The transportation sector is the main contributor of greenhouse gases. One initiative towards mitigating these gases is sustainable transportation, with significant reductions in emissions in this sector.

Nothing that has been implemented to date has resulted in any benefits to the average (homegrown) citizen

Not all trains and buses because the cost would be too high and transportation would be less. But overall aiming for more electrical vehicles is a splendid idea.

I believe in both instances that electric and fossil fuels are useful and create opportunities for people in careers. Without the use of fossil fuels in our world, where would all the workers who work at these factories go? I believe that regulations on fossil fuels are a smart idea, however full restriction can be harmful to the economy.

Making the switch to electric power is expensive, and is being able to afford food not more important? I would say start with a handful of electric power. Not all need to be switched to make a difference.
@9CBVNQW2yrs2Y
Some should but some also shouldn't because it can be very costly yet can be effective at the same time. Additionally, the amount of electrical power intact it has is pretty big.
@9CBTS972yrs2Y
I believe it could be implemented, but perhaps not to all and everything. More research needs to be done in order to determine the effectiveness, efficiency and safety.

Do whatever increases and improves public transportation the most as that is the best way to eliminate excess fossil fuels.

Yes if there if it is done with Tramways/Trolleybuses to reduce the amount of batteries. Hydrogen and other alternatives could be used in less populated areas where the infrastructure needed out ways the demand.
@98SL5H22yrs2Y
No, electric vehicles for buses is overall way worse for the environment compared to fossil fuels, however may make more sense for trains.

If public transport services are correctly and sustainably implemented from fossil fuels to "clean" energy causing no harm to individuals or the environment, then i think it would be appropriate to use better sources of fuel.
