The reason people have to wait hours is due to the fact that healthcare is publicly funded

When the government steps in to run an industry it typically does worse than if ran by the private sector (look at Venezuela). Changing the healthcare system to be private instead of public will result in the private hospitals striving to make theirs the best one as they are not the only option, when the government runs healthcare, they can slack as they know people do not really have another choice.
