Instead of having teachers carry guns for protection against shootings, we should deal with the root of the problem: the shooters. We need to make guns harder for citizens to acquire and implement more safety precautions and laws for proper gun use.

have volunteer teacher's that take a extensive training course and the firearm to only be a pistol and it has to always be stored in a safe box in the teachers desk.

yes but in order to have a gun in school it hase to be locked away in a safe place and they need proper training with a gun.

 @9FQY4MYfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but the guns should be in a lock box hidden in a cupboard in the classroom only the teacher can access with a key. Therefore 2 locks (a lock and a code) to access the gun. Never openly carried. Always locked until there is an emergency like a lockdown.

No, but schools should require at least one police officer or security guard to be armed on site during school hours.

No! Are you kidding me?!?!? How is this even a question?!?!? No guns at all should be allowed in Canada!

 @8VBPPWXfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Absolutely NOT. Teachers are in a high stress job and are not screened for mental health issues. Guns in the hands of teachers will 💯 lead to school shootings on the part of teachers

 @8TW5GVCfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, teach teachers how to use a weapon, but also increase funding to protect classrooms and give teachers the tools to secure their classrooms.

 @8NYM4G4from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, unless they're legally allowed to carry. Security guards should be trained and hired if there is reason to.

Yes, but only certified people and the gun is enclosed in an absolutely safe spot.

 @ZaneThind17New Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

I would say only in the worst situations possible like there's a rapist in the school or a serial killer in school.

I think if a teacher is checked and licensed to carry a gun then it is okay. So long as the teacher has the gun locked up and is used only for extreme threats to their lives and their students lives.

 @8JTZBT2Liberalfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

A gun locked Away for emergencies that only a few people know about to reduce people in the school knowing.

 @8JST3PZfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, as long as teachers are well-trained in gun usage, and are trusted to not used it on students.

 @8JKD57FGreenfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

How the ef is this even an issue??? Teachers should never have to carry weapons...if it's ever a consideration, there is a bigger issue to be dealt with.

 @8JDYBC5Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes and add mandatory firearms education classes so that people are informed and know all safety measures

 @8HZKRVRfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

No this isn’t an issue in Canada, we don’t carry guns out on a daily basis unless going to a gun range or hunting so having guns in schools is unnecessary and more of a danger scare tactic to prevent children from confrontation.

 @8HLPHJMfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

not unless they have former military experience or training similar to that. and it would have to be concealed and in a place where a student wouldn't be able to grab it off of the teacher.

Depends. No for teachers, but there should be armed security who are trained to de-escalate situations in violent schools, while also having programs to help students who come from troubled backgrounds.
