Most to all criminals using guns as their choice of weaponry purchase guns illegally, and that applies to real life. Law-abiding citizens buy guns within the law, and should be allowed to use them for hunting or going to the range. Self-defence with a gun should be allowed also, as most people don't have enough time to contact 911 when there is an attacker.
