Yes

Ukraine deserves the same level of protection as other Eastern European nations and the ability to defend itself from foreign interference.

 @9GFMK86New Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Bringing an unstable Ukraine currently under attack from Russia would increase tensions, potentially starting a 3rd World War. If a Ukrainian state exists in some form after the war, regardless of the outcome, it should be allowed to join NATO once it meets the requirements.

No

 @9MQ523Cfrom Pennsylvania  disagreed…7mos7MO

Not allowing Ukraine into NATO would embolden Russian expansionism and irredentism throughout Eurasia.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...2yrs2Y

No, this should be decided after the current war ends so we avoid a third world war

 @9FT6L8Qfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

We should be able to decide this whenever it is most relevant which is now, whether or not there is a war going on right now.

Corruption in the European countries needs to be curbed before Ukraine is allowed to join to reduce risk of 3rd world war

 @9ZZNPW8from Ontario  answered…3wks3W

no mainly to not start a world war becuase getting us involved will get the other countries involved.

 @9ZZ6GJWfrom Ontario  answered…3wks3W

As long as it doesn't invite any ire from Ukraine's enemies, it would be beneficial to provide aid towards our ally Ukraine.

 @9FXS5CNConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I don't understand how this is a foreign policy question for Canada. Canada is barely a contributor to NATO and their international interests. NATO spiraling into what is now an international protectorate, allowing countries who will almost certainly end up in war, into the alliance increasing the likelihood that they will end up in a WW3 scenario, instead of a peacemaking force (ie, Yugoslavia).

 @9FN24SRfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

They agreed to not bring NATO any closer to the Russia border, during their independence.

Any big corporation such as NATO is completely corrupt and is not functioning with countries best interests at heart.

 @9F2VYKPfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I am in between since I believe joining nato could potentially help but it would put risks to other countries. So at this moment we should put a pause to it and wait to see what else is happening.

 @9NYHN2TNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

It is difficult to say as their joining could initiate a third world war. However, it would help Ukrainian people.

 @9KXZ6Y7 from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

We should ignore Ukraine and Canada should have concerns about their own country before going and pushing a proxy war.

 @9JXN7JSfrom British Columbia  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, that is if they have a stable economy and pays off about 10% of the aid it received during the war

 @9JSPMXFanswered…11mos11MO

Yes, but use this to abolish certain deficiencies and corruptions currently present in their government.

 @9JGJ9Q7Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

i think at this point there should be agreement between russia and ukraine. Russia's main concern is if ukraine joins NATO then this would allow US to make their military presence in ukraine and as ukraine shares a land border with russia. this would be like inviting your worst enemy to be your neighbour. In the end in a war there are no winners so the soon the dispute ends the better.

 @9JGGJW5from Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

No, and NATO should be reconstructed to include more diverse countries rather than white-dominated countries

 @9FYP94Mfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

This should be a decision made as any other when a country petitions to join NATO. No special treatment should be given.

As long as it meets the requirements outlined in the Washington Treaty, as well as additional requirements in other documents, and the people of Ukraine want to join, the Ukrainian government should be allowed and welcomed to join under the "open-door" policy.

If they check all the boxes for admission to NATO, then they should be allowed to apply.

 @93SSKKFfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No. Abolish NATO. It has proven to be corporation and bankers private army. No more destruction of sovereign nations. We have no where to put the refugees NATO has created.

As long as they meet qualifications within the Washington Treaty, and other NATO requirements, then they should be allowed and approved to join the alliance.

We need to think about, geopolitics around the Ukraine and its neighbours as this can cause serious damage to world economy. As we are seeing. We should not take unnecessary bullets after global slow down. As there "In geopolitics there are no permanents friends and permanents enemy".

 @97T4JZCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, if Ukraine can deal with their internal affairs and corruption first. Normally, I would say abolish NATO, but Russia, and to a lesser extent, China, gave NATO a new purpose

Yes, Ukraine should be able to join NATO if it wants to, and should be allowed to make that decision free of any outside influence (not from Russia, United States, or any of it's neighbors in Eastern Europe), however I realize it's often easier said than done. But, it must also fit the criteria and qualifications to become a NATO member as outlined in documents such as the Washington Treaty.

 @94B8ZS9Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

If they wish to, I don't see how we could responsibly say no. However, I would only officially let them join after the current war with Russia ends. A war between a NATO country and Russia is obviously just about the worst possible thing that could happen in the world.
