The fundamental reason why we started the immigration program in Canada was to support various welfare programs for an aging population. With the current levels of immigration, I do not believe that we have a sufficient young population support base, for our aging population. With the current global uncertainty, it would be the most appropriate time to lure the best of Global talent to our country and transition from a commodity-based economy to a services/ manufacturing economy.
