No

Diversity training increases bigotry by dividing people into race categories, it has no place in the workplace

 @B2BY559from British Columbia  agreed…2mos2MO

Stupid waste of time. Qualification should be entirely based on competency and blind to ethnicity, sex or religious affiliation.

 @9KHKJ4Ffrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

In a diverse society everyone needs to continue to increase their knowledge and in employment, knowledge is a tool to better equip employees to do their job more competently. Diversity training should then be equated with job competency skills.

Canada is made up of diverse communities. Education brings understanding and everyone needs to learn they are on Indigenous lands and have responsibilities to the Original Peoples and their lands.

Yes

 @9TSXJGH from Montana  disagreed…6mos6MO

Diversity is a given yes, but we should be way more focused on who is qualified rather than who is a minority. We want the people in jobs to be qualified enough to do the job that is needed of them, not just qualified because they are a certain ethnicity. Frankly, it is quite mind boggling to me that we put so much emphasis on having 'diversity' in the workforce rather than having the right, most effective and experienced people in the jobs of todays world.

No, and mandatory diversity training should be banned

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...2yrs2Y

Yes, and all companies should require mandatory diversity training

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...2yrs2Y

Yes, and immediately expel any employees that commit acts of discrimination

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...2yrs2Y

No, only for employees that commit acts of discrimination

 @9ZMLLWRfrom Alberta  disagreed…4mos4MO

You can prevent discrimination altogether and lower the chances of acts of discrimination by providing mandatory diversity training. It would also potentially filter out intentionally malicious people from this training as those who intend to cause harm and discrimination will quit if they think their company is not aligning with their own personal (but bad) beliefs.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...2yrs2Y

No, diversity training should be encouraged but not required

 @9ZMLLWRfrom Alberta  disagreed…4mos4MO

Encouraged does **** all, people are lazy we all act on what makes our life easier and better. People are also intentionally racist, it’s an emotional response. Encouragement does nothing, bring a horse to water but you can’t make it drink or whatever.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...2yrs2Y

Yes, but only if it is a private company

 @B2C8RCM from British Columbia  disagreed…2mos2MO

Forcing ideology as a term of employment is foul, regardless of whether it is done by government OR private employers

 @B2BY559from British Columbia  disagreed…2mos2MO

The term “diversity training” is an intentionally misleading term that actually relates to an ideology that punishes competency in favor of promoting ideologues who comply with anti-human rights ideologies and promotion of access and opportunity as a reward for subservience to ideology rather than competency.

 @9QZGVSTfrom Michigan  answered…8mos8MO

Yes. ALL companies should be REQUIRED. Employees, and especially Human Resources, managers, recruiters, executives, board members, and owners, should all be required to participate in diversity training.

 @9GNXXXTfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Focus on hiring well-rounded, educated and skilled people of different backgrounds to create a better workplace.

 @B3286XSfrom Ontario  answered…3wks3W

Yes, but not with those low budget videos. Create actual programs tailored to the workplace that allow for collaboration and celebrate diversity.

 @B279XJNNew Democraticfrom Manitoba  answered…2mos2MO

Training should be done when applicable (e.g.: if individual is unfamiliar with customs vs someone who is familiar) and should only be trained by someone who has personal experience by being part of said diverse group if so.

 @B22MJBCfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

No, diversity training should be encouraged but not required, and any employee that commits acts of discrimination should be expelled.

 @9YK7T9Bfrom Alberta  answered…4mos4MO

No, but mainly because mandatory diversity training is usually not the most effective way to create a better workplace environment for marginalized groups. Schools should focus on initiatives that bolster connection and open-mindedness in ways that work.

 @9F5KMPVfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

It's none of the government's business how a private company trains staff but the government should diversity train it's government employees. And offer a free quality diversity training program to private businesses. With that said a private business shouldn't be able to refuse service to anyone based on race , gender or sexuality.

 @9F5FC8S from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

It’s depends on the nature of business and industry. In a broad stroke, cultural diversity should only be required in a work setting that works with a particular ethnicity or culture frequently (either in business or service). I’m undecided on how employees who commit acts of prejudice should be handled, it would have to be decided on a case-by-case basis and a verifiable act. All workplace settings should engage in some type of diversity training when it comes to neurodivergence, physical disabilities, and mental health.

 @9DZD4SQfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

If the person knows what they are doing for the company why would they need mandatory training.

 @9G4FX2Dfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, dependent on the type of company it is (eg. travel (flight attendants) - yes, artistry (painters) - no)

 @9G397D9from Quebec  answered…1yr1Y

No, because according to my earlier answer to a similar question, they already got this training in school.

No, and "diversity" training should be banned for pushing terrorist propaganda.

 @9BK2RQ6from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Encourage teaching of black history, as well as other marginalized histories in Canadian school textbooks for students, but also fund museums which allow people to tell their stories. But for staff, also have training available for them.

 @9B3L7XTfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Whoever applies and gets the job should be employed , no matter what race, ethnicity, etc.
