The 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings caused several states and cities to pass strict gun control measures. In response, state lawmakers in gun friendly states in the South and West passed bills that would strengthen Stand Your Ground laws and allow weapons in most public places. In 2014, 21 states passed laws that expanded the rights of gun owners allowing them to possess firearms in churches, bars, schools and college campuses. The federal government has not passed any gun control measures since the 1994 Brady Bill and 42 states now allow the possession of assault rifles. In the U.S. two-thirds of all gun deaths are suicides and in 2010 there were 19,000 firearm suicides and 11,000 firearm homicides.

I don’t think we should be as restricted when it comes to people purchasing weapons. Because since we have had strict regulations, we have seen a spike in crime rates with weapons. Some people take advantage of the current system where they think they are stronger due to them having illegal guns. I think we should get illegal guns off the street and legalize guns because that way, when people use guns in a harmful way, they could be punished accordingly.

The government can ban guns outright and it still would not solve the problem. Responsible gun owners are not the ones causing the crimes related to guns, there needs to be more attention paid to the selling and purchasing of illegal weapons in the country
@B3G2PTY2mos2MO
Gun violence is usually not with people purchasing legally. They’re stolen or entering the country illegally. The regulations will not affect that
@B2SX7XJ2mos2MO
People who own guns should have to pass rigorous checks, maintain a training schedule with them and have gun owners insurance. They are not dangerous in and of themselves and there are valid reasons to have them but not everyone can drive and not anyone should be able to just have one.

No, if my enemies are armed, I'd like to have the option to be armed too. My enemies could be a bear, or maybe a police officer or military personnel having a bad day.

I don’t believe that people who want to kill will get a gun legally anyways. Why spend money on something government can’t control. Gun stores already do follow the law.
@94CXG6G3yrs3Y
Only for criminals and the mentally I’ll and implement a stand your ground law.
@GinGy3yrs3Y
no, pass a law to carry legally. gun violance is caused by mental health. criminals will always be able to find guns you are better giving them to people to defend themselves. just look at drugs. people will always be able to get what they want illegally.
@8XKT3BG3yrs3Y
No, and the government should pass a national “stand your ground” law and Repeal the gun control act of 1968 and the Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) of 1986 and The Hughes Amendment and the ATF.
@8TN4GLW4yrs4Y
No, there should be much fewer restrictions to purchase a gun
@8FYYFPM5yrs5Y
Yes, only if someone's life is in danger or, they are just extremely scared so, they bring a gun with them everywhere they go, just to defend themselves if something bad happens.
@98VLNTJConservative2yrs2Y
decrease the restrictions
@98B6SV52yrs2Y
Yes, but not impossible to fulfill, also only hunting weapons should be available.
@97HHVXR2yrs2Y
No, they should leave replica guns out of it, like paintball or airsoft
Yes, guns involved in hunting should be regulated, and all other guns banned except for use in firing ranges, where the guns are stored in said firing range.
@8NQXJWF4yrs4Y
Once mandated safety training and background checks are complete, there should be no restrictions on firearms ownership or carriage.
@8VD46V7New Democratic4yrs4Y
yes and make sure there is proper training
@8SPHC574yrs4Y
Keep the gun laws the way they are.
