Statistically it would be better to increase military spending to have a stronger military, don't you agree.
@9GDR7491yr1Y
It is important that we stand by our NATO commitments and meet the targets we promised to enter the alliance. This is a requirement to be a member of NATO. With the situation in Russia and Ukraine and the Arctic we need to maintain our standing with NATO and meet our commitments. One example where we could use this money is we haven't updated our NORAD Arctic defense radars since 1989. Another example of outdated equipment in our military is our fighter aircraft which entered service in 1982 and has received modernization but is coming to the end of its life cycle. Our dependence on these aircraft is very high, we depend on them to intercept in our airspace and in the Arctic, they are very important.
Canada has a long and proud history of being elite fighters, and it would ensure protection without the reliance of our allies.

Let's say the U.S. is planning on invading Canada, we do not have any preparation for such an invasion whatsoever. Along with nuclear weapons, the U.S. has one of the strongest militaries possible. Canada on the other hand does not. If we increase military spending and help shape our army to be better, we'd have a better chance of winning such wars and invasions.
@B2SCWX42mos2MO
Our military is outdated, and we have almost nobody enlisting so we need to create better incentives to join.

We have America as allies, I doubt there will be another world war, and it's not like countries such as Canada and America are really turning the tide in present conflicts, so what's the point of increasing money on the military.
@9ZNZ6PZ5mos5MO
We need to take care of our citizens first. Health care is awful in this country, housing is in crisis.
@9H4Y24R1yr1Y
Canada has a very weak military and could be taken down by most militaries on the planet. The US will not defend us that is why we should grow our military.
@9H24J24Conservative1yr1Y
We need to increase military spending as global tensions are rising and if we do not we could be crushed under the weight of a stronger power like china or north Korea.
@9GYC866Conservative1yr1Y
The canadian military is still operating old german tanks and are air force3 is close to a joke and in this era all parts of military should be taken seriously
@9FTVSMR2yrs2Y
This power acts as a deterrent for aggressors. In the absence of military spending, opponents may view the nation as a soft target. Even though local defense spending may be more expensive, it creates more value in the form of more robust national security and fewer disruptions to trade and commerce. If the defense system of a country is fully integrated, there are economic benefits to it.
@9FNLBC82yrs2Y
If we spend more money on military grade weapons no country would want to match with us because were that powerful.
@9FNK3YQ2yrs2Y
The fight for your country and have to livve with things like scars, and battle wounds for the rest of there lives they desrve this

The United States consistently ranks as the world's top spender on defense. In 2020, the U.S. spent approximately $778 billion on defense, according to SIPRI data.
@9FR95LZ2yrs2Y
I think the government should prioritize education and health care because investing on military is almost pointless when no one is willing to attack us because we have the biggest army in the world (U.S.A) as one of our alies.
@9FQ5KS82yrs2Y
Self evident...we have a NATO commitment of 2% GDP for defence. Why should NATO protect us against our enemies if we don't have the capability to defend ourselves as we have committed to?
@9FPRBKG2yrs2Y
Canada lacks adequate ships and aircraft to defend its territory, frequently has to rely on aid from the British and Americans to protect us in the north as we lack nuclear submarines, icebreakers etc to effectively survey the waters.
as the years go, more and more technology are being created. This means military funding should go up to keep up with the new military technology coming in.
@B2YJZ2B2mos2MO
Increasing our military spending in Canada will show Donald J. Trump that we are a sovereign nation who does not want to be apart of the United States.

With the worsening of global climate change, we need a response force to natural disasters, if we have a military that hates us and can't afford in the place where they're stationed what's making them stay in the forces?

for example, if Canada was invaded and taken over, we could all be living under a dictatorship, that wouldn't happen if we had a strong military.
@B4F5J94 2 days2D
If we increase the funding on the military we would have more budget to evole our weapons and thecnology to make more lethal and effective weapons of destruction
