@9HQ33JT11mos11MO
Unless those values are being overthrown by others, i think the government should leave it up to the individuals
@9HPX5S911mos11MO
Traditions are for individuals and groups of individuals, like religion it should be separate from government.
@9HDV9WY12mos12MO
the government should be in control of a nations traditional values depending on the location in the world for different areas have different backgrounds
@9HN899V11mos11MO
Museums and Galleries should be federally subsidized and free, and mandated to preserve the nation's cultural history.
@9HJCGKC12mos12MO
Yes, it is the government's duty to preserve a nation's traditional values.
@9HN5ZG3New Democratic11mos11MO
I think it's up to the people to protect their traditional views rather than the government as the government handles matters and laws that affect both liberal and conservative views and one side shouldn't get most of the attention.
@9LLTNGFNew Democratic7mos7MO
it should be left to everyone because we all have a responsibility
@9LMRPJB7mos7MO
There is only so much we can do sometimes the support of our government is needed to to preserve these traditions.
@9HQ2HYZ11mos11MO
A person who wants to keep up with a nation's traditional values should preserve the values themself.
@9HHNR8312mos12MO
I think that the government should still try to preserve what the country truly means, while allowing citizens to feed into keeping the countries traditions thriving.
Maintaining a nation's historic values while balancing individual autonomy and government action is a challenging topic that differs throughout cultures. Governments frequently support principles and preserve cultural heritage while allowing for individual liberties and cultural development. Government neutrality and cultural diversity provide challenges. A peaceful society requires a sophisticated approach that respects tradition while recognizing societal diversity.
@9HL5PRM 11mos11MO
to an extent, legislative ways yes but culturally no
@9HHG4RX12mos12MO
When considering "Right-Wing Populism," the pivotal question arises: is it the government's responsibility to uphold a nation's traditional values, or should this role be left to individuals?
@9HDYNFK12mos12MO
government should not interfere with any of our personal lives. Govern the country at a high level, the rest is up to us
@9HDSKP612mos12MO
I think when the government begins to present "traditional values", it nears on a state run society.
@9TF4G842mos2MO
It should be left to individuals. I do not believe there's a good reason to strive for traditional values.
@9T8FDXG2mos2MO
Culture naturally changes and adapts over time. The government should do their best to allow it to adapt naturally to the times.
The government should encourage individuals to preserve traditional values.
@9T6TP9F2mos2MO
Traditional values are nothing but a facade brought on by a dying ideologies. Change is an inevitable consequence of existence, and the preservation of ideals that hold no value and have been outperformed or disproven via logical, free thinking minds are to be left behind unless they can be proven effective. The duty of the government is to allow such a change to occur, and should have no enforcement of ideology beyond allowing individualism.
@9T3WBKX3mos3MO
It should be left up to the individuals, it is the people that determind a countries tradfition, not a flag.
It should be left to individuals. There is a certain merit or level of preservation, again as long as it does not lead to discrimination of minorities then it’s partly fine. However, preservation of nations traditional values is alright but each individual has their own preferences and unique understanding or views. However, on a national, provincial and federal level we must follow charter of rights and freedoms also to ensure safety and respect for everyone’s choices in areas of education; health care and economy.
@9SVFGXL3mos3MO
I believe traditional values should remain a personal choice. It is up to the individual which and to what extent traditional values are preserved.
@9QQDD875mos5MO
let people do what they want (not illegal) why are you so invested in peoples personal lives
@9QQBPKGConservative5mos5MO
Preserving national traditional values are important
@9QQBMRT5mos5MO
I think it's a responsibility for the government to preserve a nation's traditional values
@9QFM9P7 5mos5MO
Leave it to individuals. Canadians are actually smart enough enough to make up their own minds believe it or not.
@9QCBRTV5mos5MO
It is the duty of the government to not undermine a nation's traditional values the way they have for the past decade.
@9PZ8ZPN5mos5MO
It isn't the governments duty and the government shouldn't impede on an individuals effort at all.
@9PYH69Z5mos5MO
The government should have some part of conserving traditional values of Canada. After all, they are what makes Canada Canada.
@9PSHZSC5mos5MO
That should be left to individuals. In my opinion, maintaining nation's traditional values because different people have different values, Hence if the general or traditional value changes to another, that means many people of the generation feel uncomfortable with the one.
@9PLCT7P5mos5MO
Should be left to individuals who take pride in those traditional values
@9P9ZJVM5mos5MO
I believe it is the duty of the government to uphold a nations traditions
@9P8NRFMNew Democratic 5mos5MO
There is evidence showing that a country being controlled by a Right-Winged government often leads to two things: an authoritative police-state, or a militaristic fascist dictatorship.
@9HSV7T411mos11MO
This question is irrelevant to me, both sides should be happy supporting their political beliefs
@9HSPDSY11mos11MO
I think that should be left to individuals but it also shouldn't be the responsibility of the government to push the opposite agenda.
@9HR7YGD11mos11MO
It should be left to individuals and establishment shouldn’t be dehumanized
@9LMRPJB7mos7MO
I think it is everyone's responsibility at the end of the day. There is only so much us individuals can do and sometimes we will need our government to back us up and help us out with our traditions.
@9HS73CL 11mos11MO
It should be in the power of the individuals of the nation. Whatever values are supported by the majority of individuals in a nation should be upheld.
@9LLV5VQ7mos7MO
A nation's traditional values should be left the same. If you're not happy with it, then go somewhere else.
@9LJXC9B7mos7MO
That should be left to individuals, due to everyone having their own cultures and beliefs in today's world, we as a nation should not force our beliefs onto others.
@9LJVPFV7mos7MO
For the most part this should be left to the individuals, but I think the government should support different traditions and culture practices in order to inspire the appreciation for them. That way we can move forward as a closer community with similar values.
@9KQCS2Z9mos9MO
This is a difficult subject. Everything changes over time. The question is what are we protecting and does it still serve us.
@9LMD3D87mos7MO
more on the individual but should be supported by the government
@9LM4P8Y7mos7MO
Depending on the value it should fall always to the individual and sometimes to the government as well.
@9LLV2S67mos7MO
I think it is more the government's duties to preserve the nation's traditional values because they are the ones that make the decisions for us and for us to follow.
@9KQR724Conservative9mos9MO
It should be both. We are a proud nation but times do change and new traditions are okay too. Just have to walk a fine line as most people don't like change.
@9KQNB3K9mos9MO
Governments should be responsible to preserve the nations traditional values but individuals also must uphold that
Both, better to everyone's particpation on supporting a tradition.
@9LMGBWJ7mos7MO
No I would t say it’s solely the responsibility of the government. I also believe these values need to be evaluated to reflect our nations inhabitants more accurately, as opposed to be rooted in outdated beliefs, history and values.
@9LM9QV97mos7MO
Shouldn't be everyone's duty to preserve a nation's traditional values regardless of political leaning?
@9LKHV3T7mos7MO
I think it should be left to the individual as I think people should have the freedom to do what they want
@9K72Z2W9mos9MO
I don't think it is anyones duty as times change so do traditions.
@9K6M4549mos9MO
Left to individuals, governments can care for all they want but it's still just reactionary beliefs in the end, either way, it all depends or it just mixes.
@9K544ZP9mos9MO
The government has no place in deciding what traditions should be kept, it’s up to individuals to keep tradition alive.
@9HPLKNG11mos11MO
I think the government must find a middle ground or community assimilation of new people to Canada. Just as they did to many of our families generations ago. It didn't result in the loss of our heritage but gave us the respect and wanting to be whatever someone describes as "Canadian".
@9HDWGHZ12mos12MO
Left to individuals to magange how they want to manage their nation
@9HD9MZV12mos12MO
I believe that the government should in essence preserve the overall values that make up its constitution. However, there should be a certain balance as nations across the globe are becoming more opened and inclusive of different cultures and values that should also be respected.
@9HH9CJQ12mos12MO
I have no caring about this topic but i guess leave it to the individual to do what they want
@9LLTPMJ7mos7MO
i belive responsibility of tradition falls to both the goverment and the individual citizens of the country who share said traditions
