The transportation sector is the main contributor of greenhouse gases. One initiative towards mitigating these gases is sustainable transportation, with significant reductions in emissions in this sector.

nuclear power could be a lot more useful, because it has more energy and its clean. the only problem people don't like about nuclear power is if something does go wrong, it goes really wrong, but if you do all the right things it should be fine.
@9WPPMKFRhinoceros6mos6MO
It depends on the cost of having all buses electric, it would probably be better just to have some electric buses for now until we have a better way to power them.
@9VW5KW2Conservative6mos6MO
Not all, should be implemented when to environmental impact of doing so is great enough to outweigh the cost of implementing.

we should build more liveable and walkable/cycleable cities so that folks do not need to rely so heavily on cars or transit. While all transit that does exist should run on renewable energy, this energy must be harnessed in a way that honours the sovereignty of Indigenous Nations and does not harm the land.

I would say that we should move towards electrification of our public buses and trains throughout our country, but we should also make sure that there is infrastructure there to actually be able to repair/charge them. But regardless, we should be moving this way as it is a step in the right direction for not only communities, but also for the planet.
@93FG53G3yrs3Y
Ideally, yes. But it should also be cost-effective and easy for cities to run and operate.
@92NSVSP3yrs3Y
Yes, I would say that it's important to electrify public transit. As important as public transit is, there are some routes that have less passengers than others, meaning no passengers riding the bus as some times of the day, if this was electrified, we could save the extra pollution/CO2 from going into the atmosphere.
Yes, but over time, not instantly.
@8W44DKV4yrs4Y
Yes, we should use the old buses and trains as a base for the electric ones
@8VLG64N4yrs4Y
It would be nice but is it feasible cost wise in the short term?
@9BK2RQ62yrs2Y
Ideally yes, but it depends on the climate and environment of each community, as well as if it is feasible to have transit at all. But for major cities, yes this should be in our goals to help lower our emissions, as well as help adapt to growing populations.
@9948T952yrs2Y
I think that today it has been shown that electricity is the future but not the solution. In my opinion it would be wasting an amount of money that would be better to relocate it to another more necessary address.
@8VHW9Z34yrs4Y
They should be lpg and electric hybrid
Yes, but there should also be investments in infrastructure to make sure that they can be repaired and maintained within the city, otherwise it's not a worthwhile investment to make, and it makes it challenging.
