Abolish both the senate and the monarchy, and turn the red-chamber into a 24/7/365 child-care centre.

 @B2J775Mfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Neither, turn the Senate into an appointed non-partisan technocracy, where Canadians who are the experts in certain areas serve and advise parliament.

 @9ZS96WWfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Abolish but create two new sector of the government for provincial and territory representation and the other to look over the bills to give the senate less power.

by nomination but require members to be non-partisan. Increase the power of veto regarding laws pass by the house of commons. Increase the powers of the senate to approve the nomination of department commissioners, military officers, ambassadors and federal judges.

Canada is a Parliamentary Monarchy of United Kingdom and Senators are appointed by the Governor General who is the Head of State or King s Representative, at the suggestion of the Prime Minister.

I certainly like the idea that Senators should be non-partisan. I am rather neutral on whether Senators should be elected or not, but I do definitely think that there should be stricter standards one way or another to determine who gets to sit in the Senate.

Senators should be elected by the Canadian population and NOT any federal party. Otherwise they are just lackeys to the party that selected them

Indifferent, there's corruption everywhere anyway. It's corruption that needs to be abolished.

The Senate should be replaced with representatives from First Nations across Canada. Any Bill approved by the house of Commons would surely be looked over with scrutiny by our first Nations people.

Neither. Instead, the role of the Senate should be expanded, in efforts to push Canada into becoming a Republic, and abolishing the Monarchy.

Each province should be allocated an equal number of senate seats and senators should be elected by the electorate in their corresponding province. This adds senatorial independence, yet accountable to the electorate.

Governing officials should be paid minimum wage till they can prove they can do the job while understanding the people who voted them in. those making 250 a year can never see eye to eye with those needing food stamps.

 @B4QFKL9from Ontario  answered…1 day1D

The senate is the body of sober second thought. The guardians of legislation that could do harm to the country. An elected senate is nothing more than just another house where the senator would be invested in re-election and party politics. Senators should be appointed by peers in their field of expertise and for their track record in bringing value to the country.

 @8DC736Tfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

Elect the Senate and allow, like the USA does if a sitting Senator dies, allow for a Provincial government to appoint a Senator and hold a special election if it is not during a regular election cycle. Also mandate Senators be Independent as political parties should be abolished
