If they are a canadian citizen then no. They should be treated like any other citizen.

 @9F8VWSZfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

If they are citizens of Canada they should be tried as Canadians, if they are not yet they should be deported unless they won't be safe in their home country (ie. they are of an identity that will face persecution, they are personally at risk if they return, or if the punishment for their crime would be inhuman such as torture or the death penalty.)

 @9F5HY3Hfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

If they are a citizen then no. If they are a non citizen who has been deemed a danger to remain in Canada than yes, but even in that instant only so long as their country of origin is safe for them to return to.

 @9F233YSfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

If they're a citizen then no. If they have t become citizen, yes. If it's safe

 @9DZBD2Qfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Depends on if they've become a Canadian citizen, then no. If they haven't and the crime is violent, then yes...as long as it's safe to return to home country

 @9YL4MGJfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

I think that we should not deport a person from Chad to say. Back to their own country, for that person not to get arrested there and ravage a less safe country, we should help this person, put them through treatments, and putting them in the longest timeline of jail.

 @9LW6VNFfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Depends. If it was murder through self defence, then it could be argued that they can stay. If they’re committing crimes such as first degree murder/rape, they must go

 @95PS532from Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93W4RZ9Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, they should serve their sentence then go back to living in Canada if they are here legally.

 @93VSBW4from Manitoba  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93R7PYSfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

It depends on the crime, and only if it is safe to return to their country

 @939K8S2from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

If they committed a crime that would harm the country or people in the country to the point where there is no coming back, but they could also just go to jail.

 @925JXGRfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

As long as they're not a Canadian citizen and the crime is a serious one

 @nobodyspecialLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8WLDXSPNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Depending on if the country they are getting deported to could kill them eg; North Korea

 @8WJR7CWfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no, they should be allowed to receive the same punishment as everyone else

 @8VSC3L9from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if it was extremely serious, affects the security of the nation or involves the death of a person without accepting responsibility for that death.

Depends on the crime. They are too strict on small offences. Onle crimes of a sexual or violent nature should be deported

 @8VLL8JMLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VGZJ7Gfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, if they committed the crime in our country then they should go through our country’s processes

 @8VGPBXBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VB9HNTfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V8Y5QLNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

If it is safe to enter their own country, but also depending on the crime. People who have committed more severe crimes that pose a larger threat to Canadian safety should be deported, but illegal immigrants should not be.

 @8V5DYM7from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

If we had implements in place to aid the immigrants that the government itself approves to enter to country this wouldn't be an issue in the first place.

 @8V544GGConservativefrom Northwest Territories  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes! They should be sent back to their home country if they’ve committed ANY type of crime. Why is this even a question?!?!

 @8V3FQ7Bfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if they never had citizenship and it is safe for them to return to their country of origin. If they are citizens then they should be imprisoned in Canada.

 @8V2GMKPfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

It would depend on the severity of their crime as well as their current citizen status.

 @8TJ7RB6Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8T7KWBWfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Depending on the severity of the crime, and how said crime poses a threat to society if that type of behaviour continues, then yes

 @8T3W823from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SYYRYCfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Depends on what the crime was, if they've served their sentence and if there's no fear that they will be a danger to their own country/its people.

 @8SYLG33from Nova Scotia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only if they have entered illegal unless it is unsafe to return to their country

 @8SRQFFDNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, if they are an official citizen then they receive punishment given by Canadian law

 @8SLS8SLNew Democraticfrom New Brunswick  answered…4yrs4Y

Hugely dependent on crime severity. Violent crimes and assault or endangerment to the public.

 @8SGDSH4from Manitoba  answered…4yrs4Y

I think it depends on severity of the crime, time served, and whether or not there has been genuine human rehabilitation.

 @8SD6CQJfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that as long as they serve a jail sentence for their crimes, it doesn't matter to me personally whether they serve their time here or their home country.

 @8SD43Z6from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8S4QF4Wfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

If they are a legal citizen of the country, they should serve their jail sentence within the country.

 @8R5BZB5from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if they have not been granted citizenship, then they should be deported and not imprisoned on taxpayers dime.

 @8R47HNCfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if the crime is sever and the individual could be a greater threat to Canadian society

 @8QRWMGYfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8QR7G7Vfrom Northwest Territories  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, depending on the severity. First degree murder and rape should be reason to send immigrants back to their original country as long as its safe to return, if its murder done in protection for themselves i believe they should have the right to stay in Canada

 @8QF8QWVfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

If they have become a Canadian citizen they should be treated as an other Canadian citizen would be treated in that situation.

 @8PKCWBBfrom Nova Scotia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8PJH3JNfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Depends on the severity of the crime if it’s murder yes if it’s arson maybe if it’s involuntary manslaughter then no

 @8PJFZL3from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8P9DDJMfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if they are not citizens or they pose a serious risk to Canada and their home country is safe

 @8P6S8SDfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only if they have entered the country illegally, or if they are not a Canadian citizen.

 @8P5RSMFfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8NVYH8Sfrom Manitoba  answered…4yrs4Y

No unless they did not immigrate I seek refuge in Canada Running from violence it’s and you need to send someone back to a broken country but if they are from a country where they are not in danger then yes

 @8JSV5TLfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8JPYMJ8from British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @niorunfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8F4Y968from British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

yes only if that is an intentional and meditated crime as in stealing or murdering. Not traffic violations

 @8DJ7SJHGreenfrom British Columbia  answered…5yrs5Y

I believe they should serve their sentence here in Canada because they are a citizen here now. Deporting them wouldn’t make sense because they need to face the consequences of their actions.

 @8D88CMJfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

if they're a citizen and charged then they're a Canadian citizen. if they're a permanent resident then they should serve their sentence and see the court to determine their staying in Canada or not

 @9CMGP4Tfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

If the act is directly done in the hope of seriously damaging the country, yes. If not, they serve time like all Canadians.

 @9CM5DQ8from British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9C7LBXWNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9C7KXS6from Saskatchewan  answered…2yrs2Y

They should be punished the same way just like every one else in Canada

 @9C2JMT9from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Immigrants are committing serious crimes enough for this to even be a question

 @98XJ7KQfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

It depends on how long they've been in the country. Some people came here from a very young age and are a product of Canada's environment and not their country of origin.

 @98TXC9Cfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Prison Systems outside of NA aren't safe, and can't be regulated by our country, deporting criminals without a request of them or their original country can put them in horrible living conditions especially in prison.
