Rolling out electric buses is a good idea but any bus is gonna be pretty environmentally friendly as opposed to a car.

 @9STC26Dfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

There should be a mix of both for now, the process to develop the batteries IS very intensive and not harmless.

 @9RBQGTNfrom Quebec  answered…9mos9MO

Yes in areas where it is feasible to do so, recognizing that our northern areas may need to rely on older oil based tech while electrical technology becomes a feasible long term solution in extreme cold.

Because no matter what we’re still destroying the earth with electric cars because every 5 years you go to change the battery we’re taking lithium out of the ground and we can’t even get the lithium back

 @9JJC4PHfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

we should build more liveable and walkable/cycleable cities so that folks do not need to rely so heavily on cars or transit. While all transit that does exist should run on renewable energy, this energy must be harnessed in a way that honours the sovereignty of Indigenous Nations and does not harm the land.

 @9FJKDG9from Saskatchewan  answered…2yrs2Y

Not yet, batteries are not quite ready for Canadian winters, especially in colder regions, so until then there are adequate advances we should wait

 @9F3YBDS from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Not all, especially since natural disasters are known to affect electronics.

 @9CLGM6WNew Democraticanswered…2yrs2Y

No, public transportation should be run on renewable energy, like other options said, batteries are just as harmful.

 @969285MNew Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, and transition slowly as we invest more in other renewable energy sources

 @95R9JSBNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but not at the expense of getting transit services implemented efficiently.

 @9284NX3from British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

As buses and trains breakdown, replace them with better more ecofriendly alternatives such as hybrids,

 @923JJL4Greenfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Neutral: Electric powered vechiles comes with a different set of environmental issues but they do reduce the emissions of green-house gasses.

 @8Z3CSQ4Liberalfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

It really depends. Sky trains yes, but sometimes busses are on highways for a while and you run the risk of them losing power

 @8VLBTBNfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

We should look into alternative energy sources that do not effect the environment

 @8VLBQ4Nfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but the government should create green jobs and support local cities transition to electic power

 @9863HW4from Manitoba  answered…2yrs2Y

Ran on solar power and corn maybe? Let’s not ruin our earth even more, now

 @8VNQR4Jfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes if they are able to, extra transit is needed in rural areas, especially to help lower income and Indigenous folk so regular vehicles could go there
