Should the government increase or decrease foreign aid spending?

depends on the situiation but i feel we should improve our country before we start trying to fix everyone else's

Situation dependant. If we are in an okay state to lend a hand then I think we should. But I think we should put ourselves first.

People will point to foreign aid as a reason why services are underfunded, but , it doesn’t address the structural inequities that governments have historically ignored, nor does it acknowledge how racism, classism, and colonialism continue to play a role in shaping both domestic and foreign policies.

Neither. However deny aid to countries that have human rights violation and/or harbor promote terrorism.

This should be used strategically to build strong partnerships and trust with current and new potential allies. Of course if there is an event where we can help recover or prevent a giant tragedy then I support increasing foreign aid. But some of the programs are ridiculous.

Focus on the needs of Canadians first. If we cannot ensure all Canadians are free from discrimination, have health care, food, clean water we cannot be helping others.
