The national debt is irrelevant. The national deficit is what needs to be managed. It would be ideal to cut public spending, but its not practical during this time, we're in the middle of a global crisis and a recession.

 @8VH2TZWConservativefrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Ideally not and I think the answer lies in how we tax major multinationals like Amazon and Walmart. They are literally destroying the local economy and even more so since the pandemic.

 @8V8HP5CConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Eventually, yes. We should attract tax experts to work at the CRA by offering them high salaries and the cost of employing them will be repaid since tax revenues from better enforcement of current tax rules should substantially increase.

Increase public spending but redirect direct payments toward infrastructure development.

 @8Q2GZNDConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but increase taxes on large corporations and lower salaries of government officials

 @8PRWKQNConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

focus on lowering taxes and have the government spend less of the people's money

 @8P9TNPBConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Due to unnecessary, sporadic spending by the current government, I cannot make an answer

 @8P9FPGXConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Make cuts, re-allocate funds, adjust salaries and benefits of government workers (but not drastically)

 @8DYTJBLConservativefrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

I think the government needs to stop sending so much money to other countries our debt is lowered. When a person owes a lot of money, they need to curb their spending, our government needs to do the same.

 @8DTXS2FConservativefrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

The government spends foolishly so yes make cuts. Let citizens decide where the money goes from there paycheque.stop throwing money to the indigenous as that is not solving anything. Stop spending on immigrants who live off of the system. Stop throwing money at things that not help the whole economy

 @8CM9FY3Conservativefrom Manitoba  answered…5yrs5Y

Somewhat yes, there are way too many outs for free compensation. But the multinational corporations definitely need there tax loopholes revoked and must pay a higher tax.

 @9CMH3WPConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I would say Yes, but it depends what of public spending is compromised. Solutions such as increasing taxes on the rich or on corporations also work instead of compromising spending.

 @97T4JZCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, and reduce military spending, increase taxes on large multi national corporations and slightly increase taxes on the wealthy

 @8VPTPJYConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

They should lower emergency spending gradually, as well as, taxing the 1% and lowering government officials salaries.

 @8GPVK3SConservativefrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

No, stop sending so much money overseas to fund abortion, or fund terrorism

Spend money where it needs to be spent and don't where it isn't needed. Efficiency is king.

Yes, Issue bonds, reduce federal oversite agencies that compete with state and local government, reduce corporate loopholes or institute a flat tax.

 @heatherdvdprincessanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes. I fancy the idea of the government hiring professionals to evaluate spending regularly to require government funds be used as efficiently as possible/practical. Eliminate non-vital costs we cannot yet afford, even if they could be part of an ideal world. We must work our way up to a better world wisely, and that means getting out of debt as much as possible.
