The requirements to purchase a firearm are fine as is. Maybe lifting the restrictions on firearms would be a good idea

 @9MFRB3Lfrom Manitoba  answered…11mos11MO

Guns are for self-defense, people should have to go through training to get a license for one but should still be able to get one. Criminals and mentally ill people should not be able to get them.

No, instead the government should focus their effort on eliminating the illegal gun trade.

Keep the current process, but refine classes for gun licencing to be specific to the type of firearm being licenced. This would ensure proper screening, safety protocol, and education are passed for every kind of gun being licenced.

do some research on the purcheser

This makes no sense. Purchasers are already trained, licensed, and have background checks run on them. Have for a long time.

no but increase the penalties for gun related crimes and don't allow the mentally ill to have guns and require strict background checks, psychological testing, and training.

no, there should be way less restrictions for guns, as long as you pass the tests for the gun.

 @8WFTXC2People’sfrom Manitoba  answered…4yrs4Y

no the purchasing of firearms is already hard and theres already too many restrictions

The gun isn’t the problem, it’s the person using the gun. Banning all these guns won’t make a difference because it only restricts those who follow the law and criminals don’t. They will find a way to make guns whether or not the government bans them.

 @8TMSDPDfrom Manitoba  answered…4yrs4Y

Reduce the restrictions on rifles and handguns. And pursue actual criminals.

No, but increase penalties for gun related crimes, make it absolutely not for mentally ill or criminals.

 @9C55ZTKfrom Manitoba  answered…2yrs2Y

I agree with the following
•strict background checks
•psychological testing and training for those who wish to carry
•the right to defend my family, friends, and others if the situation allows for it
•stricter penalties for gun related crimes
•criminals and mentally ill people should not be aloud to own or handle fire arms

Legal gun owners are a very minor problem regarding gun violence and a competent government would go after illegal gun dealers

 @9BHHG63from Manitoba  answered…2yrs2Y

yes, people without estrict checkups should not be able to handle a gun also they should control how the police operates to stop police brutality

 @9BHGBF8from Manitoba  answered…2yrs2Y

Add a higher age limint and make it more strict like background cheks and lost of physcoligy testing

 @8SQ7R28from Manitoba  answered…4yrs4Y

Gun control in Canada is already strong. There are multiple things you need to do to get approved for your PAL/R-PAL. Increased gun control will not solve the problems of violence with firearms. Most crimes committed with firearms, and not done by legal gun owners.
