i think at this point there should be agreement between russia and ukraine. Russia's main concern is if ukraine joins NATO then this would allow US to make their military presence in ukraine and as ukraine shares a land border with russia. this would be like inviting your worst enemy to be your neighbour. In the end in a war there are no winners so the soon the dispute ends the better.

I don't understand how this is a foreign policy question for Canada. Canada is barely a contributor to NATO and their international interests. NATO spiraling into what is now an international protectorate, allowing countries who will almost certainly end up in war, into the alliance increasing the likelihood that they will end up in a WW3 scenario, instead of a peacemaking force (ie, Yugoslavia).

Yes, if Ukraine can deal with their internal affairs and corruption first. Normally, I would say abolish NATO, but Russia, and to a lesser extent, China, gave NATO a new purpose

They should make whatever strategic decision benefits the safety and security of the Ukrainian people and the safety of the countries involved in the negotiations.

No, but keep it as a buffer state between NATO allies and Russia. If they do join, that might be a signal flare for Russia escalating the situation

Not while they are still at war with Russia, and not if intelligence suggests admitting Ukraine will prompt Russia to attack again.

Yes, if they choose to and meet the same requirements as any other nation.
