No. Lower income tax, increase sales tax on non-essentials, limit tax loopholes for large co-operations.

 @B4VB3F3from Ontario  answered…4 days4D

Yes, and disallow all deductions and and remove all existing tax loopholes and lower taxes for the poor

 @B4V48CVfrom Ontario  answered…4 days4D

The definition of rich needs to be defined here. Doctors, who are desperately needed in this country, should not be taxed at over 50% on ANY income. This is just one example. $250k of annual income is not even close to the top 1% of income earners. the tax brackets should progress much more gradually up to millions of annual income.

 @B4PWV8Gfrom Ontario  answered…1wk1W

yes, but it depends on your definition of "rich". the ultra wealthy should be forced to pay their share. particularly on trusts and inheritance

 @B4N2BXYfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

But not on employment income, raise taxes on income from other sources such as stocks, investments etc.

 @B4KQSNNGreenfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

Lower tax rates for middle and low income brackets, greatly increase it for millionaires and remove loopholes for corporations.

 @B4GVYZLfrom Ontario  answered…3wks3W

Lower the gst or remove it on things like homes and cars that are expensive items everyone needs
Taxing income at 40% and then adding another 13% tax on most items means 50% taxes for people. It’s too much given the greed of corporations post covid.
Another option is to regulate prices on gas, groceries, homes, cars, and building materials

 @B4B6L3Qfrom Ontario  answered…4wks4W

Income tax should be reduced but followed up with a wealth tax that makes the rich pay more and poor pay less

 @B45T7J2from Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

There should be encouraging situations for entrepreneurs so the tax system should improve to ensure it happens

 @B43S6GLfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

no but only because it will drive the richest of our economy out of the country. if america introduced a similar stance on taxing the rich, id be all for it.

 @B3HNKCJ from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Increase tax on large corporations and businesses, close the loopholes, double down on billionaires tax dollars and decrease taxes on lower income families

 @B3FQZNNfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

The tax bracket should be adjusted according to inflation rate and cost of life. People should be able to buy houses, raise children and have enough money for retirement and current tax rates are preventing building wealth.

 @B3FMJ9Bfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, and abolish income tax for all low-income residents with yearly incomes under a certain threshold

 @B3F2G6X from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Implement a progressive tax system or tax free basic income for those in the lower class tax bracket who do not already receive government financial support like Welfare.

 @B3DKRGPfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

No everyone should pay the same tax why do rich people only actually gain half of each dollar they make

 @B37ZXR2from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but the government must ensure that there are laws/regulations in place to prevent the ultra-wealthy from bypassing paying their taxes; ie: off-shore accounts or money laundering

 @B35G8QWfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Everyone should be taxed the same percent based on annual income. For example someone making $300 000 a year would pay 10% of that in taxes ($30 000), and someone making $40 000 would also pay 10% of that to taxes ($4 000).

 @B2QCXXBfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Raise income taxes on the rich and corporations. Abolish sales tax. You should not be allowed to tax people on what they earn AND everything they buy

 @B2KS8R9from Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Tax brackets should be changed according to economic growth, if the economy is not earning much then instead of increasing taxes they should provide subsidies.

 @9ZXWKQMConservativefrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes. However, ensure that the taxes are not too high to make people who own businesses think about going to the States to run their businesses.

 @9ZXMNFXfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

No, but have systems in place to ensure that the general population has an income that is near to one another.

 @9ZTYYCSfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

I am unsure of which side to choose with the question, mainly because many of the "rich" have worked hard to reach their place in society. If they were taxed more, it would make it harder and would even cause rich people to move away from that country, which may affect our economy in some way because many rich people own businesses and companies in Canada. If they were to move away and bring their businesses with them, many people would lose their jobs.

 @9ZMYJ4Pfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Abolish the Income Tax. For people who make 100k or over per annum, the GST percentage should be 5% for each purchase. For people who make below that threshold, it should be 2%.

 @9ZLDVNLfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Make anyone who’s income is $150,000 or more pay 5% in taxes. Make people who earn below the threshold pay 2%. Abolish the income tax entirely.

 @9ZHL598from Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

No, it should be lowered slightly for the wealthy but not the extremely rich. Loop holes should also not be allowed larger corporations.

 @9ZDCKDQ from Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

lower it but also find a way to get rid of the loopholes so that everybody pays less taxes and those who have the wealth dont skip out on paying them

 @9TBN9CSIndependentfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

No, but enforce federal regulations that enforce the rich to pay and prevent tax evasions through any legal loopholes.

 @B4TN834from Ontario  answered…4 days4D

Yes to the maximum rate that does not disincentivize investment which leads to growth in GDP and growth in employment

 @B4R2Y9Dfrom Ontario  answered…1wk1W

taxes should raise based on income, but be capped to a certain percentile for ultra-rich individuals. While they *should* pay more in taxes, unfortunately having them in the counry does positively effect the economy. Making them leave to save on taxes just makes those other countries (usually the U.S.) much richer.

 @B3QNMWTfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Billionaires should not exist. One person does not require that much wealth and it does nothing to promote our society. Anything over $300,000,000 should be taxed at 95% and the government should use that money to strengthen society.

 @B39J9Q9from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Reform the income and carbon tax, the more you make the more you owe, the less you make, the less you owe

 @B38NWBTfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes and no... I wouldn't want them to seek other methods of negating the increased taxes they would have to pay by decreasing wages of their companies or increasing prices of their products or something like that.

 @B34FTDLfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

There needs to be more than 4 tax brackets, and hst shouldn't be 13% for everything. Different items should be taxed more or less depending on the item

 @B2WQSKGfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, and lower income taxes for the poor, abolish sales tax, increase capital gains tax, institute a wealth, inheritance, and land value tax, and lower property tax

 @B2RDFLTNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, by introducing new income brackets and treating investment income more in line with salary income

 @B2R2SWDGreenfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, but improve tax codes to include speculative and other financial assets that earn above a certain threshold.

 @B29NNVQConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

We should marginally reduce income tax and reform government spending. Alberta (Canada's lowest tax region) is taxed more than California (America's highest taxed region). Lower taxes invite more investment in the country and the companies in it. But the above is highly dependent on government spending being fixed and adding a limit to our spending (Similar to the US debt ceiling)

 @B299KXZfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

The "rich" needs to be better defined. Making $250,000 before taxes per year does not mean you're rich anymore, it means you live comfortably. I'd argue you'd need to make north of $500,000 per year before taxes to be considered "rich"

 @9TQY4VYfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

raising taxes on the rich would give handouts to the poor, it would be better to provide the poor with more jobs.

 @9QR7ST5from Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

taxes should be fair for everyone not too high or low, since rich people also had to work hard, even if they didn't likely their families did.

 @9PQQXRYfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

I am middle class. I feel it is unfair to over tax those who have achieved wealth as an individual.

 @9NXCW6Qfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, but not to the point where it negatively affects the rich and they can no longer support their needs.

 @9M8ZG9Qfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I believe they should pay more but not significantly. Say, if you make over a certain amount a year than your tax rate might be slightly higher.

 @9M8CPJ4from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Make there be more tax brackets, that make it where the final tax bracket involves anyone who is part of the top 2% income earners.

 @9LZ9ZMNfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

No, because the tax bracket already is raised on people with more annual income which is already morally incorrect because people work for the money they make.

 @9LTRGRMNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Lower the income tax rate for lower and middle class and remove all existing tax loopholes for large corporation (and continue to remove loopholes as they are found).

 @9JR4DYVLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9J73G5HConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9H4B72Jfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Have a limited set of allowed money, and whenever you earn more than the said amount, the money goes towards the government.

 @9GYC866Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

When it comes to really rich people who get out of paying tax or paying little to no tax I think that they should also pay

 @9GRZW9Kfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Lower income taxes, increase sales taxes, conduct a review of the tax system, and remove tax loopholes.

 @9GJPKWTfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

The rich should provide a minimum donation to support programs for increasing quality of life for low income families, marginalized people, and reforming criminal systems.

 @9G3LBVGfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Everyone should have a similar tax but it depends on who the person is and what they own in there tax pay

 @9FT9QJNfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

my stance on this oppion is as much as you want to tax the rich they will continue to find a way around them

 @9FPBNFQLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Depends on the perception of the people. If middle income families are forced to go to a single vehicle while multi-Tesla homes are on the rise, the problem could be rooted in corporations willingness to spend budgets on high end items driving up prices out of the reach of the working class. Shareholders that have a large stake in a company tend to also behave like they are rich owners. While they squeeze every dollar out of a corporation, we are subsidizing wages. Taxing the corporations more is a disincentive to invest in Canada, and jobs move to where they are cheapest rather than most eff…  Read more

The rich should be forced to pay their taxes IN GENERAL. There are too many policies that benefit wealthier folk that the middle class and poor individuals with never have access to.

 @9F2RWRLGreenfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I believe that taxes should be an equal amount for everybody, but if someone is struggling with money should be put on hold so they can get back on there feet.

 @9F2MMCGLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

More for the rich, less for the poor. Rich people don’t need that much money, while the poor do, the rich can help the poor with their tax money

 @9DYV2PRfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, increase for the rich and reduce for the poor to shorten the rich-poor gap.

 @95XKCJXfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95HSFZVfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

no, but they should remove all existing tax loopholes for large corporations.

 @9VKQQKVfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Yes but only if the rich make more than 450,000 per year and also lower taxes for the ones who are struggling financially.

 @9TRBJ3Cfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Taxation should be universalized based on the yearly income and small bussinesses should be promoted and in addition to that industry wise taxation should be applied.

 @9SP5JPNfrom Ontario  answered…8mos8MO

Only if they're not contributing to innovation and economic growth; otherwise, taxes should be reduced

 @9RR275Sfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Increase the tax rate for the majority of the brackets while also removing the existing tax loopholes. Large corporations do need to be the priority though. Economic freedom on a consumer level should be the first and foremost priority to prosperity.

 @9RCGFXGfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Not only raise taxes, but crack down on offshore banking, tax capital gains made via stocks, and put legal limits on shareholder earnings so larger businesses can pay their workers more.

 @9R49PL3from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Not really. what if big businesses helped out small businesses by giving money and they can can get tax credit and the small business can try to grow there business

 @9QZVT44from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Increase taxes substantially for the rich, (over $500,000/year), lower taxes for those who make under $500,000 per year and remove existing tax loopholes for large corporations.
